Today I Shine
From the struggles of yesterday, today I shine
I have climbed from the ghetto that had me blind.
I was scorned by the curse of black stereotype
But my life has changed and today I shine
Just like the Diamonds of Africa,
Today I shine
I would not look back at my dark past,
Its lessons have taught me a whole new path,
A path though rough, the end is clear
Because my life has changed and today I shine,
Just like the Diamonds of Africa,
Today I shine.
I am stronger today than yesterday,
Because I'm on my feet, not on my knees
I have a voice and I would speak out
Because my life has changed and today I shine,
Just like the Diamonds of Africa,
Today I shine.
I have traded my rags for brand new robes
No more begging or free-loading.
When I walk in the court, you'll hear "All rise! "
That's because my life has changed and today I shine,
Just like the Diamonds of Africa
Today I shine.
Today I am what my ancestors couldn't be
A judge in the court as you all now see,
One thing I know, my conscience is free
I will always hand down a fair penalty.
That's because my life has changed and today I shine
Just like the Diamonds of Africa
Today I shine.

Rise Up
rise up and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
we've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up
Everybody's come a long long way
such a long way ,to be here today
we're going hard ,giving it all
we've been knocking on wood with our backs to the walls
we've been working every day and night
waiting for the chance for the day to arrive
and now we've all got something to prove
win or lose, there's only one thing to do
We've got to rise up
and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up
Inside the sweat, inside the heat
in each and every heart there's a pounding beat
to do it wrong, to do it right
each of us has put up, one hell of a fight
and as we face the final test
all that we can do is to do our best
and as we're making time stand still
to get to the top you've got to give all you've got
You've got to rise up
and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up
Shine a light and let them see
everything you want to be
Shine a light and let them know
you are never letting go
Rise up... win or lose there's only one thing to do
We've got to rise up
and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up
Rise, and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up, rise up,
over higher mountains, rise,
We've got to rise up.

After Today
Woo
Thaaa
Thaaa
Always in trouble
Never to blame
Must be a double
You are the same
Here it comes again
Doing the wrong thing
Forgetting your li..ines
Waiting for something better to shine
Take that same okay
After today, fortune man will find you
After today, they will find you working
After today, youll find the ones youre after
After today, look out, after today
What kind of rescue?
What will you be?
Where can you take it, baby boy? for me
Break that heart for me
After today, the fortune fan will find you
After today, they will fly you away
After today, youll find the one youre after
After today, look out, after today
After today, the fortune fan will find you
After today, they will fly you away
After today, youll find the one youre after
After today, look out, after today
Today
After today
After toda-ay, hey
Look out, after today
Ah, yeah
Look, ah (laughter)
(spoken : I was gettin in to that)
(laughter)

The Sun will shine Today
The sun will shine today.
Though late the night has been,
Through paths so darkened and gloomy
Not for the similitude of our hope
Or a semblance in cavalcade rush
We waited too long for this
No worse than these shall sway
The hopes so high within
The sun will shine today,
The rain will follow with abundance,
Drops so many in eyen of anticipation,
Come as together in this circle with unison and hope,
Holding forth for the blessing yet to come
That we all may say together chasing our doubts and fear
The sun will rise again,
Yes, the sun will shine today.

Distant Voices
I never thought i'd get away
cause all there is is fading fast today
maybe you sleep well in your head
bring on the night let the cold moon burn
instead
cause i'm gonna find my way to the sun
if i destroy myself
swallowing habits die real hard
and the coat she wore could not conceal
the scars
beneath the magic of her lace
are a thousand lonely faces she can't
place
cos i'm gonna find my way to the sun
if i destroy myself
i can shine on
i'm gonna find my way to the sun
when i destroy myself
i can shine on
shine
sooner or later maturbate or lose
stationary west way running from the view
in true the self destructive veins
we have found a way to keep the gifts that
maims
cause i'm gonna find my way to the sun
if i destroy myself i can move on
i'm gonna find my way to the sun
if i destroy myself i can shine on
shine
i'm gonna find my way to the sun
if i destroy myself i can shine on

Dare To Dream
(paul begaud/vanessa corish/wayne tester)
I am my own believer
In my heart the reason
I will follow the light from within
Im not afraid of weakness
Im gonna taste the sweetness
Of the power not to give in
Oh I will see it through
I believe this is my moment of truth
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
Dare to dream
I will go the distance
Embrace resistance
I will lay my soul on the line
When the wait is over
And the hunger has spoken
If I give my all,i will shine
Oh I will see it through
I believe, this is my moment of truth
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
Dare to dream,oh
And the heart will shine like the sun
A million voices together as one
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
(find the strength to set my spirit free)
Find the strength to do what I believe
(I believe)
Dare to dream
Dare to dream

