Bill Cosby

Any man today who returns from work, sinks into a chair, and calls for his pipe is a man with an appetite for danger.

Danger

There is danger atop our heads;
There is danger around us all;
There is danger beneath our feet;
There is danger to man and beast!

There is danger in the skies;
There is danger in the seas;
There is danger ev’n on land;
There is danger to man and beast!

There is danger from earth’s bowels;
There is danger in forests;
There is danger in hills, vales;
There is danger to man and beast!

There is danger from our brethren;
There is danger from kith, kin;
There is danger from strangers;
There is danger to man and beast!

There is danger within us;
There is danger from space;
There is danger to our soul;
Nevertheless, God protects us.

The Big Green Chair

Look over there. See the big green chair. Its my favorite place, the chair over there.
I sit there quite often thinking of this and sometimes that. Sometimes when I sit there I wear a hat. Pink of course, nothing else would do. I even have pink shoe, the other one blue.
When I'm sleeply sometimes I crawl up in the big green chair. It smells of dad, his name is brad. But only mom call him brad, to me he's dad.
But my favorite thing about the big green chair is when dad calls my name,
Lainey, my dear, come and sit with me here in my chair, my big green chair.

Uh! All Night

Everywhere around the world
Everybodys doin time
Freedom comes at 5:15
Prison starts at quarter to nine
It takes a hard workin lover
To keep on towin the line
Ill meet you under the covers
I get excited, Im so excited
Well, we work all day
And we dont know why
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy
When your bodys been starved feed your appetite
When you work all day, you gotta uh! all night
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, whoo
Take me to the jungle, honey
Were livin in a human zoo
Getcha turnin tricks for money
Id rather roll around with you
cause when the waitin is over
I come a-runnin to you
I got the whole night to show you
I get excited, Im so excited
Well, we work all day
And we dont know why
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy
When your bodys been starved feed your appetite
When you work all day, you gotta uh! all night
Ooh, let me hear you, uh, right, uh, uh, uh, yeah
Well, we work all day
And we dont know why
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy
When your bodys been starved feed your appetite
When you work all day, you gotta uh!
They got me workin, they got me runnin
But when Im comin home to you, yeah
Well, we work all day
And we dont know why
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy
When your bodys been starved feed your appetite
When you work all day, you gotta uh! all night
Well, we work all day (they got me working)
And we dont know why (they got me runnin)
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy (ooh yeah)
When you bodys been starved (my bodys hungry)
Feed your appetite (dont need no money)
When you work all day, you gotta uh! all night (comin home, yeah)
Well, we work all day
And we dont know why
Well, theres just one thing that money cant buy
When you bodys been starved, feed your appetite
When you work all day, you gotta uh! all night
Well, we work all day

How the Revolution Started

The bearded amoeba
Quietly smoked his pipe.
The servant came in
And said:
The crocodile is ready
But the president cannot make today
The apple pie.

The bearded amoeba
Quietly smoked his pipe.
Yes, the dentist is in Venice
To make the root canal,
The servant said.
The crocodile was looking
At the sky.

Then suddenly
An angry cat
Began to puff and pant.

An orchestra was playing
In a distant café.

The bearded amoeba
Quietly smoked his pipe.
It is time to start the revolution
Mao said,
Rising from a chair.

A portrait of Lenin
Began to shine
On the wall.

Headlines (demo 1)

we call ourselves the crown of creation
i wonder what does it mean
we're not the owners of the moon and the earth
it's like a roundabout and it goes round and round for free
we've made some gruesome inventions
yet we're mastered by those systems
we're endangered danger, we're running out of fashion
if we don't care for responsibility, hey-hey
we're endangered danger, we're endangered danger,
we're the headlines today but all that we say is
we're endangered danger,
eric says that we're a lonely species
that's why we're playing the fools
but once we'll enter the aquarian age
i sometimes catch him floating in his swimming-pool, he says
if we'd tune in to our brighter sides
we'd feel like jesus on the waters
cause we're sailors not soldiers so much more for this show
than a guest-appearance in the universe, here we go
we're endangered danger, we're endangered danger,
we're the headlines today but all that we say is
we're endangered danger

Ultima Thule: The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveller hastens toward the town,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in the darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveller to the shore,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Cogitation

if this chair does not exist
will i, this, chair, me, who asks,
if this chair, exists at all,
can i, exist, too? will i be dependent
on the thought of a chair
a thought of me that i think i
can touch, that i think thoughts
touching this thought of a chair
does the chair think about me,
i ask, looking for that therefore
beside the chair that i thought
is a chair, that i thought is I,
am, therefore, a chair, thinking
chair, on four feet?

