The real heroes were my good buddies who died during the battles.

Here In Higglytown
(Theme to Higglytown Heroes)
Here in Higglytown
Things all jump around
Just like the Higglytown heroes
(Our heroes)
They all work together
Making fun together
Come see the Higglytown heroes
Eubie, Wayne, Twinkle, Kip and Fran
All hop and pop around
Soon they'll learn about real heroes
Who and why and how
Now
Here in Higglytown
We'll all jump around
And meet the Higglytown heroes
(Our heroes)
We'll all work together
Having fun together
With all the Higglytown heroes
Let's all play together
Save the day together
Come join the Higglytown heroes

Real Life
Mmm bop it's real life
Mmm bop it's just real life
Mmm bop it's real life
Mmm bop it's just real life
Stop me if you've heard this
It's the one about the King
Who's married to the princess
That brings good use to wear his ring
She's tired and she's lonely
Cause she's sittin there at home
He's out there with his buddies
And you know what they are doin
Mmm bop it's real life
Mmm bop it's just real life
Mmm bop it's real life
Mmm bop it's just real life
Stop me if you've heard this
Yeah the one about the boy
That's wasting all his money
Buying nasty little toys
He Thinks the girlies love it
But this ain't no fairytale
They just want what's in his wallet
Don't pass go just go to jail
Mmm bop it's real life
Mmm bop it's just real life
Mmm bop it's real life
Mmm bop it's just real life
You're never gonna change a thing
So just stop flappin
You're never gonna do with what you cannot see
Mmm bop

The Heroes Of Tureengarriffe
'Tis part of Duhallow and Sliabh Luacra history now how Sean Moylan and his men
Ambushed and inflicted heavy losses on the Black and Tans at Tureengarriffe Glen
Almost three decades before I was even born and all but nine decades ago
Since the heroes of North Cork and East kerry into the status of legends did grow
One thing that can be said of war is that heroes it never does fail to create
And even the victors of the smallest battles we always do see fit to celebrate
The winners write the history of the battles that's how it is and will always be
In the annals of Sliabh Luachra and Duhallow the heroes of Tureengarriffe created their own history
Around the fire-grate when I was a young boy the old men stories of battles told
They took up arms for Irish Independence when they were younger men in days of old
Long past their prime and they had done their fighting but at the end did it matter that much at all
The British left and the civil war then started which gave rise to the birth of Fine Gael and Fianna Fail,
The heroes of Tureengarrife now are resting in their towns and villages in cemeteries far away
Eventually they fell to the scythe of the reaper it can be said of them they had their day.

Having A Good Time
Me and my buddies were going to get drunk
Were going to go out on the town
Well be checking it out, slipping it in
And stepping out of line
You know everybody likes to get a little crazy
In their own particular way
But my buddies and I we go over the top
And were going over again today
Well be having a good time
Passing the by-line
Having a good time
You know its a rock and roll pastime
It might be typical, topical or maybe tropical
That doesnt mean anything
If youre political, practical
Then its improbable, that you do anything
But me and my buddies we like to go crazy
We like to go over the hill
Hey, woman will you be there, because my buddies and I will
Having a good time
Passing the by-line
Well be having a good time
Its a rock and roll pastime
Hey, snowy...play a bit for me
That was snowy white
And he likes err...it in the night
The next to play
I must say, is scott gorham
And away...
Well be having a good time
Passing the by-line
Having a good time
Its a rock and roll pastime
Lets play that one more time
Hit me with that drum brian
Hit me as hard as you can
Oh yes, thats they way I like it
Do it again, do it again, lets do it again
Having a good time
Oh yes I like this
Having a good time
Typical, topical, who cares?
Having a good time
Political, practical, impossible
Having a good time
Dont ask me why jack?
Having a good time
Ho! ho! ho! ho! ho!
Having a good time
Having a wild time
Having a good time
Im slipping on the inside
Having a good time
Thats fine having a good time
Having a good time
Drinking beaujolais
No that doesnt rhyme
Having a good time
Im talking from the top of my head
Having a good time
To the bottom of your soul

Soldier's Memories
Fresh from high school, new to basic
intense training, formed my buddies
from all over, different worlds
one goal, serve their country
enter war zone, arrived shock
Bullets flying, bombs exploding
minds wandering, buddies bonding
scenes beautiful, children playing
Scouting area, danger ahead
exploding IED, metal twisting
metal flying, Buddies screaming
fire burning, buddies bleeding
piercing pain, saving others
dying moans, can't be saved
blood flowing, bones bearing
injuries severe, may die
buddies dying, iam surviving
rescued, healing, will recover
buddies gone but not forgotten! !

