Women In Uniform
Beehive hairdo, 45 on the hip
Patrolwoman Saunders, don't you give her no whip
Took me to the station for a breathtest
then back to the bedroom for some house-arrest
[Chorus:]
Women in uniform, sometimes they look so cold
Women in uniform, but, Oh! They feel so warm
Coming back to London on a 747
Stewardess made me feel like I'm in heaven
Looking up the aisle to see what I could see
She leaned over said; Give it to me
White apron, brown leather shoes
The nurse at the clinic left my heart all bruised
Gave me a massage, sprained my right
Now she takes my temperature every night
[Chorus]
Women in uniform, Women in uniform
Women in uniform, Women in uniform
Commando raid on the Lebanese border
Sergeant Anita, she gives the order
Khaki jacket and a love gun
Baby, I surrender, let's have some fun
[Chorus]
[Solo]
[Chorus]
Women in uniform, Women in uniform
Women in uniform, Women in uniform
Women in uniform, Khaki, white and blue
Women in uniform, coming after you
Women, women, Women in uniform
Women, women, Women in uniform
[Chorus]

When I First Put This Uniform On
When I first put this uniform on,
I said, as I looked in the glass,
"It's one to a million
That any civilian
My figure and form will surpass.
Gold lace has a charm for the fair,
And I've plenty of that, and to spare,
While a lover's professions,
When uttered in Hessians,
Are eloquent everywhere!"
A fact that I counted upon,
When I first put this uniform on!
I said, when I first put it on,
"It is plain to the veriest dunce
That every beauty
Will feel it her duty
To yield to its glamour at once.
They will see that I'm freely gold-laced
In a uniform handsome and chaste" -
But the peripatetics
Of long-haired aesthetics,
Are very much more to their taste -
Which I never counted upon
When I first put this uniform on!

Nocturnal nod!
Truthfulness!
She wears her transparent nightgown
without an underpant
under the starry night
and I see the World's end?
On the way back
along the same road
Falsehood sleeps on the roadside
groaning!
and I feel sorry for her.
The drunkard old politician
scratching his ringworm
sings under a lamp-post
'We need both of them'
and a retired Lawyer
of his faded uniform
claps to the tune!

Books that have become classics - books that have had their day and now get more praise than perusal - always remind me of retired colonels and majors and captains who, having reached the age limit, find themselves retired on half pay.

When my dad first started out in the police force, wearing the uniform was a sense of pride, and it was respected in the community for what the police force was all about. Unfortunately today, the uniform is a target.

Pre-Retired
Well I'm almost there ya know
that full retirement kinda place.
I'm not old enough to collect any money
can't find a job, with age lines upon my face!
So I guess I'm pre-retired?
I don't have another name, yet for it!
But if this is what retirement is like
where all you do is, just write poems and sit!
Then I'd rather be ten feet under
or something sorta like that!
I use to have a great figure
now all I am is a ball of, pre-retired FAT!
Wife still is working full time
and she looks a lot better than me!
She stays out all night after working
with her girlfriends, not me!
I'm boring I guess, and feel out of place
no real purpose felt anymore.
I use to be a manager of twelve employees
in a large, retail discount store!
So don't tell me about retirement!
and how great it is for you!
It stinks to be pre-retired
and think when my full retirement comes
It won't feel anything like you!

And so, the youngsters you have today, even though there are far fewer of them - in World War II 16.5 million men and women in uniform, today roughly a million in uniform in spite of the fact that the country is almost twice as large a population as we had in World War II.

Uniforms
(3/9/12)
So many uniforms worn in this life, and inside them
You'll find your loved ones -your soul mate
Son, daughter, husband, or wife.
Firemen, policemen, nurses, and military too
They all have a job to do.
And as you look at them with pride
You thank god they're by your side.
The uniform does not make the person
But the person makes the uniform.
Because in it they pour the heart and soul
And it's there where they belong.
The firemen and women who run into a burning house
The cop who goes into the line of fire
The nurse who held their hand on you to stop the bleeding
And of course the military soldier
Who protects our country day and night
And will give up their lives in a fight.
Yet we do not stop and say:
"Thank you for all that you do
I am very proud to know you."
Their uniforms are just their shells
And at times they go thru hell.
But there is a person who never wore a uniform
But created all of them who wear it.
He is all these people rolled into one
He is "GODS SON".
He made these uniforms so that we can see their worth
And it was given to them from their birth.
So many uniforms to show what we do
But it doesn't show the inner you.
This uniform is seen only by god
It is called the human heart.
This uniform can not be replaced
by anything on this earth
For it was given by god at our birth.
We can be as beautiful or as vicious
As any animal on this earth, or as
Soft and sensitive as the most delicate flower
This is given to us from the lords powers.
Let us rejoice in what he has given
And make this life " worth living".

