A lot of people out there pay good lip service to the idea of personal freedom... right up to the point that someone tries to do something that they don't personally approve of.

Don't Take It Personally
Here's a scoop,
For those who have been duped.
Don't take it personally.
People who do this have no idea,
You may be among the few...
Who are aware of what they do.
And you are not blind,
To what they pursue!
With an awakened consciousness,
Here is what truth will prove...
Know they represent your environment.
And If I were you,
I'd assess the others living in it...
To see if there are signs,
Of a collective mindset...
That embraces a thought process,
That anyone possesses.
And this has not yet...
Been considered a crime.
And be cautious to what it is you exchange,
With anyone who seems 'sane' of mind!
Some folks have lips like leaking faucets.
Here's a scoop,
For those who have been duped.
Don't take it personally.
People who do this have no idea,
You may be among the few...
Who are aware of what they do,
With an awakened consciousness.
However...
This is suggested!
Do not become suspected,
Of over using your point of view.
To then become publicly detected,
Of making attempts to walk tall...
With bright and unclouded eyes.
That are able to see through masquerade.
Or charades that are disguised.
Or those 'promised' opened doors,
Will suddenly slam close.
To then have you 'tarred and feathered'.
Or even perhaps fire hosed!
Or both.
Vicious are those who become exposed.
You have then to 'them' become the enemy.
One that has discovered a secret perceived,
No one sees.
A discovery of witnessing them...
And theirs and most of their kin,
As deceiving thieving busy bees.
Here's a scoop,
For those who have been duped.
Don't take it personally.
Those who believe themselves superior,
Have labelled you a fool!
Just be cool about it.
And observe and notice what real fools do.
Someday this may be of benefit to you.

The True Meaning Of Freedom
Many look on what constitutes freedom one might say differently
What seems free to you may not seem free to me
To be ruled by your own people to you as freedom does count
But in the true meaning of freedom that to little amount.
To be ruled by your own people may be seen as quite okay
But if you have to be careful with the words you do say
Then you are not a free person despite about it how you may feel
Your idea of freedom to me does not appeal.
Of love of Country you are one who brag
And your patriotism you carry in your National flag
But despite this your Government you seemingly fear
And they only tell you what you need to hear.
Patriotic songs and ballads many like to sing
And to their admiration of freedom fighters they fervently do cling
And if that's your idea of freedom well that suits me fine
Though your ideas on life are quite different to mine.

Too Personal
Youre to to to too personal
Youre to to to too personal
Well you keep talking about love -
Well what do you want
We have fun alright - so what do you want
The idea of fate its all in the mind
We are the ones who control our own time
Look dont get me wrong
But if you keep on Im gonna go
Youre to to to too personal
Youre to to to too personal
You say everyones lonely and insecure
All because of living in hate and fear
Well if love is possession baby you better change
No ones gonna keep me in those chains
Look dont get me wrong
But if you keep on Im gonna go
Forget your personal problems
Think about somebody else
Im gonna think about them - right now
Youre to to to too personal
Youre to to to too personal
Youre to to to too personal
Youre to to to too personal

Just the concept of personal freedom within a democracy, for instance, is a relatively young idea - only about 300 years old in this country.

Whose Freedom?
Freedom, freedom, freedom!
Whose freedom?
My freedom, your freedom, our freedoms;
Like e thousand times of a cry in a land!
Yes, they rule with iron-hand but,
We have to obey always;
A rule with an iron fist but,
We have to be the subjects always;
Whose freedom?
Look around you,
It is full of colours;
My freedom, your freedom, their freedoms!
Freedom, freedom, freedom! ! !
We nedd freedom than these shackles.
Whose freedom?
Free-free-free! Freedom to my people! !
Which people?
My people, your people, our peoples;
Have mercy on them and rule them with care.
We need freedom around us,
Whose freedom?
See the type of governments around you;
The people's freedom with an iron fist!
Tell me if all is well.

I have a much wider, freer view about spirituality. I feel that people need to pursue it on their own, personally. You know, let it be theirs - a personal relationship with their soul, or their God, or with their church.

It is a good idea to be ambitious, to have goals, to want to be good at what you do, but it is a terrible mistake to let drive and ambition get in the way of treating people with kindness and decency. The point is no that they will then be nice to you. It is that you will feel better about yourself.

