Ode to The Dagger Between CY and Poplar
Almost to easy to cut the umbilical
rid ourselves of sprawling void’s, shaded brown,
that expand to infinity, and of Casper Mt.’s shadow
So, the first night, of our last summer, drank
CLC, toasted our memories, and our escape:
Class of ‘04: football state champions.

An ego once unleashed,
Releases an exposed insecurity.
And accepts the limitation of praise given to it,
As an acknowledgement to something witnessed...
That will be condoned forever.
