The world may end up under a Sword of Damocles on a tightrope over the abyss.

Tightrope
Words and music by bob seger
Saw you walkin on a backstreet honey
Tryin to slip away
Did you find someone to take your money
And did it make your day
Take a lesson from someone whos been there
There are lots of roads that lead you nowhere
I can see it in your blank stare baby
Someones done you in
Everybody hits the hard truth some time
Its your time again
So youre lonesome and the nights approachin
Honey this is where the tough get goin
Welcome to the tightrope
Between memory and pain
Welcome to the tightrope
Between the freedom and the chain
Welcome to the tightrope
Stretched high above the street
Welcome to the tightrope
Its right beneath your feet
Once you learn to balance truth and sorrow
You can worry about the rest tomorrow
Up there on the tightrope
Oh its a tightrope
Youre walkin on a tightrope

Tightrope
Cant find yourself
If youre lost in a crowd
Cant hear advice
If youre screaming out loud
For someone please listen to me
Cant figure out
What you dont understand
Cant realize
What you dont comprehend
But its always
Been plain to see
But if you run
Too far away
Oh if you run
Dont be afraid
Its just a tightrope
Walker on fire
Razorblade wire
Its a high hope
That you acquire
Its a tightrope
Razorblade wire
Cant say hello
If youre never around
Cant pace yourself
If you never slow down
cause your always
Running full speed
Cant take too much
If you dont let them in
Cant feel the touch
Of a life within
If youre always
Fulfilling the need
But if you run
Too far away
Oh if you run
Dont be afraid
Its just a tightrope
Walker on fire
Its a tightrope
Razorblade wire
Its a high hope
That you acquire
Its a tightrope
Of razorblade wire
Oh if you run
Too far away
Oh if you run
Dont be afraid
Its just a tightrope
Walker on fire
Its a tightrope
Razorblade wire
Its a high hope
That you acquire
Its a tightrope
Of razorblade wire

Even In Love You Must Also Be Prepared
sometimes the drought comes
i know
sometimes it will take a very long time
for the rain to come back
we know it
sometimes all the waters in our well
get dry
and we all anticipate it
we are prepared
for all these
a long time now
i hate to say this to you
but i always know how to say goodbye too
with the dignity of decency
and you know it
and when will that be
i am keeping it suspended in the air
like the sword of Damocles
my world is always an open door
it closes when i say the word
and you know it very well
i once told you
nothing lasts forever

Tightrope
You should have been an angel, it wouldve suited you
My gold-leafed triptych angel, she knows just what to do
In the half light of morning, in a world between the sheets
I swear I saw her angel wing, my vision was complete
And I know Ill never want another lover, my sweet
Can there be more in this world than the
Joy of just watching you sleep?
I dont know just what to feel
Wont someone tell me my loves real?
Are we etched in stone or just scratched in the sand
Waiting for the waves to come and reclaim the land?
Will the sun shine all sweetness and light
Burn us to a cinder, our third stone satellite?
Im on a tightrope, baby, nine miles high
Striding through the clouds, on my ribbon in the sky
Im on a tightrope, one thing Ive found
I dont know how to stop, and its a
Long, long, long, long way down
Shes all that ever mattered, and all that ever will
My cup, it runneth over, Ill never get my fill
The boats in the harbour, slip from their chains
Head for new horizons, lets do the same
Im on a tightrope, baby, nine miles high
Striding through the clouds, on my ribbon in the sky
Im on a tightrope, one thing Ive found
I dont know how to stop, and its a tightrope baby
Nine miles high
Striding through the clouds, on my ribbon in the sky
Im on a tightrope, one thing Ive found
I dont know how to stop, and its a
Long, long, long, long way down

Tightrope Ride
You're on a tightrope ride, nobody by your side
Well, you're all alone, gotta find a new home
Don't go over the line. You better keep on time
Or you'll lose your mind on your tightrope ride
Watch out, don't fall! Careful, don't slip!
You better get your balance, you have to feel the way
There are no more questions, no answers today
There are no reasons, there are no more rhymes
But if you feel it, you can fly next time
You can fly next time, or maybe this time
Did you think we were all together?
Did you think we were all the same?
Did you think maybe I could help you
Remember your name, remember the game
What's the name of the game
It's a very good game, never stays the same
It's the number one from mud to sun
You're on a tightrope ride, we're all by your side
But you're all alone, and we're going home
And we're by your side, but you're all alone
Like a Rolling Stone, like Brian Jones
On a tightrope ride

Insecurity
We walk a tightrope most of our life
very much afraid of the fall.
We step carefully one foot after the other
and are not sure-footed at all.
We're afraid to look down
And we fear the height
One false move and our security
fades quickly from our sight.
Insecurity builds up in our mind
and starts its dangerous attack.
We become afraid of what we must face
and know we can't turn back.
Some can overcome this situation
And leave the tightrope behind.
But most will walk that tightrope
And what is it they will find?
Insecurity.

Living With The Big C
Living with the big C
is a paradox of life and death,
the sword of Damocles
held above your head.
You search for treatment
grasping at any cure
you can find
to set it in remission.
The more you grasp
for the magic cure
the more your life
ebbs farther away.
Still you hope with prayer
one day in the near future
the cure you’re looking for
will eventually be found.