An Idea
An Idea can change the world, how many
things can be done from an idea, every piece
of object was an idea, sense the beginning of
time idea was the first thought created in the
mind, an idea is what surround’s every being.
But an idea is still only an idea and it can't be
felt, you cannot touch an idea or kiss it, or hold it,
ideas do not bleed or feel pain or love, an idea
cannot be seen or heard, its created in our thoughts,
but then again an idea can become real. An idea
can be what ever you which it to be, an idea can
be destructive, an idea can be brilliant, I've seen
people get killed in the name of ideas, ideas,
we walk around with a little
light bulb blinking in our thoughts, ideas.

A Good Time
Time was once just a clock to me
And life was just a book a biography
Success was something you just had to be
And I would spend myself unknowingly
And you know that I could have me a million more friends
And all Id have to lose is my point of view
But I had no idea what a good time would cost
Till last night when I sat and talked with you.
An apple will spoil if its been abused
A candle disappears when its been used
A rainbow may follow up a hurricane
And I cant leave forever on a train
And you know that Id survive if I never spoke again
And all Id have to lose is my vanity
But I had no idea what a good time would cost
Till last night when you sat and talked with me.
You can smile for the lack of something else to do
And no one will laugh and point a finger at you
If your tears didnt always make me feel so bad
Would you still cry every time that you felt sad?
I thought Id heard and seen enough to get along
Till you said something neither of us knew
And I had no idea what a good time would cost
Till last night when I sat and talked with you.

Freedom And I
many a time i wonder
what's freedom is all about
the world and i
are so much obsessed
that when freedom does dawn
it's hardly ever discerned
pity, chained to the idea, the idea
in itself is taken for freedom
what's freedom worth when
in its name we collectively
and individually cling to that
misrepresented ideology?
when we spend last dropp of energy
in defending a clinging ideology?
can we ever free our clinging selves
from the chain
of grief
of bonds
within and without
and the resultant nightmares
that make us restive
in sleep as well wakefulness?
can we ever succeed in drawing
atleast one breath in that
one moment of fleeting freedom
and cherish it?

0181 Ouch! You've been prioritised....
You quite like going to school,
‘cos your best friend’s there
and you hang out together;
then this morning, they’re with
their new best friend..
don’t take it personally,
you’ve been prioritised
You like your job,
you’re doing good work,
and the boss knows it,
gives you the special jobs;
then this week someone else
is in the boss’s good books
and due for promotion..
don’t take it personally,
you’ve been prioritised
You have the happiest,
most secure relationship
you could ever have hoped for;
then as you dance in your elegant outfit
cheek to cheek, your partner
looks over your shoulder, and
looks… and looks again…
don’t take it personally,
you’ve been prioritised
and you wonder
what angels find to talk about?

Personal
Anything you want from me
Ill do
But first
Lets get personal
Personal
Personal
Personal
Lets get personal
Personal
Personal
Personal
Personal with you
Were sittin havin dinner at your parents home
Some of the finest food Ive ever known
But I need some sweetness on my tongue
And it aint a type of sugar oh no
So maybe we can go somewhere
Neighbour room girl I dont care
Wheres the bedroom
(its upstairs)
Ill meet you there in a minute
Girl so we can get
Lets get personal (ooh yeah)
Personal (tight baby)
Personal (maybe we can get)
Personal (just a little, just a little bit)
Lets get personal (ooh yay)
Personal (I wanna get personal)
Personal (come on baby, just trust me)
Personal (I wanna get)
Personal with you
Im behind you in your bedroom with your hands against the wall
But keeping one eye on the door
Got your t-shirt and your panties on
Ooh I feel so right, cant be wrong, no
I know you like it when I touch you there
Girl just keep it quiet or theyll hear
Feel the tremblin all down your leg
Id love to head to your bed
So that we can get
Personal
Shhh
Should I take off my clothes (no)
Put the lock on the door
Let go of your deepest inhibitions
Let me fulfil your fantasies girl
Like me touching you there (yeah)
The way that I play with your hair
Emotions running wild until we stop
Yeah
Lets get personal (ooh baby)
Personal (I wanna get personal with you)
Personal (we can do anything you wanna do)
Personal (whoah)
Lets get personal (when you rub and youre close to me)
Personal (feel the fire just like ecstasy)
Personal (girl and the way that youre touching me I want it baby all the time)
Personal
Personal with you
Oh I want to
Make love to you
So lets
Get personal
Let me be
Your fantasy
Youre all
I need oh girl
Lets get personal
Personal (with every little thing you do)
Personal (its like ecstasy baby)
Personal (when Im right when Im back next to you)
Personal (girl I dont give a damn about)
Personal (whos that saw, go downstairs)
Personal (I just wanna get personal baby)
Personal (so bad makes me wanna say)
Oh whoa whoa whoa
It makes me wanna say
Oh whoa whoa whoa
All of my people say
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh

