When he realized who he'd pulled over, the policeman shook his head in disbelief. He told me of all people I should know better. He gave me a real dressing down, but let me go.

The Ruler and the Ruled {4}
A fresh graduate after his service
For job he roamed the province
There were vacancies in the ministry
He applied for one immediately
The director looked at him and inquired
'Your certificate is exactly what is required
But are you a relative to the president? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are you an in law to the vice? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are you a family friend to a senator? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are a cousin to the speaker? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are you a neighbour to a minister? '
He shook his head and said no
'Sorry, young man you cannot get a job in this tower
You did not pass the nomination of any big man in power
Although your certificate speaks good of your prowess
Try your luck somewhere else'

Santas Beard
I wanna meet santa claus, the real real santa
I wanna meet santa claus, the real real santa
I wanna see santa claus, the real real santa
He wants to meet ol santa claus
I took my brother to the department store
He wanted to show santa his christmas list
He stood in line and he shook like a leaf
Hes only five and a half goin on six
He said, is that (that santa) really santa claus,
Really really (the real santa) santa claus?
Is that (that santa) really santa claus, really really santa?
(I hope he doesnt pull santas beard)
Is that (that santa) really santa claus,
Really really (the real santa) santa?
Hope he thinks thats santa claus
I picked him up and put him on santas lap
And then he pulled the pillow out of his shirt
He yanked the beard right on off of his chin
And in his eyes I could see he was hurt
He said, youre not (not santa) really santa claus,
Youre really not (the real santa) santa claus
Youre not (not santa) really santa claus,
Youre really not santa (he shouldnta pulled santas beard)
Youre not (not santa) santa claus,
Youre really not (the real santa) santa
Hes just helpin santa claus
Hes just helpin (helpin santa) santa claus,
The real (the real santa) real santa
Hes helpin (helpin santa) santa claus,
The real (the real santa) real santa
Hes just helpin (helpin santa) santa claus,

Pulled Up
Mommy, daddy, come and look at me now
Im a big man in a great big town
Years ago who would believe its true
Goes to show what a little faith can do
I was complaining, I was down in the dumps
I feel so strong now cause you pulled me up!
Pull me up up up up up up up up
I slipped, and I got pulled
Pulled up, I tripped, and then you pulled,
You pulled me up
I slipped, and I got pulled,
Pulled up, I slipped, and then you pulled,
You pulled me up pull me up pull me up...
Pulled me up up up up up up up up
I drift away to another land
Sleeping dreaming such a simple thing
I think of things that I might be
I see my name go down in history
I was complaining, I was down in the dumps
I feel so string now cause you pulled me up!
Pull me up up up up up up up up
I slipped, and I got pulled,
Pulled up, I tripped, and then you pulled,
You pulled me up
I tripped, and I got pulled
Pulled up, I slipped, and then you pulled
You pulled me up! pulled me up up, pulled me up...
Pulled me up up up up up up up up
I got up
cause you pulled me up
I stood up
cause you pulled me up
I got up
And that was because you pulled me up
I got up
In a little while you pulled me up
Pull me up up up up, up up up up!
Pull me up up up up up up up up!
I cast a shadow on the living-room wall
Dark and savage with a profile so sharp
Keep that wonderful food on the table
Theres really no hurry Ill eat in a while
I was complaining, I was down in the dumps
I feel so strong now cause you pulled me up!
Pull me up up up up up up up up!
I slipped, and I got pulled
Pulled up, I tripped, and then you pulled,
You pulled me up
I slipped, and I got pulled
Pulled up, I slipped,
And then you pulled, you pulled me up!
Pull me up...pull me up...watch out!
Pull me up up up up up up up up!
Pull me up up up up up up up up!
Pull me up up up up up up up up!

