I sure love Ireland. The first trip I ever made was last year when I did this record in Dublin.

Dublin

After our affair
I swore that Id leave dublin
And in that line Id left behind
The years, the tears, the memories and you
In dublin
At the quays friends come and say farewell
Wed laugh and joke and smoke
And later on the boat
Id cry over you
In dublin
How can I leave the town that brings me down
That has no jobs
Is blessed by god
And makes me cry
Dublin
And at sea with flowing hair
Id think of dublin
Of grafton street and derby square
And those for whom I really care and you
In dublin

(Can't You) Trip Like I Do

I've got the understanding of a 4-year-old
I've got the piece of mind of a killer soul
I've got the rationale of a new york cop
I've got the patience of a chopping block yeah
trip like I do
trip like I do (oh my god this is the best)
I've got the acumen of a season broke
I've got the lack of say of a billion souls
I've got the world on my back but I don't seem to care
I've got the comprehension of a world unaware yeah
trip like i do
trip like I do (oh my god this is the best)
trip like i do (mm..i want you to trip like i do)
can't you, can't you trip like i do
can't you, can't you trip like I do
laid down my back i can't sleep cause I'm falling
eyes in my teeth i can't see cause i'm eating
head full of noise I can't think cause it's crushing
back on my feet like a freight train I'm coming
can everybody feel like I do
can everybody feel like I do (oh my god)
can't you can't you trip like I do
can't you can't you trip like I do (oh my god)
can't you trip can't you think can't you feel like I do
can't you walk can't you breathe can't you trip like I do...

Ireland

O WE have loved you through cold and rain
And pitiless frost,
Consuming our offering of blood and brain
Gladly again and again and again,
Though it all seemed lost,
Ireland, Ireland!
O we will fight, fight on for you till
Your anguish is past,
The wronged ones righted, the tyrants still. —
Though God has not saved you, yet we will,
At the last, at the last,
Ireland, Ireland!
O we will love you in warmth and light
And the happy day,
When you have forgotten the terrible night,
Standing proud and beautiful bright
For ever and aye,
Ireland, Ireland!

On The 09 All Ireland Football Final

For the Cork Gaelic Footballers another humbling defeat
By their neighbours Kerry in Croke Park once more they've been beat
In Gaelic Football in Ireland Kerry to the fore
With 36 All Ireland titles and their fans hoping for more.

My mum was from Kerry that I cannot deny
But why it aches me when Cork lose a big game I do wonder why?
Though long absent from Ireland a sense of parochialism I do retain
Some-things from our past always with us do remain.

But Kerry fans with their 09 All Ireland victory need not get carried away
As their hurlers are quite poor though that does seem a sad thing for to have to say
Like Kilkenny Ireland's premier hurling County Kerry G A A rankings low
The lowest even in Munster as all G A A fans do know.

For the Liam Mcarthy Cup Kerry Hurlers never allowed for to play
For that not deemed to be good enough by the administrators of the G A A
Like the Kilkenny Footballers Kerry Hurlers amongst the lowly rate
Though their many Football victories their fans have to celebrate.

Kerry are 09 All Ireland Senior Football Champions their neighbours Cork they did outplay
In Croke Park in Dublin Ireland on September's third sunday
But Cork the only winners of the Hurling and Football double for them an amazing feat
With Ireland best Football and Hurling Counties at the highest level do compete.

Christy Ring

I'll tell you about a great hurler he hurled his way into renown
And his fame spread distant from Cork City through many a village and town
He inspired the poets to write of him and the song writers his praises did sing
And he was the hurler of all Seasons the one and only Christy Ring.

He was born in the year nineteen twenty and he died in nineteen seventy nine
And he played from the thirties until the late sixties and as he aged he matured like good wine
He won eighteen Railway cup medals a record that will never be beat
Yet he was a down to earth fellow a man who was free of conceit.

Of him there has been many stories his imprint in hurling he made
As long as hurling is played he will be remembered for the many great games that he played
In Cork, Limerick, Thurles and Killarney and in Dublin in famed Croke Park
In his three marvellous decades of hurling the wizard from Cloyne left his mark.

When I was a boy in the fifties Christy Ring in his mid thirties then
Yet still one of Ireland's best hurlers he helped Cork and Glen Rovers to many a win
He revelled in fierce competition and even in his forties played against the best
And he always worried his opponents the hurler who always impressed.

The Cork and the Glen Rovers wizard his fame spread beyond Ireland's shore
his name will live as long as the game of hurling and that will be forever more
He inspired the poets to write of him and the song writers of him did sing
And he was the hurler of all Seasons the legendary Christy Ring.

Ireland, Ireland

Down thy valleys, Ireland, Ireland,
Down thy valleys green and sad,
Still thy spirit wanders wailing,
Wanders wailing, wanders mad.

Long ago that anguish took thee,
Ireland, Ireland, green and fair,
Spoilers strong in darkness took thee,
Broke thy heart and left thee there.

Down thy valleys, Ireland, Ireland,
Still thy spirit wanders mad;
All too late they love that wronged thee,
Ireland, Ireland, green and sad.