Shine
everyone knows
that im 10 feet under
til you come along and brighten my day
everyone knows that you killed the thunder
roaring in my brain
is giving me the strength
to see right thru the haze
shine come on and let it shine
light me up make me feel alive
you got what it takes
shine for me today
shine and only you know how
to lift my spirit off the ground
and chase those clouds away
shine on me today
when everythings wrong
i just pick the phone up
the sound of your voice
well it feels my eyes
with tears of joy because i know you'll be there
when im hangin by a thread
your my heaven sent
shine come on and let it shine
light me up make me feel alive
you got what it takes
shine for me today
shine only you know how
to lift my spirit off the ground
and chase those clouds away
and you have this way of makin me feel like i can fly
you underneath my wings
so i dont free fall out of the sky
your always there to save me
ya know you save me
shine come on and let it shine
light me up make me feel alive
you got what it takes
shine for me today
shine only you know how
to lift my spirit off the ground
and chase those clouds away
shine on me today
come on and shine
shine on me shine on me
shine
shine
shine
shine on me today
everyone knows that im 10 feet under
right in my world

Shine
Rain drain my play away
Sun gun me down and burn me
Nature hates me today
My head distorts reality
Madness just moved into my shadow
Shine - I will not cry and I will not die no
Shine - I will be there for me
Shine - I will not cry and I will be mine
Ill shine - shine
Who waltzed me into this
And I now stuck here forever
Luck just gave me a kiss
Then lashed me down with a leather strap
Trying to learn to swim without any water
Trying just to begin just when youre in for the slaughter
Shine - I will not cry and I will not die no
Shine - I will be there for me
Shine - ill be just fine if I stay all mine
Ill shine - shine,
You will love me as a winner
Why?

In Praise of a Sonnet
(this is not a true sonnet)
A sonnet, in classical form a charm
soft as sun dawn, it wakens spirit love
calling you, wanting you, it takes your arm
and whisks you away on wings of a dove.
There it holds you with its perfect meter
lullabying with it’s iambic tone.
Nothing does compare or could be sweeter
than the dance of love as poets have shown.
So take my hand and let us dance today
with these magic words penned so long ago.
We shall taste them, taste them without delay,
so succulent it makes our souls to glow.
A sonnet, lovingly given… hold tight
As dawn’s first light makes your spirit take flight.
Three Sunrises
Spirit of the rising sun lift me up
Hold me there and never let me fall
Love me til I die, my heart wont wait
Soon I will be loved...
In this love song, love
Love song, love song
Hey, hey, love wont find
Find its own way home
In this love song, love
Love, love song
Sun shine, sun shine on me
Sun shine, sun shine on me
In this love song, love
Love song, love song
Hey, hey, love wont find
Find its own way home
In this love song, love song
Love song, love song
Sun shine on me
Bring it through to my heart
I would give you everything
I will give you my desire
Sun shine, sunshine on me
Sun shine, sunshine on me

(I Could Never) Give You Up
I've been hiding,
lost in the love of another.
I've followed the moon and a song
and I thought it would take me forever
to find a place where I belong.
I watch a rainbow rise.
I give you all I've got.
I could never give you up,
the way you make my love shine.
I could never give you up,
the way you make true love shine.
I believe you
when you say you don't want to be lonely.
I'll carry your heart like a bridge
when you need all the time you can find
to get the hurt out of your mind.
I'll watch the rain go by and give you all I've got.
Cause I could never give you up...

Its An Insect Thing
The clamor
The cry
The call
The fight is on
What's in the ceilings, corners and cabinets
It's time to shine
Shine in the mud and the puddles
It's time to get torn and dirty
The rain won't come again
Break through the cocoon
No more hideouts now
It's time to shine
Shine with wounds open like windows overlooking the sea of agony and pain
It's time to rip through the swarm and rise in the open sky
Feel the air and wait till it rains again
It's time to rise
Rise above all

Shine, Shine, Shine
And now the day is over
And the shadows start to grow
The sun has done us well today
In flaming crimson he explodes
And bursts of million colours
That spill across the sky
I turn and look at you love
And I know the reason why
Such a long time
Like good wine
Getting better every day
Now you know, Ill never go
So youll always stay
And our love will keep on shining
Through the wind and the rain
And when the day is over
Our love will shine again
And as the years fly over
Im feeling younger every day
The love that you have given me
Is more than I can say
Shine, shine, shine

Today I Think It Would Be Fun
Today i think it would be fun
to go and get a machine gun
today i think i really will
find some nice targets just to kill
today i'll let my anger rise
and when i shoot look in their eyes
today i think will be the same
i'll just play that computer game.

Groundhogs Day
When I woke up this mornin I felt a pang.
I was hungerin for some apple pie.
Stumble in the bathroom, hung my hog a little bit.
Washed the sleep out of my eye.
Oh yeah, its gonna be a fine day.
Scratched myself a bit.
Poured me out a bowl-a corn chex.
Closest thing I could find to apple pie.
Lingerin taste of toothpaste
Made the milk go down a bit funny.
But you know, them chex they do satisfy.
Oh yeah, thisll be a fine day.
So, after my mornin rise-n-shine and eat-n-clean.
Had my mind set to hit them streets.
Drizzle from the night left cold puddles out.
Had my black stomp-boots on my feet.
Its my day.
Since I was in kneepants my pop had tried to make me realize. if i
Set my mind down to it I could be a big man in the public eye. so
With my big blue collar on, I set out to find the easy way. what an
Ice cold bath it was when I found you had to pay to play. to taste
The taste its a tease that never would subside. the taste is strong
But soured by my learned eyes. well, if a woodchuck could chuck wood,
Hed get down on his knees to pray. this little snappy boy might see
The light this ground hogs day.