The men from the pans
In Brakpan at a time
lived a breaker
build very well
like a young Tarzan,
that kicked in shop windows
and caused amuck
to get a fight
with the police
and then hit
six or seven of them
into the hospital.
Till one day
that a small young policeman
gave him
a knock out punch
and his giant legs
folded in beneath him
and unconscious
he dropped to the ground
to open his eyes
in a cell.
When he got up
he hooked both of his thumbs
in his braces,
shook his head
and couldn’t understand
that such a small guy
could hit him off his feet
and though deep
about what to do
and decided then and there
to stop his wiles

Faster
Chose a life in circuses
Jumped into the deepest end
Pushing himself to all extremes
Made it - people became his friend.
Now they stood and noticed him
Wanted to be part of it
Pulled out some poor machinery
So he worked til the pieces fit.
The people were intrigued
His wife held back her fears
The headlines gave acclaim
Hed realized their dreams.
Faster than a bullet from a gun
He is faster than everyone
Quicker than the blinking of an eye
Like a flash you could miss him going by
No one knows quite how he does it but its true they say
Hes the master of going faster.
Now he moved into the space
That the special people share
Right on the edge of do or die
Where there is nothing left to spare.
Still the crowds came pouring in
Some had hoped to see him fail
Filling their hearts with jealousies
Crazy people with love so frail.
The people were intrigued
His wife held back her fears
The headlines gave acclaim
Hed realized their dreams.
Faster than a bullet from a gun
He is faster than everyone
Quicker than the blinking of an eye
Like a flash you could miss him going by
No one knows quite how he does it but its true they say
Hes the master of going faster.
No need to wonder why
His wife held back her fears
So few have even tried
To realize their dreams.
Faster than a bullet . . . (repeat chorus)

Dressing Up
Going under slowly
It never seems too late
Going under so slow
Dressing up to kiss
Dressing up to touch all this
I'm dressing up to dance all week
I'm dressing up to sleep
Dressing up to kiss
Dressing up to be all this
I could eat your face
I could eat all of you
Oh this night will never let me go...
Going under slowly
Never seems too late
Going under slow
You'll pick me up again

Into The Void
Im losing power and I dont know why
Not really sure if Ill live or die
I wanna leave but I cant get away
Its a strange sensation
Out of control being by myself
I feel this gravitation
Caught like a magnet and Im being pulled
Into the void
I wanna get away, get away
Into the void
Im being pulled, Im being pulled down
Into the void
This place is spinning, spinning around
Into the void
Fell like Im being pulled into a black hole
This crazy feelings screwing with my head
Im overloading and my gauges are red
State of confusions got ahold on me
I feel a hesitation
Im being (? )drug, pulled out of the track(? )
Dont like the situation
Caught like a magnet and Im being pulled
Into the void
I wanna get away, get away
Into the void
My head is spinning, spinning around round
Into the void
This force is getting, gettin stronger
Into the void
Fell like Im being pulled into a black hole
Into the void
Im being pulled, being pulled down down down
[solo]
Into the void
Dont like this feeling, Im being pulled down
Into the void
I wanna get away, get away
Into the void
Feel like its spinning, spinning around
Into the void
Im being pulled, being pulled down down down
Into the void
Get away, get away
Into the void
Fell like Im being pulled into a black hole
Into the void

A Puppet On A String
A puppet on a string is all that you are,
And all that you ever will be
Your told what to hear and what to say
And you're even told what you can believe.
You are not free as you were once before
As you gave that and your dignity away
Now you are told where to go and what to wear
And you were even told to change your name.
Your watched and not trusted wherever you go
And you must ask permission to leave
And that is the life that you chose for yourself
Now for you there is only shame and pity.
You're a puppet on the string as that is you
Your puppeteer tells you how to act
He tells you what to cook and when to sleep
And when to bed him and how to react,
But what can you do, as you have nowhere to go
Everyone knows of your lying and your ways
Your own daughters are confused because of you
Now they will be like you in their own adult days.
You changed your hair and you changed your name
Because your master commanded you to
To make him happy is what you want to do best
But sadly this situation for you isn't new.
You're a puppet on the string that's all that I hear
Wherever you might go or what you might say
You walk in the footsteps your master placed for you
And you will walk them until your dying days.
Your strings are pulled and then you will walk
Your strings are pulled and then you will obey
Your strings are pulled and then you will answer
And that's how you will be from day unto day.
No truth or loyally does your master have for you
Not even a vow to GOD or a wedding ring
But you never expect or accepted them anyway
As all that you are, is but a puppet on a string.

