For all the gold and silver stolen and shipped to Spain did not make the Spanish people richer. It gave their kings an edge in the balance of power for a time, a chance to hire more mercenary soldiers for their wars. They ended up losing those wars anyway, and all that was left was a deadly inflation, a starving population, the rich richer, the poor poorer, and a ruined peasant class.

Sonnet: The Rich and the Poor

The rich become richer and the poor poorer;
This is the way in which this world goes on!
Men may become suddenly rich, not born;
A rich man turns suddenly a beggar.

The few pennies are snatched off from the poor;
The brunt of taxes are but borne by them;
They can’t make both ends meet by any sum;
The rich hoodwink the taxman- their brother!

Will the world treat people alike ever?
All men are born unequally today;
Yet, if it happens, ’twill be a wonder;
No matter what you do, things happen this way.

The rich become richer not by real work;
The poor become poorer though they hardwork!

A man’s tendency

Man, you might be richer with wealth
But I am neither poorer,
With my bowl content with contents.
Man, you might be stronger with power
But I am neither weaker,
With my sac’s wants empty.
Why must I fall behind you?

Woman, you might be poorer in looks
I am not richer either
With my kit of virtues torn.
Woman, you are weaker in virtues
I am not richer either
With my bag of conscience worn.
That is why I fall behind you.

Another American Civil War

The rich are becoming richer than ever before
As the middle class is left expiring in its own gore.

Each day prices rise as people's confidence falls,
But wealthy are too busy to hear their desperate calls.

Rich are counting all the new money they're gaining
And can't believe that there's anyone complaining.

Like Medieval Times they live in castles behind walls,
Shielding them from the increasingly frantic calls.

As with their ancestors greed is the order of the day.
They have no interest in a poorer class with little say.

Only when downtrodden rise and demand their rights
Will walls fall and rich feel the pain of people's plights.

History is replete with middles classes becoming poor
Until they refuse to be ruled by the rich and declare war!

Rich In Our Own World

We are rich in our own world
and far richer than you think,
we are rich love and caring
from our family and friends.
We are rich in what we give
our wisdom and our laughter
that we share with everyone.
We are rich for all sorts of reasons
and none of them includes money.
If you think, you are poor,
forget it and think again.
Think of all the things you have
and you will be surprised to find
you are far richer than you think.
You are rich in your own world
with everything you have
and they are far richer than
anything money can bring.

The rich are richer, and the poor are poorer, in the city than elsewhere; and, as a rule, the greater are the riches of the rich and the poverty of the poor.

World’s Clarion Call: Stop All Wars; Love Your Brethren!

Wars spread terror;
Wars cause horror;
Wars kill persons;
Wars maim people;
Wars pollute air;
Wars contaminate soil;
Wars destroy buildings;
Wars ravage cities;
Wars ruin countries;
Wars cause hatred;
Wars are expensive;
Wars escalate prices;
Wars create enemies;
Wars generate ill-will;
Wars instill mistrust;
Wars make the poor, poorer;
Wars make the world,
A difficult place to live in;
Don’t waste money on futile wars.

Love settles conflicts;
Love gets friends;
Love converts foes;
Love leads to dialogue;
Love spreads brotherhood;
Love brings lasting peace;
Love leads to progress;
Love is all-encompassing;
Love is the key to human problems;
Love rules the universe;
Love leads to heaven;
Stop the wars and love your brethren;
Science should improve man’s plight;
Unite against human calamities;
Fight diseases, poverty, and illiteracy;
Leaders should give up their ego;
The world should be free of fear;
Peaceful co-existence should bring all near;
Make the earth more habitable for all.
This is the world’s clarion call!

Who is richer?

The rich who are mean
Are poorer than the poor;
The poor who are liberal
Are richer than the rich.

New movement

I can't believe! ! England,
For poverty how can She stands.
The land of liberty and dignity,
Where are identity and humanity?
The poor become poorer,
the rich become richer.
Oh bad capitalization is in top of civilization,
Allah helps the poor in every nation.
If the poverty were a man, i 'd kill
Omar 's dictum curing for the ill.
The rich must help the poor
To have no envy, make the heart pure.
We respect you! ! England,
Rising humanity, you put a hand.
We don't go to the black ages,
when people put in cages,
Where they escape in caves.
We are at the era of enlightenment,
The revolutions are everywhere in new movement.

War and Peace

Wars cannot give a lasting peace;
Wars cause much hatred and ill-will;
Wars are futile and costly too;
Wars break existing peace with ease!

Wars cause deep wounds of hearts and minds
–That can’t be healed except by time;
Wars lead to loss of lives untold
–That cannot be ever regained.

Wars serve to foment more troubles;
Wars make the world more insecure;
Wars shift the balance of powers;
Wars do not solve the world’s problems.

Love only solves great differences;
Love only bonds the earth’s peoples;
Love only brings peace with much ease;
Love is the key to global peace.

Frank P. Kosmach- 90th Birthday

My mother gave me a silver pen
with Frank's name and birthday inscribed.
We never knew Frank but Father told us
he was a very lucky man,
richer than the silver pen that drove him
to write my father a big check on pink paper.
Frank was lucky alright.
He paid his bills on time
and he had silver mint ships and pens
to spare and everything had
his name on it. He was the proud
chief of his german tribe and I'm sure
he knew all about world wars
and how they lasted all the time.
A story must have stuck in his head, too,
sweet like too much molasses
though I never knew him, like I said,
but whenever I write with his pen
I think of his skin, his silver-
where it went.

Just A Pastime

what do you really expect?
a smooth flow? or a big flaw from me?

you're wrong, i don't give importance to anything anymore
there is no value
to excellence or
hard work,

the poor here gets poorer
the rich gets richer and those who tell lies
become gods

and so when i try to write something great
or you think it to be so

i am not really into it
i am having a conversation with someone else
and then
when nothing seems really significant
as it is
most of the time,

i get into this,
a pastime,
just a past time
nothing more nothing less

Who Says That Life Is Fair?

and so it happened
that one day
i told her
frankly in class
that life
is not really fair

the rich gets
richer
the poor gets
poorer
the killer
is on the loose
and the
heirs of the
victim still
grieving

justice
is not in the
hands of the
innocent

and with a stare
i look at her

and tells her

who says
that life is fair?
raise your hand

and indeed
she raises her
hand

the following day
she kills herself

i guess,
she proves it
slapping
me on my face
with her
untimely
death
