First, I'm trying to edit down about 7 hours of material which I made prior to the Cop days and find some way to get it out. This stuff is pretty out there, mostly sonic collages and tape manipulations.

Now that I can edit the whole thing on AVID and edit the whole thing on tape, maybe I will do the next digitally, because maybe the quality will become less obvious between tape and film.

Sonic Reducer

I don't need anyone, don't need no mom and dad
Don't need no good advice, don't need no human rights
I got some news for you, don't even need you too
I got my time machine, got my 'lectronic dream
Sonic reducer, ain't no loser
Got a sonic reducer, sonic reducer
People out on the streets, they don't know who i am
I watch them from my room, they are just passing by
I'm not just anyone
I got my time machine, got my little 'lectronic dream
Sonic reducer, ain't no loser
Sonic reducer, sonic reducer
I'll be your bearer soon, love on some cotton doom
Things will be different then, the sun will rise from here
Then i'll be ten feet tall, then you'll be nothing at all
I got my time machine, got my little 'lectronic dream
Sonic reducer, ain't no loser
Sonic reducer, sonic reducer
Sonic reducer, sonic reducer
Sonic reducer, sonic reducer , sonic reducer

Not Quite Sonic

Not yet sonic
But I'd like to reach the point
Where I can say
Yes I am
But it always seems to be
About sensibilities
And not who's listening
No I'm not quite sonic
What's real in the art school
What's real in the white room
This yet to tell my conscience
Who to trust my thoughts with
Or who to love
You're oh so sonic
So and so fantastically boring
You're a fashion whore
Being real is one thing
Being nothing is something
But at this point
There's something wrong
Chemically expensive hair
Money that we wear
Will get us what?
It kinda makes you think
Only animals
Are friends... surreal friends
Truly sonic
The sights
They're embryonic
See what you want
I'm not quite sonic
The sounds
They're quadraphonic
Semi-moronic
Not quite sonic

You have to edit the material. That assumes that some kind of a mind is operating in relation to the material. Not all minds are the same. Every aspect of filmmaking requires choice. The selection of the subject, the shooting, editing and length are all aspects of choice.

Ever have one of 'those' days

Did you ever have one of “those” days
A day at least twenty seven hours long

A day in which nothing much went right
Yet also, a day when… nothing went wrong

One of those days that does absolutely nothing’
One of those days that could have phoned itself in

One of those days you could’ve fit so much stuff in
But you didn’t…and ain’t that a sin.

A day… that had it gone any slower,
Would have started goin’ in reverse

until’ it turned into yesterday and..
What could possibly be worse?

Tomorrow would become today then
Well that’s what could go wrong!

And I’d have another one of “those” days
A day at least thirty hours long

You Can Not Tell This By My Appearance

'Are you mad? '

Of course!

'Good!
I was so afraid,
I'd be the only one.
Here.
Use this.'

What am I going to need the tape for?

'Your smile.
Smile...
Then tape it!
We will never escape...
If anyone should detect,
You are not happy...
And not going along with the BS.

You will be reported to the authorities.

Use the tape quickly.
There's not too much time,
To find others.

We must find them.
Then we must go underground...
To share our happiness and reality.'

Seriously...
I am quite mad.
Pissed to high heaven.

'That's fine.
You can not tell this by my appearance...
But I am outraged! '

Choice For Today

same stuff
different days
same evasive stuff really
moving hours
tiring days most of the times
but one makes the decision
to color days with summer
sun and cold winds
and beach
relaxations
same stuff but always
with different outlooks
renovating innovations
respecting life
enjoying bodies
tanning and resting eyes
upon bluer horizons
farther farther
imaginations dreaming
unthinking
things

under the tree
hands restive upon
the green blanket on
the white sands
on a Sunday
morning

When you do a show five days a week and one night a week, the way I was doing, you use up so much music every day that pretty soon you find yourself hustling for material.

