If Rosa Parks had not refused to move to the back of the bus, you and I might never have heard of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Good Old Days
I remember the good old days.
The days when a black man such as myself could not even look at a white woman. Remember what happen to Emmett Till because he did.
Yeah the good old days
When a hard working woman named Rosa Parks got arrested
Just because she refused to get up and give a white man her seat.
The good old days
was when a group of men could burn down a of place worship
And kill four little black girls.
The good old days
When a man like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
got killed only because he had a dream.
I often hear people saying I miss the good old days.
But from my perspective those good old days
was not that good after all! !
On Their Feet
My feet walk on soil where my ancestors blood, sweat and tears where shed.
Blood from the lashes on their backs that was put there by a cold wet whip all because they fought to be free.
Sweat that dripped from their brows from the hard work they did to help build this country we call America.
Tears that was cried so many nights they could fill a river with their sorrow.
But even after all that they did not crawl upon their knees or slide upon their bellies.
Their faith gave them hope for a brighter future for all those who would come after them. People such as Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and even me, and because of this faith no matter what they always stood upon their feet.

Impacted Our Lives- Rosa Lee Parks
Why was it that so many people had to hate because of different race? Well it is something that might have been seen in the past but still is true,
Not only is it is wrong, but it is a disgrace,
So many of them were left with scars and bruises that were black and blue.
A lot of this started with this poor old lady did on want to give up her seat on the bus.
All she said, "Please let me sit here because I had a hard and tiring work day" Yes, it was not right for so many to look at her and make such of a fuss.
Well this lead a man named Martin Luther King Jr. to lead a Bus Boycott her way This poor and tired woman's name was Rosa Lee Parks And she is now known for help making racial equality strides
That today we are just now seeing how this light in her is bring our nation out of the dark
And today it still shows how she impacted our lives

I Am (Defiant)
i am, become...
i am the seat on the bus
Rosa Parks would not leave..
i am the fires of anger
when Martin Luther King was killed.
i am the grassy knoll,
where the true killer stood.
i am the Little Bighorn,
and Crazy Horse weeping...
i am the men that built the bombs,
and all the faceless souls screaming
through their long sleepless nights...
i am the brothers that killed each other
in the long Civil War...
i am the slaves set free,
i am the Native Americans sent
to live in poverty on reservations
in the name of a white god...
i am the farm worker exploited,
the coal miner who died...
i am the rats and the filth
of tenements and trailers...
i am the blues hand picked,
moonshine made in the hills...
i am the grandfather who built
his house with his own hands.
i am the rage of the common,
i am America defiant,
i am, become....

Martin Luther King Junior
Today is Martin Luther King Junior's birthday; a day that we celebrate.
Without his influence, Barack Obama probably wouldn't be the President of the United States.
He wanted black people to have equal rights.
He didn't cower in the face of this fight.
He knew that some people are consumed by hate.
Sadly one of those people took his life in 1968.
Martin Luther King Junior died for what he believed in.
People shouldn't be prejudice because of the color of skin.

A Brown Lady Asserting Her Right To Take A Seat
and so this brown lady
inside a cafe
asserted her right
to sit where she wants
to
invoking her
constitutional right
a la rosa
sub rosa
parks
a white woman
enters
and tells her
to move a little
bit farther
and the brown woman
says
you don't tell me to move
because you don't own this place
i have the right to be here
i am no less than the trees and the stars
the white woman is 65
the brown woman is 35
and i see,
as you feel the sting,
there is a bite somewhere inside your heart
and now you tell me the story
of this guilt.

Santa Rosa
Id give anything to be back home in santa rosa
How I wish this road would take me home where I belong
cause I have found no other place where I will stay
Im tired and all my dreams have failed along the way
Id give anything to be back home in santa rosa
Though I wonder what my folks would think about me now
I guess Ive changed, like people do, when things go wrong
But in the end, somehow I know, well get along
Chorus
Santa rosa Ill be back to stay
Im on my way
Santa rosa Ill be back to stay
Id give anything to be back home in santa rosa
How I wish to see the old house where I used to live
And all my friends, will they be there, when I come home
How I regret the day when I set out to roam
Repeat chorus
Id give anything to be back home in santa rosa (3)

Martin Luther King took us to the mountain top: I want to take us to the bank.
Oh My Golly!
Dentro las piones y las olas riquenas
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
Caminamos bajo la luna caribe
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
Besando, chichando con surfer rosa
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
Huesped de su manera
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
Rosa, oh oh ooh rosa!
Rosa, oh oh ooh rosa!
Yo soy playero pero no hay playa
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
Bien perdido por la surfer rosa
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
La vida total es un porqueria, porqueria
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
Hecho de menos mas que vida
Oh my golly! oh my golly!
Rosa, oh oh ooh rosa! huh huh
Rosa, oh oh ooh rosa! huh huh
Translation
Between pine seeds and puertorican waves
Walkin under the carribean moon
Kissing and chewing with surfer rosa
Guest of her ways
Rosa, oh oh ooh rosa
Im a beachgoer but there is no beach
Totally crazy for my surfer rosa
All of life is a pigstay, pigstay
I long (for her) more than my for life

Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent.