You Shook Me All Night Long (feat. Cline Dion)
[Celine Dion]
He was a fast machine
He kept his motor clean
He was the best damn man I had ever seen
He had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs
[Anastacia]
Taking more than he share
Had me fightin' for air
He told me to come but I was already there
'Cause the walls were shakin'
The earth was quakin'
My mind was achin'
And we were makin' it and you...
[Both]
Shook me all night long
C'mon girlfriend
Oh yeah
Shook me
Said you...shook me all night long
Oooh shook me
[Anastacia]
Workin' double time
On the seduction line
He was one of a kind, he's just mine all mine
Wanted no applause
Just another course
He made a meal out of me and came back for more
[Celine Dion]
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing
Now the walls were shakin'
The earth was quakin'
My mind was achin'
And we were makin' it and you...
[Both]
[C'mon]
Shook me all night long
C'mon girlfriend, shook me
Ooooooooh...you
Shook me all night long
Everybody sing with me
You shook me all night long
Oooh...
Shook me, shook me...baby
You shook me all night long
Shook me...
C'mon
I said, you shook ma all night long
Oooooooh...oooooh...you
Shook me all night long
You, you, you...
Shook me all night long
You...
Shook me baby...you
Shook me all night long
Yeah, you shook me, you shook me
Oooooh, you shook me, you shook me, you shook me, you shook me
All night...yeaaah

Loseing Me
i used to feel and be so happy on the outside
but on the inside the real me was trapped
when i look back now i think of how stupid i was
i am so much more alive now on the outside
but inside i am so dead
i wish people would forget who i used to be
shes dead and gone
the old me will see day
or feel the night never again
burried benith the ground so deep
sufficated and hated by who i am now
no matter what i do her memory lives on
in the eyes and hearts of people who surround me
even though shes dead and gone there is no escape
as i watched her die day by day
i realized how much i hated her
hated everything people turned me into
she realized she wasnt me
when she died i came out from deep inside
she was nothing but my shell
my cover and an empty reflection
the real me comes through as i shed my
old pathetic skin and here i am the real me breathing
as my black filled soul is bleeding
the old me is gone lost and forgoten and never to return

Policeman
Everyday he wakes up
As his bare feet hit the floor
Grabs a cup of coffee
Straps his magnum on once more
Feeds the cat he lives with
Since his wife walked out the door
In nine years hell retire with a pension
Everyday he suffers
cause he sees all kinds of pain
Sometimes feels helpless
In a world thats gone insane
Then he wins a battle
It restores his faith again
Its only human kindness he is after
He is a policeman, you know
All the years and nothing to show
He is a policeman, you know
Every night he comes home
With a sixpack all alone
Feeds the cat he lives with
He picks up the telephone
Needs to talk with someone
But the only love hes known
Was lost forever, he is a policeman
He is a policeman, you know
All the years and nothing to show
He is a policeman, you know
All the years and nothing to show

I Hate Everything
He was sitting there beside me
Throwin' doubles down when he ordered up his third
He looked around, then he looked at me
And said I do believe I oughta have one more.
I hate this bar and I hate to drink,
But on second thought, tonight I think I hate everything.
Then he opened up his billfold and threw a 20 down
And a faded photograph fell out and hit the ground
And I picked it up he said Thank ya bud.
I put it in his hand, He said I probably oughta throw
This one away, 'cause she's the reason I feel this way,
I hate everything.
I hate my job, and I hate my life.
If it werent for my two kids, I'd hate my ex-wife.
I know I should move on and try to start again,
But I just can't get over her leaving me for him.
Then he shook his head and looked down at his ring,
And said I hate everything.
He said, That one bedroom apartment where I get my mail,
Is really not a home, it's more like a jail,
With a swimming pool and a parking lot view. Man, it's just great!
I hate summer, winter, fall, and spring,
Red and yellow, purple, blue and green.
I hate everything.
I hate my job, and I hate my life.
If it werent for my two kids, I'd hate my ex-wife.
I know I should move on and try to start again,
But I just can't get over her leaving me for him.
Then he shook his head and looked down at his ring,
And said I hate everything.
So I pulled out my phone and I called my house
I said Babe, I'm coming home we're gonna work this out.
I paid for his drinks and I told him Thanks!
Thanks for everything...

