A country so rich that it can send people to the moon still has hundreds of thousands of its citizens who can't read. That's terribly troubling to me.

A story in Asimov's is read by hundreds of thousands of people.
The Retired Commander In Chief
For one who profess a strong belief in God
To say the least I found it rather odd
That he sent his Country's troops to fight in his uncalled for war
From their home shore to a Nation afar.
A war where hundreds of thousands of people have died
Their right to life by him has been denied
Yet for his crimes against Humanity he will never pay
An honourable life in retirement is his lot today.
For most of his war dead terrorists he does blame
Terrorists his war created for to commit acts of shame
He should have known that's what happens when other Countries you invade
For conflict the price in human blood is paid.
A hero to many but a major criminal to me
He gave rise to crimes against Humanity
As well as causing thousands of deaths he destroyed the archictecture of another Land
Many in positions of power history does not understand.
The mothers of his war dead grieving today
Leave him to Karma is all one can say
His life achievements hundreds of thousands of war dead
Perhaps the power at his disposal did go to his head.

Citizens
citizens...
of America, of Russia,
of Africa, of China,
of Syria, of Israel,
of France, of Italy....
no more!
citizens of the world!
no longer can one country
make it at the expense
of all others....
the walls between us were lies,
and they have fallen....
now we are a people
whose homeland is family!
there's no other way
humanity can survive!
citizens of the world!

Only One Mother
Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky,
But only one mother to dry your eyes,
Hundreds of shells on the shore together,
But only one mother to have forever
Hundreds of birds that go singing by,
But only one mother to help you try
Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather.
But only one mother to treat us like treasure
Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
But only one mother to help us move on
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
But only one mother the world wide over
Hundreds of people to tell apart
But only one mother to give us her heart

I have this theory that people in Hollywood don't read. They read 'Vanity Fair' and then consider themselves terribly well read. I think I can basically write about anybody without getting caught.

Dear Mr. President
I'm looking outside of my windows
The view that i see
Is a child and mama
And the child is begging for money
Tell me why, tell me why
The woman is blind is she so broke
The kid's dealing crime
It's such a beautiful city
But the world is burning it down
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
It's such a beautiful city
But the world is it burning down
I go to my room to turn on the t.v
I sit myself down
And i start laughing hard
'cause this man he's asking for money
He sats "if you send me lots of cash i'll send you
Stuff to make you rich fast"
It's such a wonderful country
But the man he's burning it down
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
It's such a wonderful country
But the man he's burning it down
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
And it's burning down
And it's called the u.s of a.
One day i'm going to have lots of money
But i'll have to give up
For this rich society
Oh please mr. president will you lend me a future
'cause you'll just get it back
From the little blind woman
With the kid on the corner
And the people all over, doin' crack
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
It's such a wonderful country
But the man he's burning it down
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
And it's burning down
And it's called the u.s of a.
I'm walking outside on a sunny day
With no one around
And i wonder what's wrong
The i hear this loud piercing siren
Oh my god the bomb has just dropped
And everybody climbed right on top
Screaming, what a wonderful country
But the man he's burning it down
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
It's such a wonderful country
But the man he's burning it down
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
And it's burning down
And it's called the u.s of a

A Woman Of High Profile
Men in millions adore my image.
Men in thousands fantasize my figure.
Men in hundreds built their hopes around me.
Men in tens and fives send their proposals.
Much in demand, I am in ecstasy.
Must I marry one and be a spent force?

I Am A Mad Man
Hundreds of thousands people
Hundreds of thousands years
In the corner of their hearts
Lives the black grain dolorous
Creates a web
Gives a poisonous pain
I become very sad ……..
To lessen the sadness I laughed
The laugh was very loud
Before that I was very sane
Now I am a mad man.
Now in the corner of my heart the sorrows dwell
Making a bonfire taking the sense as a fuel
The fire has a too much glow too much heat
My heart bleeds, my mind takes a fit
To me now there is no difference of compassion and cruelty
People are making fun out of me very cheaply.
I could have saved myself very easily
If I was a blunt
If I was an indifferent
But I was very sensitive
I could not bear with the grief
Just to lessen my sadness, I laughed
The laugh was very loud
Before that I was very sane
Now I am a mad man.

Tax
Tax is for the welfare of the masses
That’s why more tax should levied
Upon the rich than the poor
In such a manner
So that a desired balance is maintained.
There should be no filthy rich
In a poor country
So the government should impose tax
On this people couple of times more
Than the ordinary rich.
Education tax, poverty elimination tax
And tax to rehabilitate the beggars
Can be imposed on the very rich.
The government must go for moderate tax
For the poor people
And they should not slaughter the hen
That lays egg of gold.
The Muslims should give tax properly
Since it is obligatory for them
So in a Muslim country
The government should highlight this
In order to increase revenue.

While we have entertained the contention that a deed may make more propaganda than hundreds of speeches, thousands of articles, and tens of thousands of pamphlets, we have held that an arbitrary act of violence will not necessarily have such an effect.

I go to Malawi twice a year. It's where two of my children were adopted from, and I have a lot of projects there that I go and check up on and children who I look after. It's sort of a commitment that I've made to this country and the hundreds of thousands of children there who have been orphaned by AIDS.

Christmas Is For The Wealthy
You've heard it said often by others before
That Christmas is for the wealthy that and nothing more
No parties for those who are in dire poverty
Their Christmas Day dinner perhaps bread and tea.
With Christmas is only for the wealthy many would not agree
But that's their opinion and that's fine with me
They say we are God's children and Jesus God's son
On a cross on Calvary died for everyone
But if hundreds of thousands of people every year of hunger do die
That God loves everyone must be based on a lie
And it does seem a very sad thing for to say
That thousands die of hunger on Christmas Day.
Despite what the religious people may say
Christmas is for the wealthy I see it that way
In the top restaurants they socialize and dine
And the best of food wash down with expensive wine.

The exiles
As an exile I live
in a country that despises me,
despises my whole nation, our language,
the colour of our skin
where the president
has opened the doors wide
to all of Africa,
and citizens from other countries
are more welcome here than us
but even if he tries
to drive me and my people
into the sea, as immigrants
right into the wide world,
like my ancestors
I have sprouted from this very earth
and there’s no other place
where I can make a living,
no other place that calls me
with the same intensity
and although work is being reserved
by the colour of skin
and my patience is running very thin
and I struggle to survive
in the situation that I am in
no highfalutin balderdash
of this country only belonging
to those who are black
is going to break my people or me
and still we trust God,
to change circumstances,
to change the mindset op people,
and if not to conquer and destroy
to make this country a place
in which all its citizens
have the opportunity
to make a living
and to be free in speech,
in dignity, in association,
in religious beliefs,
to live a life
according to your own culture and values.