The Abyss
To test the 'Stare into the Abyss' bit,
Toroweap Point is a perfect place-
Hang your legs over a volcanic 3,000-foot drop,
And stare anywhere you like.
If you are firm in your commitments,
The Abyss will free you;
If you have low imagination,
The Abyss will drive you away;
If you are a great philosopher, poet, scientist, or musician,
The Abyss will nestle in your heart;
If you have drunk far too much wine,
You will become one with the Abyss.

Death
Death wavers above our heads
like the sword of Damocles,
waiting for the moment
when we are unaware
to strike and cut us down.
We know not when nor want to know.
Better, it come in the silence of the night
when we will not be aware
then we will not fight
until the inevitable end.
Just rest our head in sleep
the long cold sleep of death.

Food and taste
There is good food and good bed.
There is fine wine and fine tune.
By is a cute lady with a melody.
You, as a king, are restless to taste.
The sword of Damocles hangs there.
The poor have taste, no means.
The rich have means, no taste.

The Alligator...
detach the cover
the book is naked
its face is blanked
it has no identity
open the page
there are no changes in
those prints
the letters still make
the command
the sentences end
in their usual paragraphs
in a new sense,
to signify a little difference
there shall be no periods,
as you notice
there are only commas,
there is a meaning to this,
something in us always moves, continues, serrated,
double-edged sharpness of the mind
sometimes, a comma creates a sense of suspension,
like a bridge, a lull, a disbelief,
no one likes it, because everyone in us, trained as we were
in schools with always in mind
completions, and endings, we, do hate, incomplete returns
like a rumor with nothing definite as to
what happened to the
subject,
the scene is frozen, nothing thaws it,
the word is hanging, the journey of the feeling is still at the middle
of the map, the red dot still unreached,
and there is no stopping and this precisely makes you breathless
like you are having a swing, like you are
suspended in a rope still not well tightened,
feel it, do not be horrified, just feel it,
precisely, this is the truth about our existence
sword of Damocles up
and the gaping mouth of the abyss beneath
looking like
the more than sign in
basic mathematics
the mouth of the
see you later alligator,

Returned
He forced it on himself, like prejudice
Year by year it came
Strong and bitter
Never sweeter
When enjoined to pain
Can the Vikings do it?
A cold Germanic horde
Force a king to do it
Cut down Damocles sword
But love is never finer
Bleeding forcefully
And life is never truer
Down upon the knees
Lie, you knew your Keeper
Knew himself a fraud
Forced his heart to buckle
And brought him back to God.

Early Works - Indecision
We are all searchers
some try to capture a childhood
we never had the way we wanted.
I am like Macbeth
a man who could never make up his mind
until it is or was too late
the consequence is the good things,
the important things pass us by
without our even realizing.
We are all full of indecision
a human frailty that has been
inbred within us for years
being so we are fallible
when we make mistakes
only with some
life is one big mistake.
We try to prove our worthiness,
but worthy of anything is any man?
The question hangs over us
like the sword of Damocles.

The Sword of Damocles
The Sword of Damocles doth swing,
Doth swing from me to you
It taketh my heart and love from here
And sets it in thine hand
Wilt thee grasp it tight and hold it dear
And make a troth with me
To be my friend and more besides
And forever hold me near?
Please answer me this request
And send a picture do,
And in return I'll tell you how
It'll be for me and you.

Blondin Walking The Tightrope
Everyman is Blondin,
Every lifetime a rope,
finer than a spider's thread,
sharper than a sword,
stretched between birth and death
(breath and breath)
across Niagara.
(Charles Blondin, a French acrobat, was the first man ever to cross Niagara Falls by tightrope in 1859.)

Stardust
Our hearts rule our heads
when it comes to love,
often we leap before we look
and many times disaster occurs
when we are blinded by
the stardust in our eyes.
We see things we want to see
and not what is really there,
we walk the tightrope of love
rushing head long without a care
and get blinded to reality
by the stardust in our eyes.
We stumble on the tightrope
get hurt when we fall,
but climb back on again
when we get more
stardust in our eyes.

Kaleidoscope
The final nail always hangs like the Damocles sword
Like a subtle sentence thrown in on caution's edge
Some love cant fully embrace, no not entirely yet
A sensitive woman who finds herself her lover's mistress,
A decade and a half of a chasm between two lovers, in years
Walk the shadows, as whispers rustle like palm leaves
From thoughts that always binge - two steps forward and then one back
Caught in the slow poisoning of a self-righteous world
As it snares, tighter and tighter - the churn of ignorant minds
The inherent pull of norms that eventually spills everything else
Spilt love, spilt loyalty, spilt silent promises that rips days to shreds
Till Eden's found once again, wisdom apples thrown in afresh
Serpents are passé, just the same fears over and over again
To love back because you want it all; a little more each day
Haunts a beggar's stretched arms, eyes that scare the norms
Do you reach out to him, do you not? Are you the one who breaks the clan?
Most often its back to familiar portals, the whispering corridors win
But then again dances in, another brilliant day from the givers
They break the rules; the sword disappears under the power of love
Just the hair it hangs by, all too present; the only real constant...

Abyss, notwithstanding
.
The deep abyss that divides us
Couldn’t block us.
We could still cast our glances,
Smell each other’s presence,
Listen to silent message,
Feel our aura, taste the image,
Each musing on the other in visualization
As if we were not on the opposite cliffs.
Which of our five senses
Can the abyss put seal to?
The abyss is welcome
In that we are beyond suspicion.
