I had to think long and hard about what it would imply, what it would mean. Would it mean any alterations of one's lifestyle? Or, more than that, the way that people regarded you? The way they reacted to you if you had a Sir in front of your name?

In Front Of Me
It's hard to breathe, from underneath
Smothering in all your heat
It's hard to take, It's tough to break
So I don't make the same mistakes
The same mistake, (4x)
Out in the yard is where I play,
Don't come in cause I'm afraid
You saw my face, I faced my friends
Do I tell or just pretend?
I found a friend, a friend who knows
Who says he'll help but then he goes
And then he goes (4x)
In front of me, In front of me, so far from me, yeah, yeah
I'm in the way, the way it goes, so go away, yeah, yeah
In front of me, In front of me, so far from me, yeah, yeah
Fingernails, filled with dirt
If you don't tell, you don't get hurt
I cry for help, I pray to God
Another tear he tries to rob
To rob me of, my dignity
Cause sanctuary's far from me
Far from me (4x)
In front of me, In front of me, so far from me, yeah, yeah
I'm in the way, the way it goes, so go away, yeah, yeah
It's hard to take, a piece of me, so peacefully, yeah, yeah
In front of me, In front of me, so far from me, yeah, yeah
So broke inside, don't run away
And find another place to stay
And make our inhibition go away
Because I'm so afraid, yeah, yeah
It's hard to breathe, from underneath
Smothering in all your heat
It's hard to take, It's tough to break
So I don't make the same mistakes
In front of me, In front of me, so far from me, yeah, yeah
I'm in the way, the way it goes, so go away, yeah, yeah
It's hard to take, a piece of me, so peacefully, yeah, yeah
In front of me, In front of me, so far from me, yeah, yeah

I think I can take responsibility for that in that I was the audience. I was the voice of sanity around whom all these crazies did their dance. And I reacted in the same way that a member of the audience would have reacted.

Conversion
It is a conversion
In to a superbrand
Meant for the rich
Meant for the mighty
Nothing to worry
You can get a
Luxurious lifestyle
At the cost of poor
Whom you consider
Insects and cattle
And you regarded them
Not fit to live.

Little Of It Will Be Done

Little of it will be done.
And those who choose to do it...
Will not be embraced or regarded favorably.

To be a super power
Who fears you in front
Will hate you behind.
Who praises you in front
Will abuse you behind.
Who pleases you in front
Will avoid you behind.
Why should you strive hard
To become a man of power?

Too Raw To Eat
Picked over like a piece of meat
Nibbled and a little bit uneasy
Difficult it is to please
Somebody who prefers
The taste of cake
Without the cheese
Picked over like forbidden fruit
From a garden stomped over with people
I want to be the one who leaves
A deliciousness to tease
But I've been regarded
Too raw to eat.
Picked over like a piece of meat
Nibbled and a little bit uneasy
Difficult it is to please
Somebody who prefers
The taste of cake
Without the cheese
Picked over like forbidden fruit
From a garden stomped over with people
I want to be the one who leaves
A deliciousness to tease
But I've been regarded
Too raw to eat
Picked over like a piece of meat
But I've been regarded
Too raw to eat
Picked over like a piece of meat
But I've been regarded
Too raw to eat
Picked over like a piece of meat
But I have been regarded
Too raw to eat

Irom Sharmila, My Daughter
I see people eating
in front of shopping-malls
I see people eating
in front of reality shows
I see people eating
in front of cinema-halls
Only IROM, my daughter,
hematophobic,
hasn't eaten ten years
for only she knowseating
to be homicide
when bread is dipped in read...

Shame
Now there's a lifestyle
With painted lips
Now there's a lifestyle
Everybody wants it
But it don't exist
And I said shame...
In the dancehalls and the cinema
Shame
On the TV and the media
Shame
We loved you
Now there's a lifestyle
With fashion chic
Now there's a lifestyle
Everybody in it wants
To be elite
And I said
'You with yer brand new shoes and
You with yer greasy hair and
You with yer mother's pride and poetry
Don't you want to feel the shame?"...
In the dancehalls
Can't you feel the shame?
And the TV
Can't you feel the shame?
We loved you...
Shame
In the dancehalls and the cinema
Shame
On the TV and the media
Shame
We loved you
At the Lido and the opera
Shame
At the races
And the theatre
Shame
We loved you.
And they said all we need is love
All we need is love
With the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
Day after day
Day after day.

