I wish I could be like Shaw who once read a bad review of one of his plays, called the critic and said: 'I have your review in front of me and soon it will be behind me.'

Book
If I write a book,
Would I approach
You to write its
Review?
Why?
If my book is
Worth reading,
Wouldn't you be
Tempted to write
Its review?
Why should I
Use you for its
Marketing and
Publicity?
If you like my book,
You'll yourself feel like
Sharing with everybody
It's an instinct
That comes
Naturally…
We believe in
Loving and giving,
And so if we genuinely
Like something,
We'll recommend it
Or choose it for gifting
So if I write a book,
I'll never beseech you
To write its review
I would rather wait
For you to feel free
To read it and perhaps
Write its review…

Praise and criticism seem to me to operate exactly on the same level. If you get a great review, it's really thrilling for about ten minutes. If you get a bad review, it's really crushing for ten minutes. Either way, you go on.

To Be A Known Writer
Be your writings inferior.
Hire a critic to review.
Pay media to advertise.
Spend for marketing
You'll have been a writer,
Renowned and well known.

From my close observation of writers...they fall into two groups 1) those who bleed copiously and visibly at any bad review, and 2) those who bleed copiously and secretly at any bad review.

Review My Kisses
Im only happy when Im with you
I only feel good when Im talking to you
& Im a mess when you dont call me
Call me at night
Where did you go
Where did you go
And did you think of me
Its hard to breathe
& my heart is sinking
Im slipping fast
& Im reaching for you
Its gonna hurt cause
I have been there before
Cant take much more
Cant take another night
Without you beside me
I want to review my kisses
On every inch of your body
I want to reveal my secrets
That only you should know
I feel all this pain inside of me
That only your lips can make better
I wanna review my kisses
So you wont forget that you are mine
Dont wanna care more than you do
Dont wanna be the 1 whos out in the rain
Dont wanna get that
Call where you sound so cold
So far away, so far away
Like the distant roll of thunder
I want to review my kisses
On every inch of your body
I want to reveal my secrets
That only you should know
I feel all this pain inside of me
That only your lips can make better
I wanna review my kisses
So you wont forget that you are mine
Its a cave in the darkness
And Im lost inside you
Dont go
I want to review my kisses
On every inch of your body
I want to reveal my secrets
That only you should know
I feel like a childless mother
Longing to hold her baby
If I could review my kisses
Then you wont forget that you are mine

Life Review. fot J.T, Ellison
When you grow old as you must do
and you look backward to review.
The way that life has treated you
Where you have been, what you’ve achieved.
The blessings given and received.
a great deal more than you believed.
I think you find you are impressed
You know you’ve always done your best
and you have earned the right to rest.
No longer part of the rat race
You live your life at your own pace.
Perhaps you can accept with grace
When you conclude your life review.
You’ve done what you were meant to do.

Mary Street
(s. hoffs/v. peterson)
Susanna & vicki
Times up girl now
No more excusing you
And those books you read
Oh girl, you better review
Oh oh oh, mary street
Looking out your door
Oh oh oh, mary street
Now what are you waiting for (what are you waiting for)
You thought that cool
Was in someone elses shoes and makeup
Sitting in your room
Waiting for the moment to come
Oh oh oh, mary street
Looking out your door
Oh oh oh, mary street
Now what are you waiting for (what are you waiting for)
You got no tears for
All the guys who passed you by
All the girls who shut you out
They wont recognize you now
Youre a good girl now
No more excusing you
And those books you read
Oh girl, you better review
Oh oh oh, mary street
Looking out your door
Oh oh oh, mary street
Now what are you waiting for (what are you waiting for)
Oh oh oh, mary street
Looking out your door
Oh oh oh, mary street
Oh yeah, oh yeah

I thought, well I can do that. I couldn't be bothered writing a book review, because I'd have to read the book, I haven't got time to read a whole book for a fifty dollar write-up.

