If I ever find a pitcher who has heat, a good curve, and a slider, I might seriously consider marrying him, or at least proposing.

The Sleeper

If you’re ever in Chicago, , and you have some extra time, .
There’s a baseball legend buried there, a sleeper of a kind.
He won’t help you win at fantasy. It was long ago he played
For forty years or more he has been waiting in his grave.

John Donaldson was a Monarch on the Kansas City team,
perhaps the greatest pitcher ever in the Negro League.
His fastball was like Feller’s when Bob was in his prime
He had a Curve like Mathewson’s, a Giant of his time.

He is buried among teammates who never made the Show
A three hundred game winner that true fans ought to know.
In little towns and hamlets he won renown and fame
He never made the majors, they were then a white man’s game.

His victories and strikeouts have been obscured by time.
He was born a bit too early to ever break the color line.
He was working toting mailbags on his final fatal day
When, like his famous slider, he would break down and fade away.

Im Not The Marrying Kind

(words & music by david - edwards)
Show me a girl with a dimple on her cheek
Butter melts in her mouth
When she opens it to speak
Show me a girl who is acting so refined
And Ill show you a girl with one thing on her mind
So I say you know what? she says what?
I say what? oh Im not the marrying kind
For youve got what it takes
And it takes what youve got
But Im not the marrying kind
Dont kiss me, dont claw me
Dont pet me, dont paw me
And I wont leave my freedom behind
So I say you know what? she says what?
I say what? oh Im not the marrying kind.
You know what? she says what?
Thanks a lot, but Im not the marrying kind
Dont kiss me, dont claw me
Dont pet me, dont paw me
And I wont leave my freedom behind
So I say you know what? she says what?
I say what? oh Im not the marrying kind
Im not, Im not, Im not, Im not
Now youve got what Im not
Im not the marrying kind
Oh Im not the marrying kind
Oh Im not the marrying kind

The Thirsty Crow

Have you ever heard this story before?
Of a wise and clever thirsty crow?
Well, if you haven't then listen
The famous tale of this hero, now let's begin,
It happened when in a spell of dry weather,
The poor birds could find very little water,
This crow, when he felt thirsty,
Searched for some water desperately,
But in summer, as it was great famine,
Even a dropp of water he couldn't find,
This unfortunate fellow thought that he must,
In despair surely die of thirst,
Then suddenly he spied an old pitcher,
Filled with very little water,
But oh! The pitcher was so high with a narrow neck,
The little water, the poor crow could never get,
He was unlucky, thought the crow,
His beak couldn't reach the water as it was low,
Then suddenly a brilliant idea flashed into his mind,
Around him some pebbles he could find,
He picked some pebbles and threw into the pitcher,
And finally the water raised its level,
This clever fellow then threw more pebbles
Until the water was higher in the pitcher,
Higher enough for his beak to reach the water,
The thirsty crow now took a sip of water,
Then drank more water from the pitcher,
Until he was no more thirsty,
The genius crow then flew away,
To tell the world about his victory!

Deadmans Curve

The street was desserted late friday night
We were buggin each other while we sat out the light
We both popped our clutch when the light turned green
You should have heard the wine from my screamin machine
I flew past la brea, down to crescent heights
And all the jag could see were my six tail lights
He passed me at doheny and I started to swerve
But I pulled her out and there we were at deadmans curve
Deadmans curve is no place to play
Deadmans curve
Well, the last thing I remember doc.
I started to swerve, and then I saw the jag slide into the curb
I know Ill never forget that horrible sight
I found out for myself, that everyone was right
Wont come back from deadmans curve
Deadmans curve is no place to play
Deadmans curve you best keep away
Deadmans curve I can hear them say
Wont come back from deadmans curve

I'm always amazed when a pitcher becomes angry at a hitter for hitting a home run off him. When I strike out, I don't get angry at the pitcher, I get angry at myself. I would think that if a pitcher threw up a home run ball, he should be angry at himself.

Black Mamba

Hand in the snake pit - black mamba chase.
Head through the lions cage - head on a plate.
Two feet on the hot coals - last dance at the ball.
Blindfold on the tightrope - whenever you call.
Be my slippery slider, black mamba crawl over me.
Dark thoughts of the sleepless - hung out to dry.
Slip through the bedclothes - unblinking eye.
Long tongue flickering - fixed stare grip.
Sweet venomous potion, held to my lip.
Be my slippery slider, black mamba crwal over me.
A tropical whisper. a sibilant kiss.
Soft strike teasing. dangerous bliss.