How She Went To Ireland

Dora’s gone to Ireland
Through the sleet and snow;
Promptly she has gone there
In a ship, although
Why she’s gone to Ireland
Dora does not know.

That was where, yea, Ireland,
Dora wished to be:
When she felt, in lone times,
Shoots of misery,
Often there, in Ireland,
Dora wished to be.

Hence she’s gone to Ireland,
Since she meant to go,
Through the drift and darkness
Onward labouring, though
That she’s gone to Ireland
Dora does not know.

The Grind

I never thought a first time love would ever last
How could a kiss like that knock me flat on my ass
Heh hea...
The burning bed
The roses dead
And now I\'m dancing with myself
Yeah... I\'m missing you
Just like you want me to
You made me trip into the grind
Now I can\'t get\'choo off of my mind
Yeah... your sweet talking hip shaking wobble gonna blow a man away
Kiss butt... and guess what
Even double crossin\' dogs have their day... hea ha
So forget about... regret about... you\'re right I ain\'t afraid to say
Yeah... I\'m missing you
Just like you want me to
You made me trip into the grind
Now I can\'t get\'choo off
And you know I tried
Leads to the same old lie
You made me slip into the grind
Now I can\'t get\'choo off of the cloud we was on
And now it\'s all gone
Tell me why... why... why... why...
Why ain\'t I getting thorugh
Ain\'t no lie there out of love... love... love
Tell me was it good... for you
Tell me what\'choo want
Yeah... cause I\'m missing you
Just like you know I do
You made me trip into the grind
Now I can\'t get\'choo off...
And you know I tried
Leads to the same old why
You made me trip into the grind
Now I can\'t... can\'t... can\'t get you...
Get you...
Get you...
Get you...
Get you...
Get you...
Get you ...
Get you...
Off of my mind...

Back In Ireland (Long Version)

This is a journey into the past, the present, and the future
Now close your eyes and join the trip
It's 6am in the morning, and we find ourselves somewhere in Ireland
Welcome Posse!
We're kickin' up!
Once again we have the plan
Driving you wild as good as we can
Won't stop us now, we're gonna make you move
Raving outside to the passionate groove
So I wanna check the microphone, I wanna check the microphone
I wanna check, I wanna check
The Rick, the Ferris, and MC H.P. Scooter!
Back in Ireland
Yes!
C'mon!
Somewhere is Ireland, banging the bass
Join our trip to this weird place
Back to nature, where we can be
Faster and harder, loud and free
I wanna check the microphone, I wanna check the microphone
I wanna check, I wanna check
The Rick, the Ferris, and MC H.P. Scooter!
Back in the Ireland
Bass!
We Started in 1994! In 1996, we're still on the case
Hold tight crew! Together, no-one can stop us now!
So I wanna check the microphone, I wanna check the microphone
I wanna check, I wanna check
The bird, the tree, the cow, the seas,
The Rick, the Ferris and MC H.P. !

Mangan

Arguably the greatest poet old Ireland has seen
'Twas he penned the poem known as 'Dark Rosaleen'
In eighteen forty nine in his mid forties in poverty he died
Though true genius of him never can be denied
The great James Clarence Mangan Ireland's National bard
His journey through life was to say the least hard
He lived as he died in abject poverty
Yet one could not name many poets as great as he
From consumption and poor diet and neglect he died very young
For him no State funeral and he was unsung
Despite his hard life it seems a remarkable feat
That so many great poems the great poet did bequeath
To Ireland and it's people though he died just past his prime
As one of the poor souls of the Dublin of his time.

The Flag Issue at Parkhead in the Fifties

In Scotland in the fifties,
In football terms,
Protest was a blaze
From the grumpy old chairmen,
They took to a cause
That never since has died;
The flying of Ireland’s flag
Over Parkhead’s sky.

So bold Robert Kelly,
Born to Celtic’s dynasty,
Acted upon his heart
And wrote himself into history,
He sat at his desk
With pen in hand,
And wrote a letter, for a favour,
From the Irish PM.

“Dear Mr.DeValera,
How have you been?
Have you been reading the results
Of the bhoys in green?
Our attendance at Parkhead
Improves with every game,
I just wish our football
Would improve the same.”

“I have a small plea,
In this letter I ask,
As Celtic’s being condemned
For flying Ireland’s flag,
We’re proud of the fathers
Who built this club,
Proud of our heritage
As Ireland’s sons.”

“Ireland’s flag,
We’ll never take down,
But protest galore
May be reaching the crown,
So the teams in Scotland
Have gathered as a unit,
And turned the flag issue
Into a game of politics.”

“I took a walk around Parkhead,
It was a sunny day,
And noticed our flag of old,
Is starting to fray,
To the establishment of football,
I would just love to brag,
Can Ireland, our brother,
Deliver Celtic a new flag? ”

The letter was stamped
And mailed to Dublin,
By special delivery
Not carrier pigeon,
And DeValera, in the penmanship
Of Yeats’ ghost,
Wrote, “No problem, son,
It’s in the post.”
