Interview
(carly simon/don was)
A sweet young man sat on my chair
With a tape machine and a face of fear
He asked how does it feel to be who you are
I thought, this boy really thinks Im a star
I answered him with humility
And then asked him if hed like some tea
Interview, whos interviewing who
Are you interviewing me
Or am I interviewing you
He asked if the rug was some ancient, lovely thing
I lied and said yes a gift from a king?
I watched his arms and how his lips moved
He asked me if my parents approved
He asked to see my ruby ring
And if as a child I had liked to sing
Interview, whos interviewing who
Are you interviewing me
Or am I interviewing you
I said yes, oh yes 400 times
youre so open? he said do you always tell the truth? ?
never,? i said, whats that? ?
But how would it feel to hold me in your arms
You could get to know me down on the farm
Then you could see me as the child Ive become
cause being grown up can be so lonesome
Baby, how would it feel to hold me now
Baby, how would it feel to hold me now
Interview, whos interviewing who
Are you interviewing me
Or am I interviewing you

There is timing in the whole life of the warrior, in his thriving and declining, in his harmony and discord. Similarly, there is timing in the Way of the merchant, in the rise and fall of capital. All things entail rising and falling timing. You must be able to discern this.

Confidence
(words & music by tepper - bennett)
When everyone thought the world was flat
Columbus said its round
He went down in history
And america was found
cause
He had confidence
A little thing called confidence
Theres no job too immense when youve got
Confidence
With a c and an o and an n and an f
And an I and a d and an ence
Put em all together and what have you got
Confidence
Youll be surprised what you can do
If you will only try
Remember the tortoise and the hare
Who had that famous race
The speedy hare wound up nowhere
And slow poke took first place
cause
He had confidence
A little thing called confidence
Theres no job too immense when youve got
Confidence
Youll be surprised what you can do
If you will only try
How do you know that you cant ride a rainbow in the sky
Youll be surprised what you can do
If you will only try
All you need is confidence
A little thing called confidence
Theres no job too immense when youve got
Confidence
With a c and an o and an n and an f
And an I and a d and an ence
Put em all together and what have you got

Be it a potted pant
One may draw confidence
From the robe or crown he wears.
One may draw confidence
From the skin he possesses.
One may boast with confidence
From the connection he has.
Confidence grows to pride,
Pride, to conceit and conceit,
To vanity or atrocity.
Be confidence a potted plant.

Two Timer
She thinks shes high fashion
She thinks she looks divine
And thats what I keep tellin her

And she tells me she likes fast cars
She says she likes mine the best
And just because of that, baby
You think shed forget the rest, no, no, no
Just call me a three time loser
Thats all Ill ever be
cause my babys such a two timer

Tragedy Loves An Audience
The moment I met her I thought
'You know, she would play the 'tortured widow' really well'.
After all, if all the world is a stage,
then the cast should at least be adequate
and given my seeming 'need' for self destruction
it would be nice to have someone who is predisposed to melodrama around.
It's all about timing.
Timing and inevitability.

Confidence | Words of Wisdom
Don’t mistake power for confidence
You’ll never never like how it ends
Take your stance and understand
Confidence is the greatest tool
Confidence is power that’s my first rule
Now weapons aren’t that sharp even from the start
But confidence is evident etched with in your brain
Confidence is sharper than any razor blade
Individuality is a packaged deal
You’ve got to trust yourself and know yourself for real
Now trying to control ain’t gonna work
Power is a tool that’s broke
Too much effort, too much mess,
Leaving a trail of broken heart and broken glass
So there’s my proof I say it with confidence

When You Got In
I Went Out
Such Is The Wrong Timing
Of Your
Compassion
Then We Talk
About The Proper Timing
Of Our Desires
You Set The Time, The Place, And The Mood
Now It Is Not Just Desire But
Love
Yes, Love,
But Sometimes I Still Wonder
What Love Is
When Two People Meet At The Proper Time
The Proper Place, And The Proper Mood
When Everything Seems Right
And Yet
Feels So Wrong
When Everything Is Supposedly Proper
And Yet
There Is Still This
Feeling Of Impropriety
I Am 48 Years Old And You Are 49
And I Am Just Asking
When We All Want To Be Inside The Room Of
Ecstacy
And Yet
They All Want Us
Out
Just Because They Also Feel
That The Timing May Be Right
But It Simply Does Not
Look All Right
And Then You Are A Little
Bit Irritated And You Ask
Finally

Good-hearted Woman
(waylon jennings, willie nelson)
A long time forgotten
Dreams that just fell by the way.
The good life he promised,
It aint what shes living today.
Shes never complaining
Of the bad times and the bad things hes done.
Lord, she just talks about the good times theyve had
And the good times to come.
Shes a good-hearted woman
In love with a good-timing man.
She loves him in spite of his ways
That she dont understand.
Through teardrops and laughter
Theyll pass through this world hand in hand
A good-timing woman
In love with a good-hearted man.
He likes the bright lights and night life
And good-timing friends.
When the partys all over
Shell welcome him back home again.
Kinky!
Lord knows she dont understand him
She does the best that she can,
This good-hearted woman
Loving a good-timing man.
Kinky, aw!
Shes a good-hearted woman
In love with a good-timing man,
She loves me in spite of my wicked ways
She dont understand.
Through teardrops and laughter
Well pass through this world hand in hand,
A good-timing woman
In love with a good-hearted man.
Shes a good-timing woman
In love with a good-hearted man.
She loves me in spite of my donald duck ways
She dont understand.
(one more time!)
Through teardrops and laughter
Well pass through this world hand in hand
Kinky!
A good-timing woman
In love with a good-hearted man.
Ah-ooh!
A good-timing woman
In love with a good-hearted man.
Ah-ooh!

The unhappy legacies of authoritarianism can be removed only if the concept of absolute power as the basis of government is replaced by the concept of confidence as the mainspring of political authority: the confidence of the people in their right and ability to decide the destiny of their nation, mutual confidence between the people and their leaders and, most important of all, confidence in the principles of justice, liberty and human rights.