The Royal Review
All hail to the Empress of India, Great Britain's Queen--
Long may she live in health, happy and serene--
That came from London, far away,
To review the Scottish Volunteers in grand array:
Most magnificent to be seen,
Near by Salisbury Crags and its pastures green,
Which will long be remembered by our gracious Queen--
And by the Volunteers, that came from far away,
Because it rain'd most of the day.
And with the rain their clothes were wet all through,
On the 25th day of August, at the Royal Review.
And to the Volunteers it was no lark,
Because they were ankle deep in mud in the Queen's Park,
Which proved to the Queen they were loyal and true,
To ensure such hardships at the Royal Review.
Oh! it was a most beautiful scene
To see the Forfarshire Artillery matching past the Queen:
Her Majesty with their steady marching felt content,
Especially when their arms to her they did present.
And the Inverness Highland Volunteers seemed verygran',
And marched by steady to a man
Amongst the mud without dismay,
And the rain pouring down on them all the way.
And the bands they did play, God Save the Queen,
Near by Holyrood Palace and the Queen's Park so green.
Success to our noble Scottish Volunteers!
I hope they will be spared for many long years,
And to Her Majesty always prove loyal and true,
As they have done for the second time at the Royal Review.
To take them in general, they behaved very well,
The more that the rain fell on them pell-mell.
They marched by Her Majesty in very grand array,
Which will be remembered for many a long day,
Bidding defiance to wind and rain,
Which adds the more fame to their name.
And I hope none of them will have cause to rue
The day that they went to the Royal Review.
And I'm sure Her Majesty ought to feel proud,
And in her praise she cannot speak too loud,
Because the more that it did rain they did not mourn,
Which caused Her Majesty's heart with joy to burn,
Because she knew they were loyal and true
For enduring such hardships at the Royal Review.

Poetic Swedes in Outer Space Sensation
Did you see today's news headline?
'Swedes Beam Poetry into Outer Space'
it takes 25 years to get to Vega
and the review comes back 50 years after writing it.
so get your kids to start right now
and in 50 years time the review comes back
when they're 60 years old
saying
'This poetry reads like a ten-year-old's...
is that the best you humans can manage
after all these years? '
space-time has its problems

Views change
What you see, hear or read add to your thoughts.
They mix with old thoughts and modify them.
What you say, act or write are their products.
That is why you constantly review your views.

I remember I read this harsh review about my show, and one of my friends told me that this was the exact same stuff people said about Madonna. And it's like, she didn't care. Madonna just came out and was herself. I respect that a lot.

Let's Review The Inventory
Back up!
Let's review the inventory.
It is not okay,
For you to create...
What you believe takes place,
In my life.
Without an invoice or evidence,
To prove you have taken stock...
Of how I live and apply,
My ongoing activities.
But others perceive,
You to be a person of tact.
And I find that laughable.
Now...
If you wish to address,
Me personally...
With your issues.
I would suggest you do that.
To prevent your own embarrassment.
Before it is exposed you are way off track.
Back up!
Let's review the inventory.
You have made claims,
Released to speak about me...
As if they were facts.
But nothing I've supplied,
Promotes your stabbing me in my back.
Unless you seek with me a confrontation?
And verbal attacks to satisfy a shouting match,
I have long left to explore the benefits of maturity.
And plenty of that I will upon you unpack!

Not Just A Bad Review
We’d not have had a Tisha B’av or Holocaust
if they’d just given us a bad review,
but we’ve been killed by them, not just divorced:
that’s what we mean by “hard to be a Jew”.
The Arabs say we are the favorite folk
of which they wish to be entirely rid;
unfortunately this is not a joke:
it’s still true that it’s shver tsu sayn a yid.
Kenneth Turan, senior movie critic for the LA Times, addressing an audience at UCLA today, was asked whether he thought the role of Jews has historically been fairly represented in Hollywood movies. He replied that it was impossible to do so. “After all, ” he said, “historically Jews haven’t just got bad reviews. I wish that were all that they’ve received.”