The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of

(carly simon)
Take a look around now
Change the direction
Adjust the tuning
Try a new translation
Dont look at your man in the same old way
Take a new picture
Just because you dont see shooting stars
Doesnt mean it isnt perfect
Cant you see...
Its the stuff that dreams are made of
Its the slow and steady fire
Its the stuff that dreams are made of
Its your heart and souls desire
Its the stuff that dreams are made of
So whats this about your best friend?
Shes got a brand new shiny boy
And theyre moving out to malibu
To play with all his pretty toys
And you feel closed in by the same four walls
The same old conversation
With the same old guy youve know for years
But use your imagination
And you will see....
Its the stuff that dreams are made of
Its the slow and steady fire
Its the stuff that dreams are made of
Its your heart and souls desire
Its the stuff that dreams are made of
What if the prince on the horse in your fairytale
Is right here in disguise
And what if the stars youve been reaching so high for
Are shining in his eyes
Dont look at yourself in the same old way
Take another picture
Shoot the stars off in your own backyard
Dont look any further
And you will see
Its the stuff that dreams are made of....

Two Days Old

I am but two days old and i have no name,
Pretty young thing but i am nobody to you;
But i do know that i love you.

Sleep my little one when you are with a wise man,
Sing my sweet one when you want to know who i am;
For i am but two days old and i have no name,
But i am waiting for an intellectual exercise to touch my heart.

You better find out to learn more about me,
Because i am two days old and i only learnt from the womb;
But what can you say to a naked body? !
Since you've now made a bomb which can easily send me to the tomb.

I am but two days old and i have no name,
But you are snapping on my menu books!
And this pretty young thing is about to teach you.

Drivin Around

(eric carmen/david smalley)
Long hot days
Well be catchin the rays
(oh baby) long hot days
Well be catchin the rays
You know my tape deck is blastin
My cars fast
When school lets out
And the summers here
Well have some time for the sun
Throw my notebooks out
And put my car in gear
cause well be havin some fun
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
You know my tape deck is blastin
My cars fast,
With my girl by my side
We can go for a ride
To find a place we can dance
And when it gets real dark
We can stop in the park
And have a backseat romance
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
You know my tape deck is blastin
My cars fast,
Im drivin around, yeah
Ill be waitin all through the year
Just to get you alone with nobody near
Baby dont be late
cause I just cant wait
All I wanna do is make love to you
With my girl by my side
We can go for a ride
To find a place we can dance
And when it gets real dark
We can stop in the park
And have a backseat romance, yeah
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
You know my tape deck is blastin
My cars fast,
Im drivin around, oh yeah
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
You know my tape deck is blastin
My cars fast,
Im drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
Drivin around
(long hot days well be catchin the rays)
Mama, well be drivin around, and around and around
Well be drivin around

Bangkok

Gotcha!
Hey sucker let me outa here!
Hey, man!
Bangkok on a sunny day
The rain has washed the blood away
Thousand of veins left in the streets
But I cant wash away the red points
On the sheets of the hotels
And the cheap rooms
Of the cheap whores
Under palm trees
Under palm trees
My brain is running in circles now
I gotta cure the pain somehow
Theres a coloured cloud in front of sun
And a face is trying to cheat me
And to take away the fun
And the killer troups of the dea
Have just brought my friend away
In the stuff that dreams are made of
In the stuff that dreams are made of
Stuff that dreams are made of
Hey, hey, hey!
Stuff that dreams are made of
Stuff that dreams are made of
Hey, hey, hey!
Stuff
Stuff that dreams
Are made of...

A Philosophy In Life

when you read that poem about deleting Maureen
i regret to have given you the wrong spelling for delet...

i know it lacks an e.
but i do not wish to delet it anymore or even edit it.

i have this philosophy in life you know
do not go back
leave all your tracks as they were once made

do not edit life
let them see how mistakes were made and how they need not be corrected

simply because you know that
people are patient and they understand the common ground of our humanity

errors, not eros.

They're pretty particular about what they show. They certainly edit the scripts and have conversations with the writers about what they are and aren't willing to portray. But the writers and the network are pretty much on the same page.

I grew up doing all that stuff because I was obsessed with the '50s. I had sock hops for birthday parties. So I've always done The Twist and stuff. It was pretty natural and, with my parents doing it all the time, I'd just copy them. Not very pretty.

Days in Red

Days days days in red
In days days days ahead
The sun is in autumn light
And moon of glowing dark
Sky deep and high
Days days days in red

Flowing on hours in night
Where love lost its flight
Once those were alright
Now they no more spark

Days days days in red
In days days days ahead
The sun is in autumn light
Is there a horizon of ignite
Where hours go on by
Days days days in red

Flowing memories at sight
No feeling seems now right
But love's still inside
Come come babe now close abide
