The Cruise missiles do not frighten anyone. We are catching them like fish in a river. I mean here that over the past two days, we managed to shoot down 196 missiles before they hit their target.

We have been the cowards lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly.

Fish Deeper, says HE

Rainy days chill makes me lazy here in my cabin
Only croaks of frogs, I hear, singing with no rhythm,
Snails crawl on the ground; earthworms are visible in my garden
Used them as baits, to the river I went for some fishing.

Yet water running from slopes makes the river cold
No fish on surface, they swim deep and avoid,
I stayed hours while singing 'Raindrops Keeps Fallin' in my Head'
But nay, no fish eats my bait; can I just shoot them, instead?

Sam said true, 'Fish deep, fear not to plunge deep
Fulfillment is gained; why not face your fear,
Swim and play, water is enticing, dear
Water holds fun and lots from it to keep! '

I like to catch fish, though I cannot swim deep
Neither kill a fish, take off its intestines and gills,
Scaling it, cook and eat it in zest
I'd prefer catching fish and throw it back, I guess!

Hmn...I think I prefer it as a sport than feed
Yet I have naughty thoughts as I do the deed,
If my man was here, he may join me as we catch fish
Ha ha! Can we make love before we eat the main dish? (Wink)

The fact that we're catching more fish per person than we've ever done before doesn't mean that there are not particular places where we've managed fisheries badly.

My Unseen Friend 2

The unseen spirit ever walks by me
Neither in front of me nor at my back!
His concerns are genuine.

The unseen spirit often chuckles.
At times he sings chimes into my ears.
He leaves me not, a mischievous guy indeed!

There we see a blue river far
With banks vast and sandy
The unseen spirit and I walk towards it.
There I think of catching a fish
There are no fish in the river though.

There he becomes a fish for me!
Tell me - who are you?

A fish

He said 'there are plenty of fish in the sea.
All you have to do is go swimming to see.'

True, it would be easy to accomplish this.
But catching a fish... is not what I wish.
What fun would that be, to fish.
I need something better then that...A fish.

'Ha! , You fool that does not exist.'

My friend sometimes you should open your eyes.
Because catching everything that swims by, is not always the prize.
What if I told you to dig deep instead.

'Then I would say there is something wrong with your head.'

Perhaps you would be right, I'm sure it would be a tougher fight.
Digging hole after hole for something that is not in sight.
But what if I stumbled across a clam at the bottom of this sea.
So shiny...So bright it made all the other fish a terrible site.
And my friend whats even better then that.
Inside this clam is something to ewww and awww at.
A pearl inside of it so perfect you would be amazed.
That you would be able to do nothing but sit and gaze.
Would that be worth something to keep.

'I'm sure it would, but you have to dig so deep'

Well that's better then catching just a pretty fish, at least that's what I wish.

Our little hillock

When I was but a boy
not going to school yet,
my brother and I
climbed the rocks
of a green hillock

found our own little cavern
hidden behind some creeping green bushes
and the earth, blue sky,
the sun and rain
were our playmates

and with small catapults
we could let stones fly
like whizzing bullets
hitting anything that we found

and we were kings of that hill
sending baboons back on their way
and that farm was a boy’s dream,
and we were catching
yellow fish and carp from the stream

and at times we were just as wild
as our world
making lions leap yellow and wild
from our eyes
which roared thunder clapping in rage

when the neighbouring boys
ganged up on us
wanting to take our little hill
and stones would fly to and thro
missiles of clay whipped
from willow canes
and our little knoll would stay our own.

Why We Fight pt 2 (Reload!)

We got catapults—to erase your faults
Take our years of built fears and smash ‘em all on the walls
Shoot ‘em one! Shoot ‘em two! Poison knives in your shoe
Shoot ‘em three! Shoot ‘em free! Till there’s nothing to shoot
Reload!

Get the lead out and head out to meet with the man
Hiding down south with his head in the sand
Iron clan jousting to hear the crowd roar
Shoot ‘em three! Shoot ‘em four! Go for more!
Reload!

