I can think of no one that my grandparents knew, that told me stories and that I experienced myself, had any sense of social inferiority growing up in segregated Washington. None whatsoever.

You see, I was told stories, we were all told stories as kids in Nigeria. We had to tell stories that would keep one another interested, and you weren't allowed to tell stories that everybody else knew. You had to dream up new ones.
Stories
when we were young stories were told
That I'd kiss you sweet like
People said there was a connection between us
Now that we're old stories are told
Of how I hold you tight
Whenever I see those people I tell them they were right
Stories will be told
From when our children are young
until they're old
About our endless love
We must have had a blessing from above
Stories will be told until we're old
Stories will be told until the end of time
Stories will be told until we're old
Stories will be told until the end of time
Until the sun won't rise
Oh

To be a human being means to possess a feeling of inferiority which constantly presses towards its own conquest. The greater the feeling of inferiority that has been experienced, the more powerful is the urge for conquest and the more violent the emotional agitation.

Thr Railroad Tracks
Who lived across the railroad tracks?
A few of us whites, but mostly blacks.
These railroad tracks without even knowing
separated my town and kept it growing
into a segregated place.
I used to listen for the sound of the train.
As it rolled on by, it would never remain.
It just kept rolling to where it was going.
The engineer waved. The smoke kept blowing
into a segregated place.
Even when the trains stopped the rolling
the tracks will still there. They were controlling
the thinking of the people in our town.
So they kept the tracks there, never tore them down
in our segregated place.
Some were on the right side of the tracks, you see.
Some were on the wrong side of the tracks, like me.
They never took the tracks down from 60 years ago.
And the town I grew up in doesn't want to know
it's a segregated place.

My grandparents told endless stories about the town they were from. It became an almost mythic place.

In Celebration Of A Holiday
Yes I am a veteran,
Of a life given that is well experienced.
And on Memorial Day,
I think of my parents, grandparents...
And lives of my ancestors also veterans,
Of living lives in the doing for others.
My mind on this day,
Is not only on those who sacrificed their lives...
Wearing a uniform to serve time in the military.
I think of those who have sacrificed their lives,
For beliefs kept many today take for granted...
Just to eat and drink in celebration of a holiday.
Only to be glad to spend time away,
From a regular routine.
Yes I am a veteran,
Of a life given that is well experienced.
And on Memorial Day,
I think of my parents, grandparents...
And lives of my ancestors also veterans,
Of living lives in the doing for others.
And the doing for others many who have passed on,
And done...
Should on this day be always remembered.
And as far as wars, destruction and the loss of life goes?
There is nothing about the act of it that is worthy of celebration.
However...
The showing of an appreciation is a more honorable expression,
Than the rushing to feed one's greed as a priority...
To prove a loyalty in the doing of it!

Keep On Growing
By eric clapton and bobby whitlock
I was laughing,
Playing in the streets, I was unknowing;
I didnt know my fate.
Playing
The game of love, but never really showing;
I thought that love could wait.
I was a young man and sure to go astray.
You walked right into my life and told me love would find a way
To keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing.
I was standing,
Looking in the face of one who loved me,
Feeling so ashamed.
Hoping,
And praying, lord, that she could understand me,
But I didnt know her name.
She took my hand in hers and told me I was wrong.
She said, youre gonna be all right boy, oh just as long
As you keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing. yeah, yeah, yeah.
Maybe,
Someday baby, who knows where or when, lord,
Just you wait and see.
Well be walking,
Together hand in hand, alone forever;
Woman just you and me.
cause time is gonna change us, lord, and I know its true;
Our love is gonna keep on glowing and growing and its all we gotta do.
Keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing. yeah, yeah, yeah.
Keep on growing, keep on growing, keep on growing.

The segregated schools of today are arguably no more equal than the segregated schools of the past.
Goodbye Dream
Phone call did come in,
I felt a shiver I knew was grim.
For it was my Uncle saying to my Dad,
Grandma & Grandpa died which was sad.
Later that night,
I went into a dream filled with fright.
I dreamed of my sister upstairs,
scary it made my arm hairs glare.
My hairs stood up straight,
which I did anticipate.
Something scary
was about to happen soon,
an image of people
floated into my sister's room.
Then sister screamed
and I did jump with a boom.
Running upstairs with blankets to my side,
I ran to my sister in the nic of time.
She told me what she had just seen,
The ghost of Grandparents
saying goodbye she did glean.
This was my grandparents saying there last goodbye,
dreamed of them years later telling them
'I know you guys never died.'

The Sunday School teacher talked too much in the way our grade school teacher used to when she told us about George Washington. Pleasant, pretty stories, but not true.

Still Here Next to Me
The days we spent together
Were the best day ever
But you're still here next to me
The stories you told me
Were the best stories I have ever heard
But you're still next to me
You were my best friend
I told you everything
But you're still here next to me
You are gone now
That I have to learn
But you're still here next to me
I want to say hi
I love you
Goodbye
But you're still here next to me
But you're still here next to me
So have a safe trip
Because I know you're gone now
But you're still here next to me

I Should Have Known Better
I should Have Known Better
You promised me forever
You promised me honesty
You promised me your love
I should have known better
You said I was the best
You said I was beautiful
You said I was your one and only
I should have known better
You told me you loved me
You told me I’d never be alone
You told me we’d always be together
I should have known better
I knew you broke all of your promises
I knew you never meant anything you said
I knew you have never once told me the truth
-but I wasn’t honest that I knew-
I should have known better

Washington and Lincoln
Come, happy people! Oh come let us tell
The story of Washinton and Lincoln!
History's pages can never excel
The story of Washington and Lincoln.
Down through the ages an anthem shall go,
Bearing the honors we gladly bestow--
Till every nation and language shall know
The story of Washington and Lincoln:
Who gave us independence,
On our continent and sea
Who saved the glorious Union!
And set a people free!
This is the story--
Oh happy are we--
The story of Washington and Lincoln.
Parents to children shall tell with delight,
The story of Washington and Lincoln;
Free born and freed men together recite
The story of Washinton and Lincoln.
Earth's weary bond men shall listen with cheer--
Tyrants shall tremble, and traitors shall fear--
When, in it's fullness of glory, they hear
The story of Washington and Lincoln:
Though on the war cloud recorded with steel,
The story of Washington and Lincoln;
Peace only Peace, can completely reveal
The story of Washington and Lincoln.
Thanks to the Lord for the days we behold!
Thanks for the unsullied flag we unfold!
Thanks to us, and in our time, was told
The story of Washington and Lincoln.

Inferiority
Inferiority
Experience which convince me
that I am not as good as the other
And consequently not to belong with them
if not best as they are
It seems a feeling of humiliation
especially if they make fan out of me
Such experience someone controls me
causes pain and delight in my misery
And these are common ‘jokes’
that leads me into my inferiority
However the fear was masked and heed inside
a withdrawal from my humanity
This feeling is not stranger in me
yet this is the cause of running away
Yet the far I am from me
the unprotected and vulnerable me-be
One way is to ‘project’
the feeling I thought of the other people
Another unhealthy way to handle
that I usually do to prejudice my inferiority
And it is clear humiliation
and nothing to do with humility
That is why the result from the acceptance
of my limitation is painful reality

Mere sex has no gratification.
Maybe Viagra, a drug of Sildenafil Citrate,
Is a boon for erectile insufficiency
And a man’s inferiority complex.
You can have it and in an hour, a jet upon bed.
Can it make one’s psychosexual insufficiency?
With it a sense of life is there;
Without it no sense of life