Divine

Excuse me my son
But do you believe
That you are without divine company
Come with me now
I'll show you the way, now join today
I have no appetite for your control
Please go away and just leave me alone
I'll search on my own
I don't need a guide for my soul
So when you feel lost
Or losing your hope
Reconsider this antidote
Hold on to me
I'll show you the way, now join today
I have no appetite for your control
Please go away and just leave me alone
I'll search on my own
I don't need a guide for my soul
Let me choose the path to take
Cause it's my own choice to make
And I'll challenge this to you
What if I told you
You were programmed to obey
And what if I told you
I didn't need you and your flock
Cause I'll find my own way
I have no appetite for your control
Please go away
And just leave me alone
I'll search on my own
I don't need a guide for my soul

I Wrote Nothing Today

I WROTE NOTHING TODAY

I wrote nothing today
I did not do my work
I played around
I read what I wanted
I searched the Internet for nonsense
I did not face the work and reality I have
I wrote nothing today
I did nothing today
I am to blame
The world will fall apart
The sky will never be blue again
The night will go on forever
No birds will sing and no rivers will flow
All the trees will lose their green-

I did nothing today
It's all over
I did nothing today and I am nothing and I will forever be nothing
And I am ashamed of being nothing and guilty for being nothing
And still I am nothing
And writing this does not make me something either
Because it is not the work I am supposed to do
Which I am still escaping
What a loser I am
What a failure-

After this tirade
Will I at last have the courage to begin the real work now?

Hum You Have to Get Up

You have to get up;
I don't want to get up.
Why don't you want to get up?
I'm very comfortable where I am, thank you.

You have to go to work;
I don't want to go to work.
Why don't you want to go to work?
Because there's too much work at work, that's why.

You have to go to work to pay the bills;
I don't want to go to work to pay the bills.
Why don't you want to go to work to pay the bills?
If I pay bills this month I shan't have any money to pay next month's bills.

You have to get up;
I know, I'm getting up.
Where are you going?
I'm going to see an astrologer.

You're back, what did the astrologer say?
He said:
Today don't get up;
Today don't go to work;
Today don't pay the bills;
Have a nice day,
Today is Sunday!

When The Poem Returns Life Returns

WHEN THE POEM RETURNS LIFE RETURNS

When the poem returns life returns
There is enthusiasm and exuberance again
There is something to live for
And dreams are dreams
And hopes give hope-

When the poem returns life returns
And I begin again here
As if there is some sense after all
In writing and living again.

Today belongs....

Today belongs to us
Take it granted and trust
Some belief is must
Act fast and be first

Miss today and you are gone
Complete work is washed away and undone
River knows she no time left
But promises are to be kept

Sea may be waiting
Waves may be willing and stating
His immediate concern and first priority
Welcome river with grace and superiority

You may start the work with zeal
That tempo may not be real
You may leave it in between
Loss may occur instead of win

Let us ride over storm
Even if they strongly warn
Nothing is impossible
You can sail out of trouble

I, for one, prefer calm weather with no danger
Yet don't fall back if forced to act as good manager
Tomorrow may prove to be disastrous
But thrust for today must remain continuous

A Chair Is No Longer Just A Chair

it is your experience that
gives you more meaning to all those which
you think
have been too common and
insignificant,

perhaps
now you must have realized as you sit upon a chair
that someone used to sit there

and that someone waited for another to be with her
that on the same chair
there were some fears
and pains and even longings
and hopes
unrealized and by then

you see that chair not just a chair
you sit there
and you ask it
for this chair though muted by wood
will always have
a story to tell....

Maybe Your Time Is Missing

If you say you're in it and it doesn't seem to work...
Maybe your time is missing.
If you say it's on your agenda first...
Maybe you need to less rehearse.

Something aint feeding an appetite.
Somebody here tells a lie.
Something aint feeding an appetite.
I smell a lie that's denied.

If you say you're in it and it doesn't seem to work...
Maybe your time is missing.
If you say it's on your agenda first...
Maybe you need to less rehearse.

Why can't you be honest and tell the truth?
I smell a lie that's denied.
You must take me as someone who's a fool?
I smell a lie that's denied.

Something aint feeding an appetite.
Somebody here tells a lie.
Something aint feeding an appetite.
I smell a lie that's denied.

If you say you're in it and it doesn't seem to work...
Maybe your time is missing.
If you say it's on your agenda first...

Something aint feeding an appetite.
I smell a lie that's denied.

Live your day...

Today, forget your past;
Today, don't worry about tomorrow.
Today, the life is vast;
Today, forget the joy and sorrow.
Today, don't belong to any caste;
Today, fill in your prevailing hollow.
Today, live in minute;
Today, work in the moment.
Today, the hero stands high;
Today, there's no time for a sigh.
Today, persevere in today;
Today, is the moment.

Office Work

Work, work, work..

sitting effort,
on a chair
empty screen,
emotive stare

Work, work, work...

slunched shoulders,
side by side
warming ocean,
stolen pride,

Work, work, work...

hey man,
you man,
ant-field flys
pergatory,
promotion,
pitch-fork eyes.

Work, work, work...

college loving,
take me back,
drunk lace orgy,
primrose sack

Work, work, work...

day dream,
day stare,
simple soul.
Drop your complexity
and know,
your,
role.

Just for today...

Just for today I will start my day the right way
Just for today I will pray on my knees
Just for today I will be thankful for all my treasures
Just for today I will lean more into HIS understanding

Just for today I will be confidant and share my heart
Just for today I will not be afraid
Just for today I will Love myself unconditionally
just for today I will extend grace to all I know

Just for today I will be BOLD and Courageous
Just for today I will share my hopes and dreams
Just for today I will listen to others as well...
and just for today I will help others succeed.

Just for today I will accept myself for who I am
Just for today I will work on my gifts...and
Just for today I will extend a hand to a fellow man
Just for today I will know God put me on this earth to Give