How much more destruction does anyone need?
More than too much, until your blood bleeds
Break in the hulls of the skulls with the hammer
Tear down the halls with the balls from the cannon
We got swords for warlords who don’t like machetes
’47 Kalashnikov standing guard at the ready

Steady with that axe Eugene whenever you roll but
Boredom can transform a bear to a donut
Tis the season for hunting, marathons for gun runners
100 cals from 100 barrels on the new Hummers
Break open the atom and you just cannot fathom
Mushrooms bigger than anything that John could imagine

Ancient proclamations just a few days in the making
Needs little motivation for this new world domination
Strike the steel curtain through heated deliberation
And burn down the stage with ice cold proliferation

We’ve got pigs in the water and they’re aching to be slaughtered
Kahn is stomping on and his tactics never falter
Trigger happy button mashing missiles fly across the sea
Submarine! Fire two! Fire three!
Reload!

Listen to the battle you can hear the nerves rattle
Get a taste for the ammo even if it’s just a dabble
Fire nukes! Fire two! And one more for the road!
Incoming! ! ! !
No more to reload

(music: marillion lyrics: steve hogarth)
Even if the good old days were good
Even if the old days were golden days
The past is a terrible place to live
Misguided missiles, skin creams and cars
Loaded with dreams, pretty faces Im loaded with stories
Im loaded with dreams
Loaded with ambition
Im loaded with live ammunitions
Saving up for linda, saving up for pam
Saving up for naomi, I can therefore I am
Savin up for mary, savin up for jane
1000 pieces all over the room
Lets do it again
Icon therefore I am
Loaded with dreams, loaded with life
I only wish you knew
How hard it is for me to spare
This kind of thing with you
And if you sense a smokesceen here
A trick of dry ice

Screw Faces

[Bob Marley]
Whoa, now!
Screwface know-a who fi frighten!
Screwface know-a who fi frighten!
Like I told, they say, "Coward, man".
Gonna keep some bones
And all violent man gonna weep and moan.
He that exalted him say, "Yeah!"
Shall be obeyed.
Remember Jah - Jah children deh!
Don't dread no pain.
Fear do we go now
To the rivers of ungodly waters, we'll fear no foe
(fear no foe, fear no foe).
Wherever I go,
Not even the pestilence
That crawl at I'n'I
Can't do - wo-wo-wo - me no wrong (just can't do me no wrong).
Oh, now!
I tell you what red is!
I tell you what I know:
(Screwface know-a who fi frighten!)
Screwface know-a who fi frighten!
Screwface know-a who fi frighten! Wo, now!
(Screwface know-a who fi frighten!) Screwface will frighten
screwface!
(Screwface know-a who fi frighten!) Long time gone, y'all!
(Screwface know-a who fi frighten!) Screwface will frighten
screwface!
Wo, yeah! Now!
(Screwface know-a who fi frighten!)

A Soldier

He is that fallen lance that lies as hurled,
That lies unlifted now, come dew, come rust,
But still lies pointed as it plowed the dust.
If we who sight along it round the world,
See nothing worthy to have been its mark,
It is because like men we look too near,
Forgetting that as fitted to the sphere,
Our missiles always make too short an arc.
They fall, they rip the grass, they intersect
The curve of earth, and striking, break their own;
They make us cringe for metal-point on stone.
But this we know, the obstacle that checked
And tripped the body, shot the spirit on
Further than target ever showed or shone.

Howlin' Mad Wind

The game's over.
The wind madly howled,
I cursed and growled,
And buried my sweaty head in a towel.

The wind had a distracting noise like a snare drum
Hit by fast hand. Its bitterness made me numb.
Manager said 'Wind killed us against the scum.'

We'd spit, and it would shoot like missiles mid-air,
Fly around everywhere.
Spit into the wind? You shouldn't dare.

We'd kick a ball straight, and it would curl and spin.
From when the match did begin,
We were beaten, by the howlin' mad wind.

Why?

Why do the babies starve
There's enough food to feed the world
Why when there're so many of us
Are there people still alone
Why are the missiles called peace keepers
When they're aimed to kill
Why is a woman still not safe
When she's in her home

Love is hate
War is peace
No is yes
And we're all free

But somebody's gonna have to answer
The time is coming soon
Admidst all these questions and contradictions
There're some who seek the truth

Tell me why do the babies starve
There's enough food to feed the world
Why when there're so many of us
Are there people still alone
Why are the missiles called peace keepers
When they're aimed to kill
Why is a woman still not safe
When she's in her home

Love is hate
War is peace
No is yes
And we're all free

But somebody's gonna have to answer
The time is coming soon
When the blind remove their blinders
And the speechless speak the truth

Tell me why do the babies starve
There's enough food to feed the world
Why when there're so many of us
Are there people still alone
Why are the missiles called peace keepers
When they're aimed to kill
Why is a woman still not safe

And we're all free
