What urgent need for hurry
arms, equipment, load.
Proud horses, prancing, flurry,

As fierce Huns loot the land
speed’s need none gainsay,
so forth, at royal command
we marched without delay.
Well matched, the coursers dusky,
well trained, the teams of four,
that June we raised an army
while wolf pawed at the door.
War’s trappings rapid ready,
each twelve miles stages lay,
to summons answered quickly
King’s call for aid obeyed.
At centre marched main army,
well marshalled, all could see,
then advanced the cavalry
which charged to victory, -
upon the foe descended,
rushing to the fray,
in blood the battle ended
restoring peace alway.
Those huns showed judgement faulty
in looting Tso and Ho,
with forays rash they made too free
to Fang, til Fu said “No! ”
Bright banners bird-emblazoned,
white pennants on display,
waved while chariots hastened
before, to clear the way.
Those war cars proved so sturdy,
kept steady, even keel,
their teams spurred on superbly
proving trainers’ zeal.
The Huns soon broke in panic –
till T’ai Yun, far away,
we ran them down, - titanic
Ki-Fu, our lord, that day!
Great Ki-Fu feasted gaily
in peacetime as in war,
a model for each land free –
then homeward turned once more.
Throughout trip long red wine ran strong,
good cheer, good food, good play,
then true Chang-Chung joined to our throng, -

To Fiddle With A Nothing To Do To Get Done
Early in my life,
I became inquisitive about it.
And I am glad it has not stopped.
With a developing of many interests.
So happy am I,
My curiosities I have not dropped.
Some who have retired,
Seem to have done it from living life.
Only to have one interest...
As a routine until that ends.
And with nothing else in which to depend...
Can be,
And is...
A boring existence.
And to become bored with a life that still exists,
I can not imagine it.
Constantly there are changes made.
And those who once believed a stability meant,
Doing one thing that defined a normalcy...
May find themselves and that normalcy,
As outdated as one accepting...
A stability one perceived would stay forever.
And a forever,
Is just not meant to be.
And those once called a jack of all trades,
But a master of none.
Have found themselves amongst those,
Not the ones at home alone,
Twiddling their thumbs.
To fiddle with a nothing to do to get done.
This is not a problem for a jack of all trades.

A Bleak Black Picture
Swat teams that come in and swat like flies
Are being used to terrorize.
They look like the Nazis that everyone feared
And are under the impression they should be revered.
Dressed in black with shielded faces,
They use their clubs and disperse their maces.
Set up by law enforcement to enforce the law
Against our own citizens with "shock and awe".
What are we teaching our kids of today?
That this kind of action is justifiably okay?
It's not and it's wrong.
It demonstrates that we're weak,
