I would hope to inspire in my listeners a feeling of freedom - of speech, thought and political activity.

What is your definition of freedom in the 21st century?
Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion all have a double aspect - freedom of thought and freedom of action.

Freedom of speech and freedom of action are meaningless without freedom to think. And there is no freedom of thought without doubt.

You can't trust politicians. It doesn't matter who makes a political speech. It's all lies - and it applies to any rock star who wants to make a political speech as well.

Wherever the relevance of speech is at stake, matters become political by definition, for speech is what makes man a political being.

Real freedom
Franchise freedom sans political freedom,
Political freedom sans societal freedom,
Societal freedom sans economic freedom.
Economic freedom sans marital freedom,
Marital freedom sans sexual freedom
Is no freedom you grant women.

Freedom isn't easy
Freedom of speech
Freedom of thought
are these the things
that you sought?
Freedom is what everyone wants
But Freedom looks at us and mocks
Only a few get what they wish for
they are the ones that soar like hawks
We all know that we have right
yet Freedoms looks at us with spite
We all want to say
what we wish today
we all wish to do what we desire
yet that is only what we can aspire
we all want to break free from our chains
to run away from our restrains
So work hard for Freedom
It isn't free like it says
work hard for Freedom
and look toward blissful days
Free Speech
Free speech?
You neither have that...
Inside or near,
The boundaries...
Where you believe,
What you say and do is okay.
Especially if it effects,
The placement of my footsteps.
When your free speech,
Begins to tamper with my peace?
You may be free to protest about it...
For as long as you like.
But not in my backyard.
From here you can take a hike.
Since not a penny of tax,
Have you paid...
To cross my path or threshold,
To express your opinions...
About how it is I live my life.
With your aggressive impressions.
Is that understood?
I hope so.
You have no freedom here to do as you please.
I am not from that generation!
Unless you want to experience my freedom,
To give you a taste of my interpretation.
And when I feel threatened,
That's the only freedom here that exists.

You Cannot Tell Me!
you cannot tell me
that freedom sees color,
religion, or financial status.
you cannot tell me
that freedom divides
between classes.
you cannot tell me
that freedom is for the few,
and not for the many.
you cannot tell me
that freedom can be bought,
sold, or traded.
you cannot tell me
that freedom can be won
by destroying innocent lives.
you cannot tell me
that freedom invades other countries
for political or economic reasons.
you cannot tell me
that freedom exists without justice.
you cannot tell me
that freedom is out of reach!

Make no laws whatever concerning speech, and speech will be free; so soon as you make a declaration on paper that speech shall be free, you will have a hundred lawyers proving that "freedom does not mean abuse, nor liberty license"; and they will define and define freedom out of existence. Let the guarantee of free speech be in every man's determination to use it, and we shall have no need of paper declarations. On the other hand, so long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men.

It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind references to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communications policies.

Unfortunately, the media, which are not at all reluctant to act in their own self-interest, have succeeded in equating reform in the public mind with further restrictions on just about everyone else's freedom of political speech.

Freedom Thoughts
freedom of speech
freedom of thought
freedom of being
it all begins
with the deep down
individual spark
that allows the force
of being to be whole
you can't hold the wind
in your hands
but you can feel it
on your faces
has not the wind a soul?
yet it claims no identity!
you are only as free
as what you let go of

Did You Say That Your Only Freedom From Pain Is Death?
sad indeed,
there are other freedoms
still
freedom from having no ideas, from this dryness,
freedom from having you
as a poet on forced wit and half-cooked cleverness
freedom from a reader
who has nothing to offer
except his own loneliness
his having nothing to do
freedom from beng bored
to death
freedom from having nothing
to say and comment
freedom from this feeling of emptiness
this bigotry
this indigestion of dumb thoughts
freedom
from impertinence, immateriality, irrelevance,
freedom from thinking about freedom
freedom from freedom itself
there are more
freedom from pain
is useless now
that you are dead.