Star Bright
Star bright, first star I see tonight
Could you oh would you please shine your light
Shine it so I can see, my savior smilin at me
Star bright, I hear you once proclaimed
This is the way, keep on followin me
And at the end of the road will be, a baby
And there, in him youll find, a love that is truly blind
Given so from your heart that love that light, could shine
Shine, shine, shine, shine
Star bright, first star they saw that night
I am aware that this love is for me
And the greatest of gifts is free
Yet my heart of hearts is heavy
Star bright, if I give you my hand
Could you oh would you please see me through
I would love to take my heart blue, and give it to you
And there, in my heart youll find, a love that is truly blind
Given to me, so that I could let my, light shine
Shine, shine, shine, shine,
Star bright
Star bright, star bright, star bright
Star bright, star bright
Shine your light

Rise And Shine
A baby in a manger, the town of Bethlehem
The wise men had the heart to know He was the great I Am
They crossed the desert many miles to kneel down at His feet
The star that led them seemed to tell them what had come to be
The Son's gonna rise and shine
Make the lame walk, the deaf talk, and give sight back to the blind.
Bring a light into the darkness no one can deny
As sure as there's a heaven, the Son's gonna rise and shine
At the age of thirty-three, the prophecy fulfilled
On the cross at Calvary His blood for man was spilled
The sky was black as midnight, but 'neath the dark and gloom
Voices rang and angels sang dancing 'round the tomb
The Sons's gonna rise and shine
He'll take away the keys of death, the grave will loose its bind
Hell will be defeated in three days of time
On resurrection morning, the Son's gonna rise and shine
It's been two thousand years, but the story's still the same
For those who will believe in Him and call upon His name
The Son's gonna rise and shine
Heal the sick, raise the dead, the Savior of mankind
The day will soon be dawning will be the end of time
King of kings, Lord of lords, The Son's gonna rise and shine
Jesus, Son of Glory will save your soul and mine
Brother are you ready, the Son's gonna rise and shine.

Shine
Writer Roland Edgar Eugene Jr.
Gimme a word, gimme a sign
Show me where to look
And tell me what will I find
What will I find
Lay me on the ground
Fly me in the sky
Show me where to look
And tell me what will I find
What will I find
Yeah, oh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine
Love is in the water
Love is in the air
Show me where to go
And tell me will love be there
Will love be there
Teach me how to speak
Teach me how to share
Teach me where to go
And tell me will love be there
Will love be there
Yeah, oh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine
Gimme a word, gimme a sign
Show me where to look
And tell me what will I find
What will I find
Lord, teach me how to speak
Teach me how to share
Teach me where to go
And tell me will love be there
Will love be there
Yeah, oh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine down, ohh
Heaven let your light shine
Oh, heaven let your light shine down
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
Heaven let your light shine down
Let it shine
Heaven let your light shine down
Shine, heaven let your light shine down
Heaven let your light shine down
Shine, shine
Just gimme a word
Gimme a sign, shine
Let it shine, let it shine
Teach me how to share
Teach me where to go
Tell me will love be there, shine

Today
Yesterday, just a dream i don't remember
Tomorrow, still a hope i've yet to endure
I'm out of time
I'm out of rhyme
I'm out of reason
Season's change and leave me out in the cold
The story's old
The tale been told by many scholars
Got a fistful of dollar
And a pocketful of love
God above if you hear me cryin'
I've tried to sell my soul
But no one's buyin'
Lord, strike me down now if i'm lyin'
It's gettin' cold
It's time for dyin.
Chorus
Come on and watch me shine
Like the world is mine (check it out) today
Come on and watch me shine (check it out)
Like the world is mine today
Watch me shine (check it out)
Let the man who's free from sin
Cast the first stone and begin the violence
Let the man whose words ring true
Speak on up till his voice breaks through the silence
Let the ones who lose their way
Live to see just one more day in the sunshine
Let the ones who choose to stray
Recognize the price they'll pay
In their lifetime
Chorus
Come on and watch me shine
Like the world is mine (check it out) today
Come on and watch me shine (check it out)
Like the world is mine today
Watch me shine (check it out)
Sittin here waitin' for my roads to cross
You nail me down and you watch me bleed
So lay my head against the earth
Plant my body like a seed
You can't always get the things you want, love (check it out)
You get what you deserve
Or maybe what you need
So fill my hole with precious dirt, love
Till the soil and plant the weed
Chorus
Come on and watch me shine
Like the world is mine (check it out) today
Come on and watch me shine (check it out)
Like the world is mine today
Watch me shine (check it out)
