Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all his sentences short, or that he avoid all detail and treat his subjects only in outline, but that every word tell.

Standing On Ceremony
Remember your manners
Will you please take your hat off
Your mother is dying
Listen to her cough
We were always standing on ceremony
We were always standing on ceremony
Cant you show some respect please
Although you didnt in real life
Your mother is dying
And I God damn well hope youre satisfied
We were always standing on ceremony
We were always standing on ceremony
So please play another song on that juke box
Please play another pretty sad song for me
And if that phone rings, tell them that you havent seen me
If that last phone rings
Tell them that you havent seen me for weeks
And this one heres on me
Standing on ceremony, standing on ceremony
Standing on ceremony, standing on ceremony
Standing on ceremony, you were always standing on ceremony
(standing, on ceremony)
(standing, on ceremony)
(standing, on ceremony)
(standing, on ceremony)
(standing, on ceremony)
(standing, on ceremony)
...

Our purpose in Vietnam is to prevent the success of aggression. It is not conquest, it is not empire, it is not foreign bases, it is not domination. It is, simply put, just to prevent the forceful conquest of South Vietnam by North Vietnam.

Just wait
Things come to
You, just wait,
Events even
Overrun you,
Just wait,
Sit down, &
Relax, just wait,
Tell then,
What you want,
Ask, and not
Demand, just wait,
Your wish comes
To you, everything
Fulfills, just wait,
The heavens
& the sky meet,
just wait, the
floor and the
ceiling meet,
just wait,
they will hug
you, they will
kiss you, they
all miss you,
you were once
with them,
you were away
for such a long
time, and they
always meet
you, and tell
who and why
so just wait,
you, just wait.
You don’t even
Have to, here
They come.
here, they are,
be glad, just
be you, in gladness.

Everybody is Getting Out of Town
Population getting out of town,
Population wearing running shoes,
Population wondering which road to choose,
Everybody's getting out of town.
They all want to leave; they would if they could,
But right now the road ain't no good,
If you ain't crying, you might as well laugh,
While you're trying to get out of town.
Power plant, glowing in the dark,
Nobody sure what set off the spark,
They say the island is sinking fast,
Everybody's getting out of town.
Population looking for a sign,
Whose fault is it, living on the fault line,
Better do better if there IS a next time,
But for now, just get out of town.
Population looking for something to eat,
Population looking for what was the street,
If you leaving, all you got is your feet,
Good luck getting out of town.

Two Meet To Discuss
Two meet to discuss,
What is needed for both to give up.
But neither will admit,
Where they both sit to discuss...
Has been taken by them,
From others through corruption.
And to meet diplomatically,
To speak about how to split...
Decisively their stolen greed,
Is ridiculous!
However...
The presentation makes for good,
Televised public relations

No Matter How Outsiders May Look At It
I've done the best I could.
But no matter how outsiders may look at it,
To say what I did or did not do for anyone else.
There are some things I am still unable to do!
With an awakening done to realize,
What it is I 'can' prioritize.
I can not transfer over to another,
My motivation.
I can not transfer over to another,
My devotion and discipline.
I can not transfer over to another,
Reason and purpose with a drive to accomplish.
I can not transfer over to another,
An ability to wait patiently while sacrificing time.
I can not transfer over to another,
The pain that is felt when someone else...
Has time to criticize AND character assassinate,
My efforts and abilities I had volunteered in the past...
With a deception that is effortless.
And for them convenient to ensure its effectiveness.
To be able to survive,
Dancing through that kind of ammunition...
Is a miracle of God's I can not re-create.
And...
Do I seek to abandon my peace of mind,
I was blessed to find while recovering from exhaustion...
And diseases that came to feed on me as if I was a treat?
I'll give you a hint.
Get out of my face!
Go solicit your act of 'Together We Are Stronger If We Unify'...
Somewhere else.
I am 'still' a work -in-progress trying to associate forgiveness,
With a forgetting I can not seem to be able to eliminate.
But...
One never knows what the future holds!
Does one?

The tenth month of the year
Here comes October with a little lull
And he feels the fall gets ready to soothes his everlasting dreams.
Someone plucks the strings of his old lute
But he has to sing the same old song
That lust becomes stale.
The pythoness of sorrow grabbed his soul eagerly
And he is only a stalemate on the chessboard of decaying life.
