I grew up thinking that you were supposed to read and write all your waking hours.

One thing that is almost always said to me is, I grew up with you. They are meeting me and feel that they actually grew up with me. I was with them during their play hours and thinking hours. I was a part of their childhoods. That's one of the most amazing things.

Maybe My Baby
(eric carmen)
Maybe my babys got a new man
Who can take her where she wants to go
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know
I call her on the telephone
But shes never where shes supposed to be
Lately when were all alone
Well it seems she dont want any part of me
Dont you know Im gonna lose my mind
If theres someone else after all this time
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new man
Who can take her where she wants to go
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know
(well somethin tells me)
Maybe my babys got a new guy
And hes really puttin on a show
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know
I cant believe its come to this
But my heart keeps tellin me theres somethin wrong
I feel the difference in her kiss
I wanna know what Ill do when shes really gone
Well, dont you know Im gonna lose my mind
If theres someone else after all this time
(I keep thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new man
Who can take her where she wants to go
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know
(well somethin tells me)
Maybe my babys got a new guy
And hes really puttin on a show
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know
I cant seem to pin her down
Friends tell me all Im getting is the runaround
Im sitting home and its saturday night
Is she moving in with someone else tonight
Maybe my babys got a new man
Who can take her where she wants to go
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know
(well somethin tells me)
Maybe my babys got a new guy
And hes really puttin on a show
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know
Yes, and Im not supposed to know
And Im not supposed to know
Maybe my babys got a new man
Who can take her where she wants to go
(Im thinking)
Maybe my babys got a new lover
And Im not supposed to know

I think it's time for me to get out, because at the moment I'm only thinking about fishing 21 hours a day, and they're the waking moments. And even when I close my eyes I'm thinking about it.
Writing Is My Strength
I love to write.
I can sit and write
for hours and hours.
I love to write poetry
on how I feel.
It’s so great to have
writing as your strength.
I like it when people
read it too
But.....WRITING IS MY STRENGTH!

Wing Pages Of The Butterfly
at the nursery
while people
are at purchase
and at transactions
a blue butterfly
comes by
and opens its pages to me
swift and quick
and it says to me:
'Read! Read!
Read my pages! '
'I can’t read, '
I say,
amused
at this brash butterfly
'Read and write!
Read and write
about me,
and all flitting butterflies
Read
and write, you silly! '
it commands
And so I read
and I copy
and these are the words
the words from those
pages
the butterfly
holds up to me

It...
IT IS everyday
like everything that you do: waking up
washing the face
brushing the teeth
combing the hair
defecating on the
throne
in the comfort room
taking breakfast
reading the news
watching tv
waiting and going
and coming back
on the table
searching for words
to mark your day
above all those
rantings
take the cure: write, write,
write
they follow you and
read and say something
about you
perhaps it will matter
that your existence
is being confirmed
by all
you too stalk as they
stalk you
it is fair then.
They are your ITs
And you are their
It too.
but actually it would have been
a better world
if we did not write at all.
simply because
we have chosen the
right course:
talking.

Letter To Hermoine
Do do do dah
Do do do dah dah da da da
Do do do dah dah
The hand that wrote this letter
Sweeps the pillow clean
So rest your head and read a treasured dream
I care for no one else but you
I tear my soul to cease the pain
I think maybe you feel the same
What can we do?
Im not quite sure what were supposed to do
So Ive been writing just for you
They say your life is going very well
They say you sparkle like a different girl
But something tells me that you hide
When all the world is warm and tired
You cry a little in the dark
Well so do i
Im not quite sure what youre supposed to say
But I can see its not okay
He makes you laugh
He brings you out in style
He treats you well
And makes you up real fine
And when hes strong
Hes strong for you
And when you kiss
Its something new
But did you ever call my name
Just by mistake?
Im not quite sure what Im supposed to do
So Ill just write some love to you
Du du duuu, du-du-du do-do-do do do doaoaoaaaa

Is All About You
1 hour unity,
2 hours peace,
3 hours playing,
4 hours sleeping,
5 hours smiling,
6 hours living,
7 hours trusting in your muse!
For this river is mine and yours foeevers;
And, i want to be close to you always.
1 hour smiling,
2 hours learning,
3 hours thinking,
4 hours with your muse,
5 hours teaching,
6 hours working,
But, the 7th hour comes for me to sleep with you;
Because, this love is all about you! !
And, i want to be with you always.

I was supposed to go to drama school and then go to New York and do theatre. But I grew up on all those fabulous movies and had read all the bold Hollywood books, and I thought I just had to take a look.

