Part of what Special Olympics is trying to do is break down stereotypes that still exist for people. There is still a lot of fear.

Wheelchair Olympics
Hardly wheelchair Olympics, dumped in a corner
Carer giggles with friends minus little Jack Horner
Waiting for the nurse like furniture in the hall
Conversations are worse- like I'm not there at all.
Speak at me! I feel I should scream
I still exist outside your disabled dream
I'm not a geriatric who likes the odd tipple
My spirit survives; intellect is no cripple
My eye absorbs all art; my heart feels deep the prose
I live every classic part minus the waist down to the toes.
Hardly wheelchair Olympics, touring Sainsbury's with a guide
Inspecting every joint of meat, clinging to my pride
'Anything you've forgotten? ' my helper opts to talk
'Only a bag of frozen peas, and the ability to walk.'
Self pity, someone will say, some naive cheeky chappy
Whlie i sit in cold light of day, waiting for my nappy.
Talking louder is a prerequisite
As they stop with grin so plastic
Manners to be exquisite
When conversing with a 'spastic'
Whipers that you hear, idiots that you flee
They'll never know that fear of silent soliloquy.
So now I smile through the grin of a cynic
Dining out in fine eateries galore
So glad to break free of that clinic
Where my dignity stayed at the door.

The Olympics are coming... and it's a big problem in American politics, because the problem with holding the Olympics this fall is that we're all going to be focused on the Olympics, and it makes that window of opportunity for Gore to win the election that much smaller.

Fear is always there
Some people say they fear nothing,
I say so myself.
But that is wrong,
that cannot be true.
When people say they fear nothing,
it makes me think.
Fear is always there,
as a part of our lives.
I say I fear nothing,
I say I can handle all,
But that is wrong,
I know that is not true.
Of course, we all fear death,
I fear death,
But that is not my worst fear.
I fear I lose all,
I fear I lose my friends,
I fear I lose my family.
Even though I don't say so.
Even though I may not show it.
I fear I lose all I love.
Some people say they fear nothing,
But that is not true.
They fear something,
we all do.
Just because of the fact,
that fear is always there,
as a part of our lives

With Bound, we wanted to pull at conventions, because you begin to wonder, Why do these stereotypes exist? Where do they come from? You use that as the subtext.

Out with stereotypes, feminism proclaims. But stereotypes are the west's stunning sexual personae, the vehicles of art's assault against nature. The moment there is imagination, there is myth.

There are a lot of stereotypes to be broken which I think a lot of us are doing. What I do is, as soon as people try to pin me down to one kind of part, I'll play a very different kind of role, so it explodes that stereotype.

I think the thing that I most appreciate now is that stereotypes involving Jewish identity activate fears of persecution that exist in the present day.

Of course we've been fighting against stereotypes from Day One at East West. That's the reason we formed: to combat that, and to show we are capable of more than just fulfilling the stereotypes - waiter, laundryman, gardener, martial artist, villain.
All stereotypes turn out to be true. This is a horrifying thing about life. All those things you fought against as a youth: you begin to realize they're stereotypes because they're true.

To Have It And To Give
You need to feel it!
Everyday that special touch of love.
You should have it near...
Everyday that touch of love.
You need to feel it!
Everyday that special touch of love.
You should have it near...
Everyday that touch of love.
People need a benefit of it...
Everyday!
That touch of love.
To have it and to give,
That special touch of love.
You should have it near,
Everyday that touch of love.
No one should ever fear it,
The feeling and the touch of love.
No one...
Under the Sun,
And...
You need to feel it!
Everyday that special touch of love.
You should have it near...
Everyday that touch of love.
No one should ever fear it,
The feeling and the touch of love.
To have it and hold dear...
Supersized to hypnotize.
You need to feel it!
Everyday that special touch of love.
You should have it near...
Everyday that touch of love.
No one should ever fear it,
The feeling and the touch of love.
To have it and hold dear...
Supersized not analyzed!
People need a benefit of it...
Everyday that touch of love.
To have it and to give of it...
That special touch of love.
You should have it near...
Everyday that touch of love.
No one should ever fear it,
The feeling and the touch of love.
We all need to feel it...
That special touch of love.
To realize it with our eyes...
And our minds to behold,
Not to let go.
And...
You need to feel it!
Everyday that special touch of love.
You should have it near.
Everyday that touch of love.
People need a benefit of it...
That special touch of love.
To have it and to give.
That special touch of love.
To have it and to give of it...
That special touch of love.
To have it and to give.
That special touch of love.
To have it and to give of it!
That special touch of love.
To have it and to give.

To Lend
To Lend
Don’t you know
People need people
Amen
To lend an ear,
To listen, to hear
About what’s special and dear
Or full of fear
People need people
Amen
With a message to send
People need to lend a hand
To help us all accomplish God’s plan
Sharing life with someone special
Walking hand in hand
On the beach in the sand
People need people
Amen
To lend themselves as a friend
To another as a sister or brother
A father
A mother
To lend
Don’t you know
People need people
Amen

Fear is Everywhere You look
Everyone has a fear
They don’t even know where it comes from
Fear is everywhere you don’t have to look
There are fears that scare little kids
Like the dark or the monster in the closet
But without fear the world would fall into darkness
There are some people that fear other people
And some that fear water
But a lot of people fear the end of the world
There are people that do not have any fear
They are the people that are different
Even if they hide their fears from humanity
I am someone that is different
But I will tell you my fear
And that is
The fear of my friends dying first
I could not live with out my friends
A man once told me that fear is away to run
Show no fear even in the eyes of the end
Fear is everywhere you look
I told you my fear
I think that you have a fear too
But if you dare to tell
That is your choose
I do not control you
I have said that fear is everywhere you look
What is your worst fear? ? ?
I will not judge you if you tell! ! !

What's Courage
Here's a question thats always on the back of your mind
With an answer that's nearly impossible to find
What is courage?
People often mistake courage for bravery
Like someone that looks like a celebrity
Bravery is having little or no fear
Like a dying person who knows the end is near
Courage is overcoming what makes you tremble and shiver
Like knowing you might die but still donating your liver
But courage wouldn't exist without fear
Like intoxication wouldn't exist without beer
So I guess the true question is clear
Not what is courage, but what is fear