When He Left
Hi mom, it’s me
The littlest boy
I went to war today
I don’t know if I’ll return
Pray for me
For someone to keep me safe
Don’t I look good in uniform?
My blue cap too.
Will my uniform get dirty?
Ripped and torn, with blood?
Will I be a hero?
Will I have the courage to save someone’s life?
Would I have the courage to lose my own?
I’m scared but I’m proud
To know I belong to you
I tried to look serious
And all grown up
But inside I’m scared
I love you
You must know you brought me up well
Now, goodbye don’t cry
For if you do I know I will
I love you
Your son

So desirable
So desirable
I am woman in black uniform
I am aware of recent happenings and remain well informed
I hold the opinion in some of the matter and strongly hold
As I have enough of guts to challenge and be bold
Who can be best in comparison? Whether Indian or foreigner?
I had observed that foreigners were apologetic and good listener?
They seemed to be obedient and respectful to the rules of land
Always presentable to the local population as friend
The item appeared as" What makes men in uniform so desirable"?
They may be less expressive but very much bold, assertive and capable
Their turn out is praise worthy and long to be cherished in mind
Any where else no such persons may be available to find
Some of the people take affront to it as in term of sexual behavior
It has nothing to do with other activities as they act as our savior
In time of war or at home in time of great exigencies
Where as it has become regular feature with increase in frequencies
Men in uniforms are supposed to act exemplary in comparison to civilians
They need to stand with clean image and not as villains
As they have proved real sons of soil and defender
We need to be cautious in addressing them as offenders
Each and every individual is wild animal in disguise
So persons in uniforms can't be discounted as unwise
They are bond to act above yet they are human being
Let us spare them and be not instrumental for discredit to bring
So in terms of behavior we may slightly notice the change
That is all because of geographical and atmospheric range
Basically they are imparted with rigorous training
To remain always fit and still to be maintaining
Who wants who is public perception?
They might have formed their opinion from inception
The people in uniform are not supposed to counter
Any such misgiving, even if existed and try to alter
The armed forces personnel who are in force or retired
Will have to present them without feeling tired
Whole of country, foreign or local, stands to loose
If they remain unconcerned with the scenes or so choose

I'm In The World!
I'm in the world where hope dies.
I'm in the world where truth cries
I'm in the world where lie laughs I'm in the world where love is blind
I'm in the world where hatred is not hard to find
I'm in the world where all fingers aren't equal
I'm in the world where challenges is won by worrior
I'm in the world where opinions aren't in one uniform
I'm in the world where poeple wear different uniform.
I'm in the world where sex is taken for lust
O I'm in the world where ev'rybody accepts his fate!

Paper Cuts
I stand and look at this uniform in discust
paper cuts. Paper cuts. Can you see my paper cut?
Soon. Soon this uniform will touch my open skin.
I go to sleep but suddenly I awake to the morning,
in this trench I hear the sound of guns, the rain is falling,
like myself,
my uniform is discovering blood from and because of my guts,
you thought a poets biggest pain was a paper cut?
You never knew that I knew pain
don't you know that I know pain all too well
well, I know it well like the devil knows hell
well, like a drug dealer who knows how to sell
like a life sentence inside a cell,
you cant touch the pain I feel the pain I felt.
Quiker than the bullit the word spreads
so take your shot make sure you dont waste it
bullit to bone word to mouth I can taste it.
You aim towards no mans land, you stand behind the barb wire
you are the boss and the bullits are your emplyees that you must fire
you are a soldier a soldier that holds great desire
this war is one big debit card that will one day expire
although there isnt a date, I can see a gate. I can see you.
I can see you being led astray by propaganda
you are talking but I can not understand ya. I can see you.
I can see you firing your final round.
I can see that movie moment the one with slow motion and no sound.
I can see you from here. Up here, up high in the sky, down on the ground.
I can see you. You are sat with me in the mud. You speak.
Your eyes shut,
they open like the notepad but the words open up a much deeper cut.
I look. I see. I look at your uniform, I see your guts,
I see your blood.
We sit here with open eyes, the amminition flies through the sky.
Paper cuts. Paper cuts. I sit still as you stand on the front line,
I close my eyes as I realize the blood on your uniform, was infact mine.

The Choice is yours
You put on a uniform and become someone
that you would never be.
Your head is shaved and you learn to salute
and forget what it's like to be free.
Free to form your own opinions,
free to make your own choice,
free to follow no one,
free to speak your own voice.
You discard the uniform and then become
the person you really are.
You grow your hair, your beard, your soul
and salute no military czar.
And in so doing you discard the past
and come to peace at last.
Or do you?
Can you free your mind from what you've done
and sleep peacefully at night?
Or do scenes of battle and killing
never leave your sight?
Think young men and turn away
so there will never come a day
when you will silently cry
or bite the bullet and die.

Tread Softly Soldier Boy
The chapel bells ring solemnly
for the young man in uniform
who has to fight on foreign soil.
His love on her knees prays
that he will return
to her arms safely one day.
No war is ever kind,
a senseless business some say
for the lives that are robbed
from loved ones each day.
Tread softly young men in uniform
in case on battlefields you fall.
Tread softly soldier boy
the enemy waits to hear
your footsteps fall.
Tread softly soldier boy
or in the morning,
you will miss the bugle call.