Please Do Not Take This Personally
I am impressed by your progress.
And 'controlled' ability to listen.
'That' I applaud.
We both have shown tremendous growth.
However,
I must bring this to your attention!
That you still refuse to regard my opinion,
Is a matter of your own survival.
I can only extend my best wishes.
But I will 'suggest' this...
Maybe vacating the entire building,
Before the wrecking ball swings.
And the building gets hit?
Leaving it,
Will decrease my 'suspicions'...
That you and your followers will suffer fatalities.
And maybe life long injuries that 'will' exist!
I'm not wishing this.
Perhaps it is an 'intuitive' perception.
Perhaps?
'How would you know this?
What experience do you have?
Why do you attempt to undermine my leadership?
And question my competence?
When 'that' stirs your jealousy.
And to see it is so sad!
When you can produce documented proof,
Perhaps 'then' your 'opinions...
Will be for us more significant.
Until then,
Things will be done as I see fit!
And I can see already,
You are envious of this!
Right now,
And please do not take this personally!
But right now,
I see you as an arrogant and egotistical opportunist!
Using that wrecking ball as a means to make a point,
You have yet to prove.'
You are right.
We do have communication problems.
However...
I do not foresee them as being in our way too much longer!
'I'm glad you have finally come to your senses.
You are not the only one,
With insight and observation.
And seeing it from our point of view,
There will be lessons learned for you.'
You have no idea!
And by the way...
No!
I don't.
I don't take these lessons to be learned,
As personal at all!
Not on these levels of such clarity.
In fact,
I am honored to have you teach them to me.
Lessons like these are life changing!
And once in a lifetime do they come.
Bon Voyage!

Of course, sometimes when you write personally, you are also writing about society, obliquely reflecting topical issues, but not in a way that people would expect you to or in the way that someone trying to make a point would.

Look What The Good People Done
They were drinkin his wine
They were usin his name
They were takin the time to take
His name in vain
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
They were havin their fun
Look what the good people done
Well, the good people say things that they
Dont really mean
They look so convincing cause theyre
So squeaky clean
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
Its a million to one
Look what the good people done
They (? put him on walkin down ? ), they said,
Lets go on with the show
And they pad him on whiskey and say, boy,
Youve got to go
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
Hes (? on the highway ? ) to none
Look what the good people done
All the newspaper men
They were lookin for names
Pulled him out of a hat
They needed someone to blame
Look what the good people done to him
Look what the good people done to him
He thought he was the one
Look what the good people done
Well, the good people say,
Keep your nose to the ground
Then theyll build you right up
Just to knock you right down
Look what the good people done to you
Look what the good people done to you
They were gettin their kicks
Look what the good people nixed
[spoken - here we go]
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
Look what the good people done to me
They were havin no fun
Look what the good people done

Any idea can be brought into the classroom if the point is to inquire into its structure, history, influence and so forth. But no idea belongs in the classroom if the point of introducing it is to recruit your students for the political agenda it may be thought to imply.

It Wasnt My Idea To Dance
The people throwing pennies in my soup
Expecting me to be ashamed of you
Now my needs are growing and Im groping round
I am really groping round
We didnt break until the morning
One dramatic glance
Now its too late to want your freedom
It wasnt my idea to dance
The prince of thunder gave his warning speech
His talons dared to grasp you from my reach
Once again you clutch me to your warming breast
Now I lay me down to rest
We didnt break until the morning
One dramatic glance
Now its too late to want your freedom
It wasnt my idea to dance
As dawn is nearing
Im hearing tearful music
So I have given you the will to weep
For now youre at your last and final peak
Dangerously the past it explodes about by ears
Loudly ringing through my ears
We didnt break until the morning
One dramatic glance
Now its too late to want your freedom
It wasnt my idea to dance
It wasnt my idea to dance

You have to treat people gently because we're all in a process. What might seem like a good idea to somebody at 21 is probably not going to seem like a good idea at 50, but you don't know that until you get there.