The Train Leaving the Station
It starts slow, works hard, to pull the wight
Of all the freight
Train
Of thoght
So slow don't know if it will leave the station
At all,
Ever
Now
Or if it has left before
People have sat in front of this train
Wondering where it will go
The long hours it plows from city to city
From coast to coast
What is my destination?
What do you read in my face?
The freights are old
This train belongs to the people of the city
Graffiti
A familiar face
A shout out to let you know that
I am here
The people are here
This train belongs to the people of the city

We suddenly saw how people reacted in the event of massive social upheaval, and the way that the little problems in your life don't go away. You don't stop being frightened of spiders just because the world's blown up.

Killing Myself....
So many people in my life have died,
they have taken their own lives...we cried.
I stumble around in my mind,
depth...
I'm trying to find.
So many things to be overcame,
no..not me to blame.
To find the depth of what people think,
to let my heart,
sink......
I know that people will suffer if I die,
all I can do is cry.....
but when life is put in my face,
even though...
a disgrace..
I wonder, what would I miss...
years go on,
some...with sweetness.
My life is hard right now..
always putting one foot in front of the other....
I think of my friends that lean on me,
the doubt, the worry....
So instead of going away from the life I dread,
I AM GOING TO PUT ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER....instead!
I hate u...memories that haunt....
go ahead,
you can taught,
I know its my soul you want....
BUT FOR ME...I CAN NEVER HAUNT! ! ! ! !
Although I'm weak right now...
no future...
without no how....
To My Destiny...I bow! ! ! ! ! !
Unnecessary, Enemic, Worthless and Outdated
Answers to questions simply asked,
More often than not...
Make less sense.
With an uninvited complexity.
Than those questions revealed.
A basicness intended,
Most of the time uncovers a gross incompetence.
With a negligence that is accepted.
And by some rule of substandardization...
A preferred ritual of common practice.
Which can, if left unmonitored...
Eliminate correctness altogether.
And the time consuming affects,
A brain processing thought may endure.
Well...
At least one that has potential
To connect understanding with comprehension.
And ignore those who imply this as a wasted activity.
Regarded as unnecessary, enemic, worthless...
And outdated.

Church going
I hear voices singing inside
and notice big signs asking for silence
in the foyer
for when respect is lacking,
but groups of people, mainly women
stand in the entrance whispering loudly
and when I walk in
people are in their suits, best dresses
with hair done to the newest style
and almost every eye follows me
with my leather jacket, motorcycle helmet
in my hand
and formal pants as if trying to see
why I am different.
I take a backbench, just in front of the one
marked for mothers with babies
and the wood is hard and uncomfortable
probably to keep churchgoers awake
right through a monotonous sermon.
With the congregation I kneel down to pray
and the elder makes a long drawn out preach
of it and I feel
some kids still staring at me
and through slightly opened eyes see them looking,
whispering and indicating to each other.
At the front, at the holy end a woman plays the piano
and another plays along with the organ
while the congregation stand in song
and I listen intently to the minister
preaching about the love of God,
see an old man with a bold head
falling asleep in front of me,
his wife hitting him with the elbow
in the ribs every now and then,
a small girl colouring pictures
with different crayons
and just after the last song walk out
before the people gather in cliques
and are the first to take to the road
with my motorbike.

A tortoise
the tortoise is just inadequate
she has been treating
the same way everyone
of another kind
a supercilious front
to shroud weaknesses
broadcasting insouciance
with a hard hard shell
she knows she has a birthright
a hard headed advantage
with its shell signed
with letters from heaven
nobody is allowed even to knock on
it, protected species
here she is behaving in ways
that turn people away
without even knowing why
ten thousand years from now
she would be still in her same state
and behaving the same way
one big curvy hard hard shell
as the world shuttles to a new sphere
poor tortoise! poor tortoise!

I Will Have To Work Hard
I will have to work hard
I will have to work hard
This world is a mischief, full of hazards
I can not sleep, i may not be in the womb
A dream is nourishing, smoldering like a bomb
People are racing towards a dark cave
This dream is heady, but not a dupe slave
An eye in a dream or a dream in an eye
Hatched in black, exploring a blue sky
It is still tidy, doesn't need any nard
I will have to work hard
I will have to work hard
It is clean, It is holy
empowered by God
It's soul is almighty with healthy bod
A long way to go, a long way to go
Wings are mature, now ground is below
never weary, never desire a bard
I will have to work hard
I will have to work hard
