The single most important thing we can do today to ensure a strong, successful future for Wisconsin is invest in our kids early - because what we do now will determine what kind of state Wisconsin will be 10, 20, even 50 years from now.

The important aspect shouldn't be whose administration it is, the important aspect should be how does the state of Wisconsin work, what can we do to move Wisconsin forward.

Other than motherhood, the eight years that I spent at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, I have incredibly fond memories of. It's a beautiful place, with four seasons up in Wisconsin. And really wonderful people.

People of Wisconsin
Years ago people settled in Wisconsin
from near and distant countries and for those who lived there before.
People from the past.., such rich diversity,
yet people still travel, here and there,
to and fro, everyday.
People from the past,
People from the present,
makes what Wisconsin is today.

From its earliest days, stem cell research has been important to the people of Wisconsin.
My Shieka Pup
Shieka was my second pup who was a lot of fun.
He looked like a miniature Ta-Shieka.
who was half German Shepherd and Chow,
Shieka was born in the state with a lot of cows.
Yes, he was born in Wisconsin.
He was half Pomeranian.
His mother’s name was named Sweet Carolyne,
she had Pomeranian, in her blood line.
His father’s name was Dream Boat for Shieka
was born on the St. Croix river,
I got Shieka him out of Wisconsin so he wouldn’t shiver.
His dad was of the Sheltie breed,
Shieka was very independent and did is own thing.
He would pick up a bone, walk,
then put it down then lift his leg do his thing,
He was shipped to Minnesota and there he lived.
I bought Shieka at a pet store and took him to the sunshine state,
He was well behaved on the plane, he was really great.
He stayed with me, until one sad day,
someone came and took him away.
He was out chasing cats in the front lawn,
I didn’t believe it, I thought how could he be gone?
I know wherever he is, he is running around a little tree.
He is having fun, amusing everyone.

As I've often said, Wisconsin's greatest strength continues to be the dedicated, hardworking people of our state. They go to work everyday, pay their taxes, and raise their kids with good, Midwestern values.

I don't think Wisconsin should become known as a state where we shoot cats.
Wisconsin's kids shouldn't be allowed to fail just because Washington is failing them.
My goal was to do the best job I could in governing the state of Wisconsin, in some cases making very tough decisions to have to bring our spending in line with the resources we had at the state level.

Rural Diversity
Migrant workers..
From Texas to Wisconsin
Fifty years ago..
Coming to where the work
and dreams were plentiful.
A little ale and little sleep
This cultural diversity is a part of
our rural farming history
Past and Present
A young Texan hombre
Finding work and a little pay
Courting a senorita
both from the same tiny Texan town, Cotulla
They marry here in Wisconsin
Their offspring playing
in the fields of their toil.
Most went on to find jobs
in industry; living the blue collar life
making the steel harvesters
that promised to replace the manual labor.
Look in the fields today
Still they come,
but from farther borders
Fifty years later...
coming to where the work
and dreams still smell of promise.

Wisconsin is very proud of the career and technical college system that we have back home.
The important aspect as we look at this budget, and as we look at previous budgets, is the budget system - what I'm trying to get at is changing budgeting itself in Wisconsin.

Here's the thing - I'm single, I haven't been married, I don't have kids yet. If I do have kids I would be interested to see them in my life, so here's a movie for kids and I'm in there and I'm supposed to be kind of funny for kids.

Whether you are from Minnesota, Wisconsin or any other Northern tier state, you are not going to like the reimbursement formula. The problem we face is that we wouldn't have that formula if a majority of the states didn't like it, and they have the majority of the votes.
