The fact is that the learning process goes on, and so long as the voices are not stilled and the singers go on singing some of it gets through.

Nine Voices

On a beach

Nine tribesmen stand alone
Waiting for a distant call
Waiting for the world to answer
Thru' the night of a thousand stars
Encircled by the light
They began to sing a new song
Of forces that surround us

All my songs were solo voices. Just me singing. In fact, that was the gimmick - no gimmick. Just singing straight with not too much background.

I have often heard the statement made by foreign singers, as a demonstrated fact, that the German artists are artists in feeling indeed, and serious in their devotion, but that their singing is crude.

Play On

All of my life, the wheels were turning
Drawing me near, to something that's burning bright
The music begins, a song that is new
Joining as one, it leads me to you
(Chorus)
Play on, play on, lifting our voices to reach the sky
Play on, play on, singing a song and my heart's on fire
My morning star, has always been with me
Lifting me up, when I couldn't carry on
Turning the page, to each song I write
Leading me on, on through the night
(Chor us)
Living the song
Holding on to a dream that never dies
I open my eyes
Learning the word that never fade
Now it begins
Never to end
It's the prize I long for
Play on, play on, lifting our voices to reach the sky
Play on, play on, sound a refrain to be heard on high
Play on, play on, singing a song and my heart's on fire

Oh, Come All Ye Faithful

Carol singers standing huddled together in the snow,
under a glowing lantern.
Their voices raised, the sound drifting away,
through the frosty night.

Joyous singing. Praises ringing.

'Oh, Come all ye Faithful'.

They're the only people out and about
on this cold Christmas Eve,
no one twitches their curtains to look,
or open's a door in welcome.
No mince pies or a glass of sherry on offer,
to warm the heart and lubricate the throat.

Even though they're well wrapped up
against the bitter winds, gloves, hats, scarves,
they certainly don't lack stamina.

'Hark the Heralds Angels Sing'.

Do you think those angels harken to these singers
struggling to convey their Christmas message?

'Silent Night'.

IT SURE IS! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The old jazz singers or old blues singers, you always just saw them kind of sitting down and singing. They weren't worried as much about their voice sounding perfect. They would make the song kind of fit their voice.

In Substitute of Meat

What process is this,
If it is not a learning one?
What process is this,
If comprehension isn't done?

Wasted sagas are meaningless,
And shallow.
Do nothing there to uplift.
Although,
A purpose to keep mentalities narrow...
And quite hollow does succeed.

What process is this,
If it is not a learning one?
What process is this,
If comprehension isn't done?

And what purpose is served,
By keeping minds fed dessert...
In substitute of meat.
We already witness the disadvantages,
Of too much sugar and spice.
Leaving sweetened appetites in our streets,
Without substance to nourish!
With all taxes increased.

'Meat?
I thought you were vegetarian? '

Meat for the mind,
Fool!

'I'll have you know,
I am a qualified imbecile...
Thank you!
Any references declaring me to be a fool,
I find appalling and offensive.'

There is 'something' about that to be admired.
Perhaps that's why it captivates.
And nothing about your situation advances.
It's soooo...
Impressively expressive.
And excuses an accepted abuse!

Learning

I'm learning to say thank you.
And I'm learning to say please.
And I'm learning to use Kleenex,
Not my sweater, when I sneeze.
And I'm learning not to dribble.
And I'm learning not to slurp.
And I'm learning (though it sometimes really hurts me)
Not to burp.
And I'm learning to chew softer
When I eat corn on the cob.
And I'm learning that it's much
Much easier to be a slob.

Carl Sandburg

Clark Street Bridge

Dust of the feet
And dust of the wheels,
Wagons and people going,
All day feet and wheels.

Now. . .
. . Only stars and mist
A lonely policeman,
Two cabaret dancers,
Stars and mist again,
No more feet or wheels,
No more dust and wagons.

Voices of dollars
And drops of blood
. . . . .
Voices of broken hearts,
. . Voices singing, singing,
. . Silver voices, singing,
Softer than the stars,
Softer than the mist.

A Love Song

Why do people cry
When they hear the word goodbye
In a love song?
Tears are sure to fall
When you know they gave it all
In a love song.
Somehow two lovers get a chance
At a beautiful romance
And you wish it could be you.
'Cause everybody's needing
What the singers all are singing
In a love song.
It can tear you apart
'Cause a word can break a heart
In a love song.
They say all the things you feel
And they make it sound so real
In a love song.
It seems that everything they say
Is said in such a way
That we believe it's true.
'Cause everybody's needing
What the singers all are singing
In a love song.
Each of us know
There's no guarantee
We'll ever find love.
And in the songs that we share
The heartache is there
To remind us.
New love brings a thrill
And we know it always will
In a love song.
Happiness can leave
But it helps if we believe
In a love song.
There's a part of you and me
In every memory
That tells us who we are.
And everybody's needing.

Diddy Doo Wop

Lyrics & music: daryl hall, john oates
Look at me, i'm running
Ooh, what have i done
Oh, i must have hurt someone
Dark in subway station
Gimme place to hide
Oh, i hear the voices deep inside
And the voice is singing
Diddy doo wop oh oh oh oh oh
Diddy doo wop
Well, it starts in my head and it ends when i stop
Keep singing diddy doo wop
Charlie liked the beatles
Sam, he liked rich girl
I'm still hung up on the duke of earl
Reaching for the handle
Slicing through the air
Oh, the doo wop voices everywhere
Oh, the duke is singing
Diddy doo wop oh oh oh oh oh
Diddy doo wop
Well, it starts in my head and it ends when i stop

Beyond The End

Beyond the end
By: jimmy buffett, marshall chapman, will jennings
1985
We are a long way from anything, I told him. up ahead turn left and
Were fifteen or twenty minutes from cancun. turn right and youve
Got a batch of sixty miles of nothing. so who are we seeing,
Where is he and how do we get in touch.
- travis mcgee from the lonely silver rain
Mayan moon was burnin
We saw visions
Of the past returnin
On the shore
The band was playin
We all heard
What the moon was sayin
The world keeps closin in
It has before
It will again
A voice beyond the wind
Says we must go
Beyond the end
So follow
Beyond the end
A sea of friends are singin
Vaya con dios [go with god]
Mis amigos [my friends]
We take their hopes and feelins
To some new world
Well be revealin
Old worlds keep closin in
They have before
They will again
Voices call
Beyond the wind
Say we must go
Beyond the end
And follow
Beyond the end
(guitar break)
Old worlds keep closin in
They have before
They will again
Voices call
Beyond the wind
Say we must go
Beyond the end
Old worlds (old worlds) keep closin in (keep closin in)

Martin Heidegger

Teaching is more difficult than learning because what teaching calls for is this: to let learn. The real teacher, in fact, lets nothing else be learned than learning. His conduct, therefore, often produces the impression that we properly learn nothing from him, if by "learning" we now suddenly understand merely the procurement of useful information.

One Room School

While traveling on vacation
Sometimes I come across
A one room school sitting alone
Its hopes and dreams are lost

You can almost hear the voices
Of children in the school yard
Giggling and running at recess time
For their tasks seemed very hard

Pig tails flying as little girls played
Petticoats peeking out
From under long pretty dresses
Boys laughing as they run about

Can you imagine what it was like
For teachers to teach several ages
Their learning ability so different
As they were all at various stages

Times have certainly changed now
Though learning has the basic rules
But it’s fun to imagine what it was like
Long ago in a one room school!
