With our work at Kazaa, we began seeing growing broadband connections and more powerful computers and more streaming multimedia, and we saw that the traditional way of communicating by phone no longer made a lot of sense.

Growing up human is uniquely a matter of social relations rather than biology. What we learn from connections within the family takes the place of instincts that program the behavior of animals; which raises the question, how good are these connections?

Poetry for the People rests upon a belief that the art of telling the truth is a necessary and a healthy way to create powerful, and positive, connections among people who, otherwise, remain (unknown and unaware) strangers. The goal is not to kill connections but, rather, to create and to deepen them among truly different men and women.

One of the problems with computers, particularly for the older people, is they were befuddled by them, and the computers have gotten better. They have gotten easier to use. They have gotten less expensive. The software interfaces have made things a lot more accessible.

That's the new way - with computers, computers, computers. That's the way we can have the cell survive and get some new information in high resolution. We started about five years ago and, today, I think we have reached the target.

There is a computer disease that anybody who works with computers knows about. It's a very serious disease and it interferes completely with the work. The trouble with computers is that you 'play' with them!

Too Patient
When I began to weed through,
My priority list...
I saw some things on it,
That no longer exist.
I had placed people,
Who I considered friends on this list.
And for years they had been on it...
Doing and saying things to me as they wished.
Some don't speak to me.
But my name is on their lips.
When I began to weed through,
My priority list...
I saw some things on it,
That should not on my list exist!
Very few on my priority list,
Have me on their agenda.
And if they do,
I'm sure it's for fun, sport and gossip.
When I began to weed through,
My priority list...
I saw some things on it,
I couldn't not explain...
Why some names had hearts near them.
Did I do that?
Did I draw them in?
I use to dropp every and anything,
To be at someone's aide.
Some people I would call everyday...
Just to see if they were okay.
I've even allowed my own work to be submitted...
So folks could get their college degrees.
Joking about this,
I am not!
I have been the subject of innuendos and lies,
As if my life meant nothing at all.
To leave me to walk around with 'my' pain disguised.
Then I awakened and realized.
I am considered a fool!
Today...
When I began to weed through,
My priority list...
I saw some things on it,
That no longer exist.
And wondered to myself 'WHY'...
Is this stuff still 'there'.
Get rid of it!
This makes no sense.
Why do you have these people's lives,
Prioritized?
'That is being too patient!
Fix this and get this done quick! '
I have moments when I am completely rational.

Every Little Thing She Does
Freshman year mama asked waht do you wanna
do when you get out of here.
i said well gee, i'm only 13, but i think i'd like to play my guitar
be a star
She well thats not it you got some time to go
good sense will kick in any time you know.
i'm not worried, i'm not worried
Softmore year she asked the same old thing,
my answer had remained unchanged
i saw her fidgit with her thumbs,
she said you like computers John, you like computers don't you
you see i always see with a computer you like computers
maybee you could do something with computers yea wouldn't that be nice
Junior year, its a little more tense she says,
what do you want to do with your life?
i'm not on the fence i know exactly what i am to be
and i'm only 17.
she well all i ask is that you pay attention in class,
so if you happen to xhange your mind in time you can still go
so where reputible, do us proud.
so i went down stairs and played the guitar loud.
yea and senior its the same old question
she said what you wanna do?
i said play my guitar and sing, she said theres no such thing,
she said thers no such thing

Not Into Abstract Pictures Painted
There are those who wish to make sense,
In an attempt to make that process meant...
And meaningful.
But their lack of experience to get a point across,
Leaves those misunderstanding...
What is the intention if communicating a thought,
Is a statement made.
'Assuming' it,
Has been clearly delivered to receive a response...
From someone not into abstract pictures painted.
Or statemements made disconnected from rhyme,
Purpose OR reason.

Universal Religion
Your forefathers great
lived in huts or caves
wearing rags and barks
and roaming like dogs.
But you are in flats.
Your grandmothers
wore bangles of ironand copper.
But the Japanese now
dared to make 'bras'
worth eight and a half crores.
Once People went by
rumbling noisy slow carts.
But now they fly in cars
and flights laugh at distance.
Your parents heard songs from
valve radios and then transistors.
But you play now on a keyboard
as you have multimedia computers.
Once you began to rely on
the Vedhas, Bible, Koran, Grandha, ...
But still you bear one in a hand
and a gun in the other to scare.
When people of all the cults
live side by side in this world,
you don't have a broad mind
to merge them into a single,
simple, peace preaching holy book.
A lone prophet in ancient days
got light to design a cult for his clan.
But several prophets sit idle in UNO
without finding a religion universal.

Man is not a machine... Although man most certainly processes information, he does not necessarily process it in the way computers do. Computers and men are not species of the same genus... However much intelligence computers may attain, now or in the furture, theirs must always be an intelligence alien to genuine human problems and concerns.

Users
Go to the computers and hail the users,
Their programs are unique according to the losers.
Here inside the mini-computers are super works,
Then work yourself with boldness like clerks.
Go to those with the profession that hurts,
A body of ice married us to the water-alerts.
A computer will correct us from the snow,
This machine works, this world is to know.

The Wal Mart Foot
I drove to Wal mart the other day
When I parked and got right out
A woman with a little girl
Began to cry and shout
“There’s a foot hanging out
Of a car right over there, ”
She pointed nearly hysterical
So of course I began to stare
My husband started to walk away
When I grabbed his arm and said
“Don’t leave now, look over there
Looks like somebody’s dead”
“It’s not real, ” he said with a glance
The woman’s cell phone was at her ear
“Oh yes it is, she said emphatically
“It is exactly what I feared”
My husband, brave as he can be
Walked over and grabbed right on
“See, it’s just a rubber foot”
He reached for the lady’s cell phone
“Lady, It’s not an emergency, ”
He said right in the phone to 911
'It’s a rubber foot this lady saw, '
And handed her back the phone
I know that there are many times
We don’t see what we think you see
But when I looked at the hole in that car
It looked like a foot jutting out to me!

Broadband
By this time of trouble and hatred,
On this day of love and passion,
With this hour of war and death,
But i have my mind still on you;
For truth backs up the facts and love crowns the day,
And i am lying on my bed lonely to write this poem.
Broadband of words and the broadband of views,
With the readers on line to catch up with my mind;
But how can we break this cycle of hatred around us?
Hatred, war and sickness;
I have connected my life to reach out to the realms! !
But, who will be on my side?

Anything Good On The Telly?
I was happier with one channel
A long, long time ago...
To watch, record and plan all
The programmes it would show...
Along came 2 and 3 and 4
And then came number 5...
And after that, Sky brought us more,
For me and for the wife...
We then got Virgin Media,
With TV, Broadband, phone...
And then my wife got greedier,
So we took out a loan...
I got a brand new aerial
And climbed up on the roof...
I fell off and the wounds won't heal,
I also broke a tooth...
At last we're getting Freeview
And so we cancelled Sky...
We dropped Virgin Media, too...
And one whole month passed by...
September's retune wasn't good
For neighbours in our street...
Now no-one in the neighbourhood
Gets Freeview, once so sweet.
We've all been told we must upgrade
From boxes that went wrong...
And throw away the ones they made
That didn't work for long...
So off I went to try again
For bargains I could find...
Some boxes were beyond my ken
And put me in a bind...
December's retune's on its way...
God knows what happens next!
I think I'll wait till Christmas Day,
So I won't get perplexed!
I might return to Sky, who knows?
I'll have to wait and see...
I could get lucky, I suppose...
And win the lottery!