Social compatability

By marrying a high woman,
To her kin you are a serf.
By marrying a low woman,
To her kin you are a king.
In both ways she get moments
Where she is embarrassed.

This World Is Now Sick! !

And of men marrying men and, of women marrying women;
But, the same people go to church and read their Bibles!
Yet still, they do not understand what is written down in,
'Leviticus Chapter 18' and 'Romans 1: 26-27'.

Potters' Clay

Though the pitcher that goes to the sparkling rill
Too oft gets broken at last,
There are scores of others its place to fill
When its earth to the earth is cast ;
Keep that pitcher at home, let it never roam,
But lie like a useless clod,
Yet sooner or later the hour will come
When its chips are thrown to the sod.

Is it wise, then, say, in the waning day,
When the vessel is crack'd and old,
To cherish the battered potter's clay,
As though it were virgin gold ?
Take care of yourself, dull, boorish elf,
Though prudent and safe you seem,
Your pitcher will break on the musty shelf,
And mine by the dazzling stream.

Born Under Punches

Take a look at these hands.
Take a look at these hands.
The hand speaks. the hand of a government man.
Well Im a tumbler. born under punches.
Im so thin.
All I want is to breathe Im too thin
Wont you breathe with me?
Find a little space, so we can move in-between in-between it
And keep on step ahead, of yourself.
Dont you miss it, dont you miss it.
Some a you people just about missed it!
Last time to make plans!
Well Im a tumbler...
Im a government man.
Never seen anything like that before
Falling bodies tuble cross the floor well Im a tumbler!
When you get to where you wanna be thank you! thank you!
When you get to where you wanna be dont even mention it!
Take a look at these hands. theyre passing in-between us.
Take a look at these hands
Take a look at these hands. you dont have to mention it.
No thanks. Im a government man.
And the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...
And the heat goes on...where the hand has been...and the heat goes
On...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes
On...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes
On...where the hand has been...and the heat goes on...and the heat
Goes on...
Im not a drowning man!
And Im not a burning building! (Im a tumbler!)
Drowning cannot hurt a man!
Fire cannot hurt a man. (not the government man.)
All I want is to breathe thank you. thank you
Wont you breathe with me?
Find a little space...so we move in-between Im so thin
And keep one step ahead of yourself. Im catching up with myself
All I want it to breathe
Wont you breathe with me hands of a government man
Find a little space so we move in-between
And keep one step ahead of yourself. dont you miss it! dont you
Miss it!
And the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...
And the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...
And the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes on...
Where the hands has been...and the heat goes on...and the heat goes
On...and the heat goes on...

I Feel A Rising

What I say to you,
Seems to be big news...
In-the-neighborhood.

I didn't think it true.
You...
Whisper in ears too.
I...
Couldn't believe you would.
I...I...
Wouldn't believe you could.
I...I...
Couldn't believe you would.
I...I...
What I say to you,
Seems to be big news...
In-the-neighborhood.

I didn't think it true.
You...
Whisper in ears too.
Why?
Why?

You come and go as you please,
And say...
Not,
A word to me.
Why?
Why?
Why?

You've got my heart wrapped up,
In some kind of beating hold.
I can't from you let go!
Why?
Why?
Why?

Why I let you torcher me...
Emotionally?
Why?
Why do I feel you needing?
Why is your heat so close to me?

You've got my heart wrapped up,
In some kind of beating hold.
I can't from you let go!
Why do I feel you needing?
Why is your heat so close to me?

What I say to you,
Seems to be big news...
In-the-neighborhood.

I didn't think it true.
You...
Whisper in ears too.

Why is that heat I feel on me...
Feel so good.
Why does that heat on me...
Feel good.
What is that heat?

Why is that heat I feel on me...
Feel so good.
Why does that heat on me...
Feel good.
What is that heat?

What we do,
Seems to be big news.
In,
The neigborhood.

Why is that heat I feel on me...
Feel so good.
Why does that heat on me...
Feel good.
What is that heat?

I feel a rising hypnotized...
By your heat.
Yes...
By
Your
Heat.
Yes...
I feel a rising,
By your heat.
I feel a rising.
