The newspapers loved pinup pictures of pretty young swimmers, and as a national champion, I got more than my share of space in the sports pages.

School Photos from the Past
They loved the school activities
Took part and did it well
When you see old school photos
Instantly you can tell
Sports were top on their list
Of accomplishments to make
They had to keep their grades up
If sports they were to take
Don’t you love the pictures?
Though faded now with time
Young folks worked together
Created friendships that would bind
Memories are so precious here
That will forever last
So fun it is to view and enjoy
School photos from the past!

Pretty Boy
I lie awake at night
See things in black and white
I've only got you inside my mind
You know you have made me blind
I lie awake and pray
That you will look my way
I have all this longing in my heart
I knew it right from the start
Oh my pretty pretty boy I love you
Like I never ever loved no one before you
Pretty pretty boy of mine
Just tell me you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy
I need you
Oh my pretty pretty boy I do
Let me inside
Make me stay right beside you
I used to write your name
And put it in a frame
And sometime I think I hear you call
Right from my bedroom wall
You stay a little while
And touch me with your smile
And what can I say to make you mine
To reach out for you in time
Oh my pretty pretty boy I love you
Like I never ever loved no one before you
Pretty pretty boy of mine
Just tell me you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy
I need you
Oh my pretty pretty boy I do
Let me inside
Make me stay right beside you
[BRIDGE]
Oh pretty boy
Say you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy I love you
Like I never ever loved no one before you
Pretty pretty boy of mine
Just tell me you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy
I need you
Oh my pretty pretty boy I do
Let me inside
Make me stay right beside you

They wanted me to play more sports because they were acutely sensitive to their children being one hundred percent American, and they believed that all Americans played sports and loved sports.

We must not become the new puritans and reject our society. We must address and master the future together. It can be done if we restore the belief that we share a sense of national community, that we share a common national endeavor. It can be done.

So Very Young
pretty young one
you know how it will be
soon when you grow old
without us
pretty young one
you will know how this journey
will be when we start to sail
without the rudder
pretty young one
what will you be when i am dead
and gone?
oh very young one
what will you leave us next time?

The Loved Ones
Dont get smart or sarcastic
He snaps back just like elastic
Spare us the theatrics and the verbal gymnastics
We break wise guys just like matchsticks
What would the loved ones say
Your pride and joy is all blown up
What would the loved ones say
The bride and boy are barely grown up
Youre not my particular poison
Ive got nothing against you myself
You could have been a danger to the boys and girls
Now youre a danger to yourself
Oh what would the loved ones say
What would the loved ones say
Oh what would the loved ones say
What would the loved ones say
The ugly little scenes run round your bed
The ugly little dreams you get the needle and no thread
They stitched you up this time
They say youll do
They bitch about your pretty face turning ugly on you
The butcher the baker and the bassline maker
Say you can leave her I can take her
You live your whole life like a minute or two later
One day its going to end sooner than greater
What would the loved ones say
Hell be remembered young and pretty
What would the loved ones say
Now hes a hit in every city
Now theres a name well never forget
Theres one born every minute
Dont pin a medal on me yet
They might be waiting for you

Everyday I Die
The problems of need
I need you
Obscene dreams in
Rusty beds
No one came here
Tonight
I pulled on me
I need to
I unstick pages and read
I look at pictures of you
I smell the lust in my hands
Everyday I die
Her favorite trick
Was to suck me inside
Oh so very
Art nouveau
Completely false
Feelings of love I dont
No one knows, but that died
Years ago
I unstick pages and read
I look at pictures of you
I smell the lust in my hands
Everyday I die

Books
The universe (which others call the library). . .
-Jorge Luis Borges
Books which are stitched up the center with coarse white thread
Books on the beach with sunglass-colored pages
Books about food with pictures of weeping grapefruits
Books about baking bread with browned corners
Books about long-haired Frenchmen with uncut pages
Books of erotic engravings with pages that stick
Books about inns whose stars have sputtered out
Books of illuminations surrounded by darkness
Books with blank pages & printed margins
Books with fanatical footnotes in no-point type
Books with book lice
Books with rice-paper pastings
Books with book fungus blooming over their pages
Books with pages of skin with flesh-colored bindings
Books by men in love with the letter O
Books which smell of earth whose pages turn

Space And Time
There ain't no space and time
To keep our love alive
We have existence and it's all we share
There ain't no real truth
There ain't no real lies
Keep on pushin' 'cause I know it's there
Oh, can you just tell me
It's all right (It's all right)
Let me sleep tonight
Oh, can you comfort me
Tonight (It's all right)
Make it all seem fine
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
There'll be no lullabies
There'll be no tears cried
We feel numb 'cause we don't see
That if we really care
And we really loved
Think of all the joy we'd feel
Oh, can you just tell me
It's all right (It's all right)
Let me sleep tonight
Oh, can you comfort me
Tonight (It's all right)
Make it all seem fine
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
Ain't got no lullaby, no, no
Ain't got no lullaby, oh, no
There is no space and time
Oh lord
There is no space and time
Oh lord
We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there

I wanna take you by the hand and make you understand

Well, I guess they saved the best for last

And if you think you know everything about me, then check this out