Heroes And Friends
I ain't live forever but i've lived enough
and i've learned to be gentle and i've learned to be tough
I've found only two things that last to the end
One is your heroes and the other your friends
Your heroes will help you find good in yourself
Your friends won't forsake you for somebody else
They'll both stand beside you thru thick and thru thin
and that's how it goes with heroes and friends
I grew up with cowboys i watched on tv
My friends and i sometimes pretended to be
Years have gone by but now and again
my heart rides the range with my heroes and friends
Your heroes will help you find good in yourself
Your friends won't forsake you for somebody else
They'll both stand beside you thru thick and thru thin
and that's how it goes with heroes and friends
Your heroes will help you find good in yourself
Your friends won't forsake you for somebody else
They'll both stand beside you thru thick and thru thin
and that's how it goes with heroes and friends
that's how it goes with heroes and friends

War Is Never Over
War is never over
Thought the treaties may be signed
The memories of the battles
Are forever in our minds
War is never over
So when you welcome heroes home
Remember in their minds they hold
Memories known to them alone
War is never over
Nam veterans know this well
Now other wars bring memories back
Of their own eternal hell
War is never over
For I knew world war two
And I'll not forget the battles
Or the nightmares that ensue
War is never over
Those left home to wait know this
For many still are waiting
It was their farewell kiss
War is never over
Though we win the victory
Still in our minds the battles
No freedom is not free!

Your Hero
The heroes of the masses they live for their renown
And the masses create their heroes and then drag their heroes down
And the masses are unpredictable they change from day to day
And some of their heroes like the Autumn flowers are quick to fade away.
Yet there are millions of unsung heroes and they live on every street
And every day a hero I feel privileged to meet
True heroes male and female yet by the masses unsung
The World is full of heroes of heroes old and young.
Some heroes of the masses are arrogant and proud
And their egos over-swollen from the adulation of the crowd
But give me the unsung heroes who go their own quiet way
Who out of the kindness of their hearts perform one good deed every day.
Many heroes of the masses are not heroes to me
Though every day I walk the street some true hero I do see
Your hero is chauffeur driven and drinks the most expensive wine
And you can have your hero but your hero isn't mine.

Along The War Avenue Of honour
Along the war Avenue of Honour a plaque to a dead soldier nailed to every tree
Brave young men who died in battle their reward for their bravery
They died in the war said to end all wars in the killing fields of World war one
But many wars since and far too many bloody battles and peace in the World not yet won.
Wars started by silly ageing men who send the young for them to die
Ageing men who themselves will die of old age and their twilight years they will enjoy,
ageing males heroes of their people we honour cowards as heroes one might say
The young men will go to war for them and the young men with their young lives pay.
The war supposed to end all wars long over almost nine decades since have gone by
But many wars have been fought since then and war pilots dropp their big bombs from the night sky
But suppose that's what will always happen when we give all of our power away
To silly and ageing male war men who with hair dyes cover their gray.
Along the war avenue of honour long dead soldiers names on every tree
Young noble men who died in battle far from homeland and family
In what was to be the war to end all wars yet we don't have much wisdom to show
For the loss of so many fine young men well over eight decades ago.

Ensemble Fete Rustique
I am assembling conversations
Of two former buddies
Who really like each other
Not as lovers
But as pure friends
And much as they really want
As brothers
They wanted to be
On same direction
Taking together
A path they love
But as fate would have it
Each had
Opposite directions
One went south
The other north
For years each
Thought about
The other what
Happened and
Where must he
Be now living
One fine day
They see each
But as norms dictate
Of course
One cannot kiss
The other
They shake hands
Like nice gentlemen
And they sit
And talk
No one cries
Each will be
Calm and rigid
“you are
flourishing! ”he stoically said.
“you look
real good! ”, he is unmoving,
they have not
seen each other
for 30 years
but as norms
would have
it, they pretend
that there is
no softness
involved
that there
exists no
feelings like
that of a
lover long lost
and now is
found.
Each saw the light
And each has opted
For a compromise
They have to be
Blind just the same
When they first
Parted as buddies.

