Crawford washed her hands a lot. She washed her arms all the way up past her elbows. She just couldn't get enough done in that direction. She was compulsive about being clean, clean, clean!

I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water (Rehearsal 07-29-70)
I was born in Macon Georgia
They kept my daddy over in Macon jail
He told me if you keep your hands clean
You won't hear them bloodhounds on your trail
Well I fell in with bad companions
Robbed a man, oh up in Tennessee
They caught me way up in Nashville
They locked me up and threw away the key
I washed my hands in muddy water
Washed my hands, but they didn't come clean
Tried to do what my daddy told me
But I must have washed my hands in a muddy stream
Well I asked the judge now when's my time up
He said son, oh you know we won't forget
If you try just to keep your hands clean
We might just make a good man of you yet
Oh I couldn't wait to get my time up
I broke out, broke out of Nashville jail
I just crossed the state-line of Georgia
Well I can hear those bloodhounds on my trail
I washed my hands in muddy water
Washed my hands, but they didn't come clean
Tried to do what my daddy told me
But I must have washed my hands in a muddy stream

Clean
Eat clean,
Live clean,
Sleep clean,
dress clean,
Walk clean,
Learn clean,
Play clean,
Think clean,
dance clean,
Talk clean,
Sing clean,
work clean,
Because the world around you is watching what you do;
You are the only one on this earth,
So live and let us live too.

One Love
So many times love went south
Down into the valley of the shadow of doubt
My faith was failing, my hope was gone
I wandered in the wilderness all alone
You came to me like a revelation
In your arms I found salvation
One love
Took me to the mountaintop
Showed me a world Id never seen
One love took me down to the riverside
Opened my heart and washed me clean
Nothin less than a miracle
Sent from heaven above
One love
Im amazed by the wonder of you
The clouds all open, and the light comes through
All my life I had never guessed
That anyone could ever be so blessed
I feel brand new, Ive been revived
All I want to do is testify
One love
Took me to the mountaintop
Showed me a world Id never seen
One love took me down to the riverside
Opened my heart and washed me clean
Nothin less than a miracle
Sent from heaven above
One love
One love
Took me to the mountaintop
Showed me a world Id never seen
One love took me down to the riverside
Opened my heart and washed me clean
Nothin less than a miracle
Sent from heaven above
One love

The Cleanest Man....
he is clean
he prides about the beard
that he has
just shaven
he is clean
there is no hair left on his head
no hair between his thighs
and legs
he is clean
his chest is bare now
his heart slowly
beating
he is clean as he
is empty
like a room without
furniture and
drapes
he is clean and without
sin
he who has not done
anything
and can do not wrong again...
he is clean now
for he is dead....

Clean Up The World
Clean Up The World
Where have we gone?
We’ve drifted away
Too many years
Nothin’ to say
Too many years
Intentional lies
Too many years
Collegiate-laundered hipplets
Drivin’ us to demise
Got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its cage
Along came McRonald
We got in its way
Too many years
Puppeteers played
Too many years
Stealing us blind
Too many years
Of totalitarians smothering us from the right
Got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its cage
Their Wall Street money’s been holdin’ us fast
Ideals shallow and vain
They sell us all just to make it last
Revolution of ‘89 today
We got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its cage
Self-centered cosmos
Material gain
Too many years
Deflecting their blame
Too many years
Stuffin’ their cart
Too many years
Deceit inside the head
Instead of love in their heart
Got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its grave

Fish In A Bowl
Everywhere I go
A thousand faces stare at me
Eating from the palm
A date from hand to mouth
Break a leg!
The shoes are on the bottom
On your way
But the wardrobe always stays wide open
All washed up
Stood on the shore
The wave is over
But Im all washed up
Fish in a bowl
Everywhere I go
All bob and weave
Or sew it seams
Aiming low in life
They keep their noses clean
All washed up
Stood on the shore
The wave is over
But Im all washed up
Fish in a bowl
An ordered life from start to finish
And my timing is out
All washed up
Stood on the shore
The wave is over
But Im all washed up...fish!

Poem for Mothers' Day
Oh we never know our parents…
isn’t that the cruellest thing?
we were never old enough
to know them as they were;
how I wish I had been just as old
as she and he were; to sit
across the rug from them and say
now tell me the story of your life,
don’t miss out anything..
how could I then not love you more,
you strangers whom I fought to be
myself; where were yourselves the while?
*
I’m crumpling this poem in
my salty hand and throwing it
into the wind whose wisdom
may dropp it at your feet;
your feet I never washed;
would wash now with my tears;
and then, perhaps, wash history
clean, with touched hands, shared laughter;
as clean now as ever after.