Thief
I shook my head and I grind my teeth
As I stood in horror and also disbelief
My property was stolen, my eyes were swollen
As in my house came and gone was a thief.
They took and stole what was not theirs to own
To their actions and deeds they must condone
They gave no reason, for their sin and treason
But one day soon to these crimes they will atone.
My house to them become their private store
They came through the window and left through the door
They went through my house, as quite as a mouse
But when they left my home it was in an uproar.
I wondered to myself why did they steal from me
What I owned and had was my own property
Questions to my mind, kept my soul in a bind
Why this and why that I kept thinking constantly.
I took deep breaths to bring upon myself relief
Then the solitude came but it was only brief
I clinched a fist, and then my wall I did hit
Then I shouted there is nothing worse than a thief.

Under My Feet
Its a hard life
Never let yourself get down
You may never get back
You may never ever turn it round
You may say it took you by surprise
Never ending
Never changing
I didnt see through your disguise
It took my breath away
Under my feet
The earth shook
Under my feet
The earth just fell away
Under my feet
Gave way
Did you ever want to take a chance
Never thought the time would come round
Quite so fast
Would you walk right thro that wall
And keep on walking till you
Couldnt stand on your feet no more
But you came and took me by surprise
When you stole up on me
I didnt see thro your disguise
It took my breath away
Under my feet
The earth shook
Under my feet
The earth just fell away
Under my feet - gave way
Where were you
When I needed you
Where were you
When I needed you
Where were you
Where were you - Im holding on
Under my feet
The earth shook
Under my feet
The earth just fell away
Under my feet - gave way
Under my feet
The earth shook
Right under my feet
Gave way

I Realized
He sat on the step asking for change
'I haven't got any spare'
pretend I don't care
wonder how he got there
ask him? Do I dare?
He tells me hes slow
at an all time low
kicked out of hostels
three times in a row
I tell him I've gotta go
my taxis waiting...
In the back seat
I speak to the girl I'm dating
'whats with the tramp? '
I tell her 'I'm loving, not hating'.
My flirting's not working
the taxi driver laughs
sees a couple, taking separate paths
life's like algebra, not making sense
always hated maths, always clothed
I asked if she takes naked baths
we were over before it started
called the taxi driver Moses
as he drove us to the red sea
we parted, we red it
told him I gave her a try
put my finger up to her
as I waved her goodbye
I realized...
I'm like the Manchester weather
I'm cold...
he continued the journey and drove
he drove me to Wimslow road
curry mile...
I staggered out in my usual drunken style
looked at Kansas then gave the sky a smile
never realized I was so drunk
she must have hated me
I must have stunk,
why did I say that?
this chickens gonna make me fat
I'm so dizzy, 'Yo! '
'Wo! You gave me a fright'
'got any change? '
'I might'
I gave him a pound
I realized he was the tramp from before
he walked into the night.

