The Mystery Remains
Sometimes when I am working
I notice shadows moving
out of the corner of my eye.
Their shapes are assorted,
animal and human,
but when I look around
the shadows are gone.
I know some act as a warning
of some imminent thing to come.
Don’t ask me how I know,
just suffice to say I do.
Throughout my life,
strange and unexplained things
have happen to me.
It is if I’m channelling energy
from some unknown source.
I remember back in the 1960’s
when I was just beginning writing,
I made a friend in London
and we planned to get together
to write some songs.
I received a letter about a week before
I was to go and meet him.
Reading the letter,
he seemed filled with the joys of spring,
but then I thought of a conversation
in which he said he was going
to give up writing all together.
A week later, I had that conversation with him
almost word for word
only for real this time.
To this day, it baffles me
why someone feeling happy
and looked forward to something.
Would a week later want to chuck it all in,
but it really happened that way
and the mystery remains
with me to this very day.

Dismissal Of Fears
There is nothing like falling out of a tree.
That has happened to me.
Twice,
At least.
There is nothing like taking chances.
With a clear understanding,
There may be consequences to pay.

More times than I care to remember.
More times than even I...
Can remember.
And still find my actions,
Difficult to believe!
There is nothing like making mistakes.
Especially those,

Off of one's knees.
Stripped of an ego.
And every pretension...
I fed upon as a necessity.

it must have been the fruit of a trance
i must have spoken about a truth
that upon waking up (whatever that is)
i do not remember
it is a stranger that i face that insists upon a name
and address
hoping that i will soon remember it and give it
a temporary home
what was it? i still do not remember
i tell it i do not remember there is no exactness about this
remembering game
i resign into a chasing game, look i could be you and you could be me
i am certain now, there is something else between us that we love
to identify with