Clean Things
Clean beasts must have split hoof and chew the cud,
Clean fish must have scales and fins,
Clean insects must have jointed legs above their feet to hop;
And like other clean things listed in your Bibe.

To William Blake, Poet, At Christmas
Through the tears
soon breaks a smile;
See God's Grace
here in a Child.
Eyes washed clear,
the Soul shines bright;
eyes washed clean,
the World's Delight.

Dirty Jim
THERE was one little Jim,
'Tis reported of him,
And must be to his lasting disgrace,
That he never was seen
With hands at all clean,
Nor yet ever clean was his face.
His friends were much hurt
To see so much dirt,
And often they made him quite clean;
But all was in vain,
He got dirty again,
And not at all fit to be seen.
It gave him no pain
To hear them complain,
Nor his own dirty clothes to survey:
His indolent mind
No pleasure could find
In tidy and wholesome array.
The idle and bad,
Like this little lad,
May love dirty ways, to be sure;
But good boys are seen
To be decent and clean,
Although they are ever so poor.

Eternity Rain
Let this rain wash me
Let it wash my virtual sins
Clean my sorrow from the sins of my fathers
Clean my self form this dirt call life
From the false tells of creation
And clean my mind from the empty words of priest
From the dirty political speech
Let this holy rain clean my sorrow form the sin of love
Sin of being the truthful in this life
I want to clean my mind from the thought control
Clean my head form my mum fairy lies
It need the eternity to clean out my soul and my life from this life dirt
To be clean again i need eternity rain

The Light Is Always Green
We dig our models with the brains the size of models
And cars that we can trust with out wives
And we dig converstations with girls from every nation
But not the ones that whisper or tell lies
Wherever theres a will theres a motorway
Wherever there is greed there is speed
And theyve always got to be there for yesterday
Welcome to the new scalextrics breed
And the light they always show to them
Is green, green, green
And the heels they always show to me
Are clean, clean, clean
Were only flying past so we dig our sevice fast
From the waiters to the women to the wine
Never mind the match, Ive an urgent date to catch
Get me to the concert hall on time
Pretending to be pilots in a war
Pretending to weave between the flak
No-one knows what the missions for
Blinkered horses on the track
And the light they always show to them
Is green, green, green
And the heels they always show to me
Are clean, clean, clean

Like Appiah
To the clean, all things are clean;
But to the defiled and unfaithful,
Nothing is clean.
Avoid foolish speculations,
For they are unprofitable and pointless;
A message to Apphia like Appiah.

Fractured
can't you see my hands are clean
I'm as holy as can be
I will never do you harm
I am fractured
it can't ever be the same
can't you see my hands
are clean
can't you see,
I'm as holy as can be
what kind of life is this?
what kind of life is this?
can't you see my hands are clean,
can't you see, i'm as holy as can be
I'll never do you harm again,
I am fractured,
it can never be the same
what kind of...
i warned you a thousand times
it's like crying to the clouds
and why are you asking me,
questions you already know the answer to,
can't you see,
my hands are clean
what kind of...

Clean
Today, everything was fine fine fine
Until roundabout quarter to 9, suddenly I found myself in a bind, a bind
Was it something I said
Something I read
And manifest thats getting you down
Dont you dare come to bed with that ambiguous look in your eye
Id sooner sleep by an open fire and wake up fried
Say what u will
Say what u mean
No, you could never offend
Your dirty words come out clean, clean
Tomorrow, what price will I pay
Could I make it all up to you by serving coffee for two in bed, would you then give me
The time of day
I need a map of your head, translated into english so I can learn to not make you frown
Feel better if you vent, put your frustrations into four letter words and let them out on
Mine
The most weathered ears in town!
Say what u will
Say what u mean
No, you could never offend
Your dirty words come out clean
Clean (x6)
Say what u will
Say what u mean
No, you could never offend
Your dirt words come out clean
Say what u will
Say what u mean
No, you could never offend
Your dirty words come out clean, clean

Total Body Stone
All week
the martyr
martyred himself
with work.
Thus when holy Friday came
he finally stones himself
with a stoning attaining
purely spiritual proportions.
Like faithful Stephen
he aspires to a state;
where one day Christ
will receive his spirit.
As he faithfully servant endeavours
to do Lord Jehovah’s scripture work;
striving for symbolic baptism day.
When sin will be washed clean away.
When the greedy malicious evil
will be washed clean
accepting sacrifice blood of Jesus.
When they will cleansed love
common ordinary people
like you and me. Blessed then be.
“And they went on casting
stones at Stephen as
he made appeal and said:
“Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
Then, bending his knees,
he cried out in a strong voice:
“Jehovah, do not
charge this sin against them.”
And after saying this
he fell asleep [in death].”
Acts 7: 59-60.