Billy's Policeman
I knew a policeman once
And this is true as it ever could be
Who made me feel an awful dunce;
'Cos I lost my dad, and it frightened me.
He came and took me by the hand
'Well, now,' said he; 'young fella-me-lad,
No need to cry, I understand.
You'll soon be back with mummy and dad.'
I knew the big policeman well
Before he'd talked the teeniest while.
Such a lot of things he had to tell;
And he had the cheeriest, merriest smile.
I've got a nipper at home like you
So high, young fella-me-lad,' he said.
And all at once - as true as true
I forgot to cry, and I laughed instead.
And then the big policeman said:
'Ho, that's the stuff for the troops, old son!'
The funniest things came into his head;
And I laughed and laughed at every one.
And when they found my mummy and dad,
And he patted my head and said good-bye.
Somehow or other I felt quite sad;
But I knew he'd be sorry to see me cry.
I know that all policemen now
Are just like that, and it's silly to think
They frown and bully and make a row,
Why, you ought to have seen my merry one wink!
And when I pass where he has his beat,
When I'm out for a walk with mummy and dad,
I wave to my big friend in the street,
'What Ho,' says he, 'young fella-me-lad.'

Ache
Ache woke up this morning and felt no too cool
cause every time I tried to make my mouth move
The pain Im having is so discomforting
Please make this suffering go away
I told my mom what I was feeling
And how long Ive been dealing with it
Knew it was coming, but didnt know how soon
She said Ive reached another adolescent monsoon
Oooo ahh... the pain is tremendous
Why cant I take it like a man
Oooo ahh... the pain is horrendous
Why dont you lend a helpin hand
He was a well-educated man, had his degree in medicine
I noticed his hairy hands... he was a very, very hairy man
He looked right down in, shook his head and then
Said these teeth must be pulled right away!
He turned around, rolled up his sleeve
I rolled my eyes then suddenly
A horrible pain grew, the next thing that I knew
The doc had pulled my wisdom teeth...out!
Well along with my teeth my money also left me
As he made out the bill, I was moaning
Oooo ahh... the pain is tremendous
Where the hell is my prescription...of codeine?
But when will I speak, how long until my mouth feels natural?
How long will they bleed, when will they heal, wheres the real meal
? how do you feel? how do you feel? how do you feel? how do you
Feel?
I feel good...i feel great...theres no pain...theres no ache
I feel good...i feel great...just let me recuperate
Because the codeine has left me drowsy, leave me be...just let me sleep!

The next to last pew
An old man was at church last Sunday
He sat in the next to last pew
I slid into the seat right next to him
And gave a him a friendly “hi-dee-do”
He gave me a nod with his time worn brow
Then swiveled his head all around
While his gaze sized up the parishioners
His ears seemed to soak up their sound
His sad gaze seemed to pick out each person
One by one, as he seemed to stare into their soul
To some he nodded, in an approving way
While to others his look was ice cold
I asked if he was a member of this church
I said I wasn’t familiar with him, was he new?
He smiled a soft smile and shook his head no
Said “I’m here most of the time…
here in this next to last pew”
I said “what do you think of our little church”
He rubbed his hands through his hair of silver grey
Looked deep in my eyes and gave a soft, sad sigh
And said “you may not like what I have to say”
He said “ Son, I can see into the soul of these people
And to you, what I say is on the level”
That Most are fools in the eyes of the Lord
The rest are pawns in the hands of the devil
I looked all around at my fellow church-goers
Of whom he spoke, I knew of more than a few
And when I turned back to allow “that could be so”
I was all alone in the next to last pew!

Drunk Driving Poem
I went to a party, Mom, I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank soda instead
I really felt proud inside, Mom, the way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom, even though the others said I should.
I know I did the right thing, Mom, I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending
Mom, as everyone is driving out of sight.
As I got into my car, Mom, I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me, so responsible and sweet.
I started to drive away, Mom, but as I pulled out into the road,
the other car didn't see me, Mom, and hit me like a load.
As I lay there on the pavement, Mom, I hear the policeman say,
the other guy is drunk, Mom, and now I'm the one who will pay.
I'm lying here dying, Mom.. I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom? My life just burst like a balloon.
There is blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom, I'll die in a short time.
I just wanted to tell you, Mom, I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom. The others didn't think.
He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is, he drank and I will die.
Why do people drink, Mom? It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, Mom, and I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare.
Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom, put 'moms boy' on my grave.
Someone should have told him, Mom, not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, Mom. I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I needed you, you were always there.
I have one last question, Mom, before I say good bye.
I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die?
