We are asleep with compasses in our hands.

Percival Sharp
Observe the clasped hands!
Are they hands of farewell or greeting,
Hands that I helped or hands that helped me?
Would it not be well to carve a hand
With an inverted thumb, like Elagabalus?
And yonder is a broken chain,
The weakest-link idea perhaps --
But what was it?
And lambs, some lying down,
Others standing, as if listening to the shepherd --
Others bearing a cross, one foot lifted up --
Why not chisel a few shambles?
And fallen columns! Carve the pedestal, please,
Or the foundations; let us see the cause of the fall.
And compasses and mathematical instruments,
In irony of the under tenants' ignorance
Of determinants and the calculus of variations.
And anchors, for those who never sailed.
And gates ajar -- yes, so they were;
You left them open and stray goats entered your garden.
And an eye watching like one of the Arimaspi --
So did you -- with one eye.
And angels blowing trumpets -- you are heralded --
It is your horn and your angel and your family's estimate.
It is all very well, but for myself I know
I stirred certain vibrations in Spoon River
Which are my true epitaph, more lasting than stone.

Never Forget
I'll never forget
the way you touched me
you forced your hands
across my spine
I'll never forget
the way you told me
the blame would always be mine
I'll never forget
the way your hands felt
too big...
too nasty...
way too strong
I'll never forget
the way you promised
what you did
was never wrong
I'll never forget
those sleepless nights
I'd try not to fall asleep
cuz the moment
I opened my eyes
I wondered what you were doing to me
I'll never forget
the lies you made
the threats so I wouldn't tell
the nights everyone was asleep
& I was in the mist of hell
I'll never forget
the force you had
forcing me to touch you back
the child hood
you robbed from me
& I can never have it back
I'll never forget
the fear I had
every time you were near me
I'll never forget
those Fxckn prayers
but God could never hear me
I'll never forget
everything I lost
you destroyed the kid in me
I'll never forget
just can't forget
exactly what daddy did to me

My heart is my hands
My hands
Is
Only my hands...
Not for
your hands....
So...
I want too work
My hands...
I want too serve
My hands...
I want to do about
Somthing of my
Hands...
My hands is
Free for only
Sleeping time only...
my hands is
working all the times
My hands not only
Hands...
It is human workers...
Allways for my friends...
My hands...is my heart...
My heart is my hands.....
Ok...How is your hands...?

As i lay asleep......
Soft cushion
Flavoured incense
I lay asleep
Night
Day
All the same
I lay asleep
Hurted deep
Women weep
I lay asleep
I lay asleep
Amidst the noise
Mortal body
Left with no choice
Drones of people
Flock around
Curious for my name
In moments of despair
Feeling of fame
Its all over
Forget me now
Lay me lower
My house-the ground
And let me sleep
Let me sleep
Sleep
Sleep, forever........

The lightning has no rulers
The lightening has no rulers
He likes a branched light
That burns the sky
Spheres in sanctity
Know not of compasses
They have no needle to pierce
Already rifled spots of the sky
And they never circle anything
Into a cage

Sleep
He is aways asleep
walking chatting working playing
though wide awake
He does not miss a train
and you cannot outwit him
in conversation or at playground
But believe it or not
he is always asleep
He has two minds one asleep
and the other awake
Or else the wide awake mind is the
isle of Langerhans
in the midst of the mind.awake
The mind asleep is
connected along hot line
with the pituitary gland
which is the point
whence the expanding universe
shot forth with a big bang

Twist 2
understanding need not be imagined
injection of what should have been is useless
we are the players and the strings are on the air
the spectator does not show how much it controls us
at first we think we have the anchor and the steer
we think our paddles are strong our engines well fueled
nay, nay, we are not even shadows of his power
when he says we step out we step out
one feels it now when one becomes weak so weak
as all the forces are removed from within
there are compasses of our mere existence
we do not think finally that we have the right to live at all
days are tricks the nights are magic
the hat is black and what comes out is the white rabbit
it is the usual story of a magician deceiving us with the speed of his hands
our sights have always been losers
Friday, when others fly away he is pushed on the wall
curls in bed, chants the words that no one understand

