Some of my finest memories are from my time at the University of Texas. College baseball, I love it.

I think the University of Texas has the chance to become the finest public university in the country.
Academics often discount the value of top-rated sports programs in helping to develop a campus life and in contributing to the overall success of a college or university. Like it or not, the sports programs a college or university has are the front page of that university.

Theres A Girl In Texas
(trace adkins/vip vipperman)
When I rode out of dallas
Chasing down a dream
I thought I knew what I was looking for
But the neon nights have blinded me
til Im lost in tennessee
Not sure I know who I am anymore... but
Theres a girl in texas
Theres a girl in texas
Theres a girl in texas
That does
Youre a truly lovely lady
And you sure light up the night
Im a lonely man but Im leaving here alone
I wont try to lie to you
About this heart of mine
That I cant give, that I dont really own... cause
Theres a girl in texas
Theres a girl in texas
Theres a girl in texas
That does
If this dream that Ive been chasing
Ever sets me free
And I wake up to find it dont need me
Theres a girl in texas
Theres a girl in texas
Theres a girl in texas
That does
Yes, theres a girl in texas that I still love

Ill Take Texas
When the texas moon is shining down on austin
When it shines across the rio grande
When it comes to makin love
Under the stars above
Well honey Ill take texas everytime
We danced in every ballroom down in beaumont
And we strolled the river walk in san antone
Its where we fell in love
Like to young turtle doves
Well honey Ill take texas everytime
When it comes to makin love
Under the stars above
Honey Ill take texas
Honey Ill take texas
Honey Ill take texas
Honey Ill take texas everytime

College Kids
Someone please save us, us college kids!
What my parents told me is what I did
They said go to school and be a college kid
But in the end I question why I did
Im poor, Im starving, Im flat broke, Ive got no cash to spend
Sell all my books for front row tickets to dave matthews band
My girlfriends at another school, I know this year will test her
I called, found out she had three other boyfriends last semester
And thats why I say
Oh no! not for me, not for me
Call it torture, call it university
No! arts and crafts is all I need
Ill take calligraphy and then Ill make a fake degree
80 grand later I found out that all that I had learned
Is that you should show up to take your finals and your midterms
The party scene is kinda mean, I think its sick and twisted
The navy showed up at my dorm and claimed that I enlisted
And thats why I say
Oh no! not for me, not for me
Call it torture, call it university
No! arts and crafts is all I need
Ill take calligraphy and then Ill make a fake degree
Dont get excited. shell say no without a doubt you see
And Ive decided college girls just wont go out with me
They make me nervous and they always catch me off my guard
Like cell phone services I drop out cause college is too hard
Its time to call my father
Cause its his alma mater
Good grades arent what they seem
I think he knows the dean
Its time to call my father
Cause its his alma mater
He says hes proud of me
But college always was his dream
And I would always say its not for me
Oh no! not for me, not for me
Call it torture, call it university
No! arts and crafts is all I need
Ill take calligraphy and then Ill make a fake degree
Someone please save us, us college kids!
What my parents told me is what I did
They said go to school and be a college kid
But in the end I question why I did
Do what will make you happy
Do what you feel is right
Only but one thing matters
Learn how to live your life
[in background:]
(phi, beta, delta, cappa
Someone please save us, us college kids!
What my parents told me is what I did
They said go to school and be a college kid
But in the end I question why I did)
Do what will make God happy
Do what you feel is right
Only but one thing matters
Learn how to live your life

Deep In The Heart Of Texas
The stars at night - are big and bright
Deep in the heart of texas.
The prairie sky - is wide and high
Deep in the heart of texas.
The sage in bloom - is like perfume
Deep in the heart of texas.
Reminds me of - the one I love
Deep in the heart of texas.
The cowboys cry - ki-yip-pie-yi
Deep in the heart of texas.
The rabbits rush - around the brush
Deep in the heart of texas.
The coyotes wail - along the trail
Deep in the heart of texas.
The doggies bawl - and bawl and bawl
Deep in the heart of texas.