Write Erase Write Erase
this is what happens to this poem
when you have nothing to write
tonight....write, erase, write, erase
you are waiting
for an inspiration that does not come
you keep on waiting and then something comes
you write it, you think about it, you read it and you find nothing
worth the letter you assign to it
then you erase it and you are honest enough to admit that there is nothing
beautiful
not even a purpose, and then you write the word again, you ponder, there is
nothing worth its existence
there is nothing to grow in that word chosen
you erase it again, you write it and then there is this space of thinking,
what is it? you ask. what is it really?
it is this denial.
this negation of
what you are
that keeps you writing.
you stand by the window. Look out
the road. You see a dog, and it is howling again
to the moon
and to the wrong tree
it is barking.

Questions
Write me what you're wearing! Is it warm?
Write me how you lie! Do you lie there softly?
Write me how you look! Is it still the same?
Write me what you're missing! Is it my arm?
Write me how you are! Have you been spared?
Write me what they're doing! Do you have enough courage?
Write me what you're doing! Is it good?
Write me, who are you thinking of? Is it me?
Freely, I've given you only my questions.
And I hear the answers, how they fall.
When you're tired, I can't carry it for you.
If you're hungry, I have nothing for you to eat.
And so now I leave the world
No longer there, as if I've forgotten you.

She Is Sleepless, She Is Probing
They read your lines
They perhaps like you
They try to read you
In between
she is sleepless
And she pities you
she is probing
And she writes for you too
And you feel so honored
Comes our arrogance
You say you write
Only for yourself
For art’s sake
You say you cannot
Write for no other
You say you cannot
Stop writing
Your essence is just that
To write for no other
To write or you die
Be kind
Let them read you through the night
Let them follow you
Warn them though
They may have followed
A blind man eking his way through
His darkness
Without even a cane to feel his way.
The Virgin Mary
And Veronica
The crying mother
And the cloth to wipe a bloody face
Don’t stretch further
There is no Christ in me.

I Am Too Tired To Write A Good Poem
I AM TOO TIRED TO WRITE A GOOD POEM
I am too tired to write a good poem
I am too cold also
I have been out all day in the cold and the rain
I have been doing errands since early in the morning
I babysat for four hours in the afternoon
I went out again in the cold and rain to buy a few groceries
I tried to write and could not
I read and overate a few times
I tried to write
But I could not
I am very tired now
A poem should not be a simple clear description of one’s own mood at the moment
I am too tired to write a good poem
But I try to write
And this is the result
A poor poem indeed.

Writing Poetry
Some people write poetry
to fulfil their dream,
others write it as a personal diary.
While yet more write to protest.
Some write sonnets
for unfrequented love.
Some bring laughter
to sad faces somewhere,
while others dwell on memories
that they would like to share.
Some write of love, while
others write of God.
Write as you will on anything,
but the main point is that you write,
and give joy to all that will read.

A Song About You
If I could write a song
I’d write a song about you
I would write about how
You’re all I can every think about
How you flood my dreams each night
How thinking of you takes my breath away
When I look up to the satellites
If I could write a song
I’d write a song about you
I would write about how
The long lost butterflies returned
How I hope my number you’ll dial
And how your memory smothers me with smiles
If I could write a song
I’d write a song about you
I would write about how
You were the only one
Who had enough of me to break my heart
And when love took over my heart
You tore it all apart.
If I could write a song
I’d write a song about you
I would write about how
I gave you my heart
Caught up in the thought
That we were off to a great start
But how you threw a damn dart
Right into the center of my heart
If I could write a song
I’d write a song about you
About how you crushed my heart
Not bothering to look back.
If I could write a song
I’d write a song about you

I Write to Tell the Truth I Have Known
I DREAMED I WAS A POEM
I dreamed I was a poem
And the universe read and reread me-
Until waking up I understood
I would never be written again.
I WRITE TO TELL THE TRUTH I HAVE KNOWN
I write to tell the truth I have known -
But there is so much truth
And so much life unrecognized and unremembered-
Most of my life has gone by
Unknown to me-
And even my most intense moments
Cannot be remembered so as to be re- experienced.

Three Words
Today I wanted to write you a note
But I didn't know what to say
There's just so much to tell you
That I couldn't tell in a single day
When you asked me if I was okay
And I replied yes
I was just thinking thinking about
How I was going to write you this
Of course it's nothing bad
But something in my mind keeps occuring
And keeps thinking about the wording
Of three very special words.
Now that I've said them
I wonder if there is more to do
To show you
That I love you
I promise I'll find a way
To show you one day
But as for now
I'll think of it somehow.

You're supposed to be my parents
You're supposed to love me
You're supposed to be there for me
You're not supposed to call me names
Or even hit me around
I shouldn't have to get two jobs
i shouldn't have pay for my own food
Why are you like this?
you were so sweet before
You're supposed to kiss me good night
You're supposed to hug me close
you don't do any of that
who are you?
i just don't know anymore