Marriage to be outdated.
They are shopping buddies.
Pleasure of shopping
Without the strain of being together.
They are gossip buddies.
Pleasure of company
Without the stress of staying together.
They are bed buddies.
Pleasure of sex
Without the friction of living together.
No more swearing undying love.
No more waiting for princes to come.
No more broken hearts
No more longing and pining.
No spying; no divorce.
Soon marriage would be outdated.
Each one would die without a companion.

War Never Solves Anything
Of battles won and noble soldiers you hear the old balladeer sing
But war only brings death and suffering and war never solves anything
And the mental scars of war keep festering long after the battle does end
You badly injure or kill someone's loved one that person will not be your friend.
For God and the flag of their Nation too many in battle have died
And the Government honour war heroes in their false show of patriotic pride
But the fact is their young lives were wasted and the fact with us sadly remain
That old battles are never over and for old grieviances human blood spilt again.
War weaponry and explosives big business in a World where human life is taken cheap
By some a human life seen as of no more value than that of a cow's or a sheep
From history we have not learned the war supposed to end all wars long gone
Yet every day more violence and terror and war and war mongering lives on.
Of battles won and acts of war bravery so many songs written and sung
And war instigated by old men must always be fought by the young
But the song for the young dead war hero to the hero's mum to it has a bitter ring
And war is a waste of human life for war never solves anything.

Heroes Are Hard To Find
Written by christine mcvie.
Girls you know
When youre in the mood
(in the mood)
You may meet a man
Cant do anything good
(nothing good)
But youve got to pity him
And ty to understand
(understand)
That a hero, a hero is so hard to find
When he takes you
For his love
(for his love)
And he tries to tell you
That there isnt any other
(dont believe him)
Oh, he may kiss you
And tell you hell miss you
(such a shame)
But dont forget, a hero is so hard to find
When he says hello
Dont forget theyre all the same
(you know theyre all the same)
You may end up sitting all alone
And with yourself to blame
Oh, dont you let him
So when he tells you
Youve got diamonds in your eyes
(hes just lying)
Dont get carried away
Cause you know hes selling you lies
(hes just lying)
So when you get the feeling
The man youve gots no good
Hes no good
Well just remember, a hero is so hard to find
Well just remember, a hero is so hard to find
Heroes, heroes are hard to find
Heroes, heroes are hard to find
Heroes, heroes are hard to find
Heroes, heroes are hard to find...

Heroes
Written by david bowie
I I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins
Like dolphins can swim
Though nothing
Will keep us together
We can beat them
For ever and ever
Oh we can be heroes
Just for one day
I
I will be king
And you
You will be queen
Though nothing will
Drive them away
We can beat them
Just for one day
We can be heroes
Just for one day
I I can remember
Standing
By the wall
And the guns
Shot above our heads
And we kissed
As though nothing could fall
And the shame
Was on the other side
Oh we can beat them
For ever and ever
Then we can be heroes
Just for one day
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
We could be heroes
We could be heroes just one day

The Gash
Is that gash in your leg
Really why you have stopped?
?Cause I've noticed all the others
Though they're gashed, they're still going
?Cause I feel like the real reason
That you're quitting, that you're admitting
That you've lost all the will to battle on
Will the fight for our sanity
Be the fight of our lives?
Now that we've lost all the reasons
That we thought that we had
Still the battle that we're in
Rages on till the end
With explosions, wounds are open
Sights and smells, eyes and noses
But the thought that went unspoken
Was understanding that you're broken
Still the last volunteer battles on
Battles on
Battles on

Real Good Man
Girl youve never known no one like me
Up there in your high society
They might tell you Im no good
Girl they need to understand
Just who I am
I may be a real bad boy
But baby Im a real good man
I may drink too much and play too loud
Hang out with a rough and rowdy crowd
That dont mean I dont respect
My mama or my uncle sam
Yes sir, yes maam
I may be a real bad boy
But baby Im a real good man
I might have a reckless streak
At least a country-mile wild
If youre gonna run with me
Its gonna be a wild ride
When it comes to loving you
Ive got velvet hands
Ill show you how a real bad boy
Can be a real good man
I take all the good times I can get
Im too young for growing up just yet
Aint much I can promise you
cept to do the best I can
Ill be damned
I may be a real bad boy
But baby Im a real good man
I may be a real bad boy
Oh but baby Im a real good man
Yes I am