When Its Christmas Time In Texas
When its christmas time in texas
Its a very special time for me
In texas well go swingin round the christmas tree
Dancin to a christmas melody
When its christmas time in texas
It might look just like a summer day
There may not be snow in san antonio
But its a texas christmas to me
[chorus]
When santa claus slips over the border
Itll sound a little different when he sings
cause hell hear those twin fiddles playin
Christmas songs with a touch of western swing
There may not be snow in san antonio
But its a texas christmas to me
When its christmas time in texas
I love to hear those christmas carolers sing
People on the go childrens faces all aglow
Grandpas been chasin grandma around
Tryin to catch her neath the mistletoe
Everything is right the lone star shinin bright
But its a texas christmas to me
Frosty the snowman knew the snow was hot that day
So he said lets run and have some fun before I melt away
Down to the village with a broom stick in his hand
Runnin here and there all around the square
Sayin catch me if you can
[chorus]
And heres wishin you all a merry christmas
Merry christmas from texas and me

Dance Time In Texas
Its dance time in texas and were striking up the band
Lets go honky tonkin honey take my hand
Its dance time in texas where the wine and music flows
Well do that texas two step and that old cotton eyed joe
Ill take you honky tonkin in my old pick up truck
Its dance time in texas and the music lifts you up
Its dance time in texas and were striking up the band
Well go honky tonkinhoney take my hand
Its dance time in texas where the wine and music flows
Well do that texas two step and that old cotton eyed joe
Now its time for a slow dance and were waltzing oh so close
Its dance time in texas and your the one I love the most
Its dance time in texas and were strinking up the band
Well go honky tonkin honey take my hand
Its dance time in texas where the wine and music flows
Well do that texas two step and that old cotton eyed joe

The greatest challenge I think is adjusting to not playing baseball. The reason for that is I had to come out of baseball and come into the business world, not being a college graduate, not being educated to come into the business world the way I should have.

All My Exs Live In Texas
Chorus:
All my exs live in texas
And texas is the place Id dearly love to be
But all my exs live in texas
And thats why I hang my hat in tennessee
Rosannas down in texarkana
Wanted me to push her broom
Sweet eileens in abilene
She forgot I hung the moon
And allisons in galveston
Somehow lost her sanity
And dimpleõs who now lives in temples
Got the law looking for me
Chorus
I remember that old frio river
Where I learned to swim
But it brings to mind another time
Where I wore my welcome thin
By transcendental meditation
I go there each night
But I always come back to myself
Long before daylight
All my exs live in texas
And texas is the place Id dearly love to be
But all my exs live in texas
Therefore I reside in tennessee
Some folks think Im hidin
Its been rumored that I died
But Im alive and well in tennessee

Prairie Rose
(ferry/manzanera)
Texas thats where i
Belong
It seems to me
Texas lonesome star
Shine on
The big country
Texas with open skies
And you
For company
Texas oh prairie rose
How happy
I should be
Hey hey you can take it from me
Hey hey ill be coming, youll see
Hey hey oh what a state to be in
Hey hey youre tantalising me
Texas I will compose
In fancy rhyme
Or just plain prose
Texas a song of praise
To you
Prairie rose
Texas though im not sure
I can explain
Your strange allure
Texas prairie rose -
A crown of thorns
A scented flower
Hey hey id better leave right away
Hey hey I can hear you calling me
Prairie rose

Memories
Memories of good times
Memories of bad times
Memories of our love
So many memories
Memories of us crying
Memories of us laughing
Memories of our commitment
So many memories
Memories of us hugging
Memories of us kissing
Memories of those late nights
So many memories
Memories of how we met
Memories of how you left
Memories of what you said
So many memories
Why did you leave me
with so many memories
Did you ever realize
that my memories are yours
Everything we did together
stays within our memories
I remember getting hurt
Do you hurt too
Let's make a new memory
that we can both share
Let's love again
in our memories

Instead, California is one of only 10 states that provides in-state college and university tuition to illegal immigrants. That's grossly unfair to a legal high school student who moves out of California for a year, then returns to attend college.