Dream Brother
(j. buckley/m. grondahl/m. johnson)
There is a child sleeping near his twin
The pictures go wild in a rush of wind
That dark angel he is shuffling in
Watching over them with his black feather wings unfurled
The love you lost with her skin so fair
Is free with the wind in her butterscotch hair
Her green eyes blew goodbyes
With her head in her hands
And your kiss on the lips of another
Dream brother with your tears scattered round the world.
Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
And nobody ever came...
Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
And nobody ever came...
Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
Nobody ever came
Nobody ever...
I feel afraid and i call your name
I love your voice and your dance insane
I hear your words and i know your pain
With your head in your hands and her kiss on the lips of another
Your eyes to the ground and the world spinning round forever
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Ah do you meet the one i love
And smell the one who loves you
Dream brother, dream brother, dream, dream
Dream asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over

Constant Static
Eyes open, I'm wide awake
I feel I'm in a coma state
I'll lay here on my back and watch the fan turn
Conversations cross my mind, but nothing of the speaking kind
TV images repeat there one lines
Back and forth I toss and turn
It feels like strings are holding up my eyes
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill to fall asleep
Putting up a losing fight
I'll never see this end tonight
The thought of just one dream it consumes me
Numbers on the clock turn back, my pleas are having no affect
The beating of my heart keeps the time going
Back and forth I toss and turn
It feels like strings are holding up my eyes
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill to fall asleep
They say that when you sleep your body's at rest
I wouldn't know what sleep felt like if I tried my best
Polaroids and memories can fade away, so can I...
Back and forth I toss and turn
It feels like strings are holding up my eyes
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill....

The Sleeper
As Ann came in one summer's day,
She felt that she must creep,
So silent was the clear cool house,
It seemed a house of sleep.
And sure, when she pushed open the door,
Rapt in the stillness there,
Her mother sat, with stooping head,
Asleep upon a chair;
Fast -- fast asleep; her two hands laid
Loose-folded on her knee,
So that her small unconscious face
Looked half unreal to be:
So calmly lit with sleep's pale light
Each feature was; so fair
Her forehead -- every trouble was
Smooth'd out beneath her hair.
But though her mind in dream now moved,
Still seemed her gaze to rest
From out beneath her fast-sealed lids,
Above her moving breast,
On Ann, as quite, quite still she stood;
Yet slumber lay so deep
Even her hands upon her lap
Seemed saturate with sleep.
And as Ann peeped, a cloudlike dread
Stole over her, and then,
On stealthy, mouselike feet she trod,
And tiptoed out again.

I Dreamed.... (Hands)
i dreamed last night...
and all i could see were hands.
sometimes hard and calloused,
sometimes soft and feminine.
skilled hands, laborer's hands,
loving hands, nurturing hands....
fingers digging in the dirt,
fingers holding a pen.
fingers playing a piano,
fingers unbuttoning blouses.
hands extended, hands gripping the rope,
hands holding the shovel,
hands covered with resin.
hands folded in prayer,
hands balled into fists.
hands stuffed in empty pockets.
hands that define both history,
and destiny!
hands scarred and bruised,
hands covered with age spots.
hands that speak many languages.
hands that know mistakes, and failures.
hands that built fires,
hands that put fires out!
hands that wiped away tears,
that picked up trash,
and revealed souls....
whose hands?
my hands, your hands?
god's hands?
does it really matter?
hands engaged and involved,
in the very act of living!

These Hands
Given by God -are these hands!
One can do many things -with these hands
With love one can help a strangers' hands-
Allay and comfort the elders' gnarled hands
Clean sweep and mop with these hands
Decorate and embellish with these hands
Cook and serve food to all with these hands
Clasp a loved one with these hands
Applaud one with pleasure with these hands
Dig the soil and form a garden with these hands
Hold a book to read with these hands
Write and post a card with these hands
Type a poem to cheer someone with these hands
Draw a picture and sew clothes with these hands
Paint a beautiful scene to amuse with these hands
Play a game of volley ball or cricket with these hands
Swim the waters and row a boat with these hands
Pick the harvests and fruits with these hands
Feed the animals and birds with these hands
Seek the warmth of dear ones with these hands
Feel the soft petals of a flower with these hands
Fold the palms to pray with these hands
Given by God - are these hands!

A Wound On His Forehead
he scratched it accidentally
perhaps when he was asleep
as he was wont
to raise his arms on his forehead,
and with uncut nails
he caused a wound therein
infected by his carelessness
his hand touching
barely almost anything dirty
he looks at himself on the mirror
studying
the gaping wound like an
eye staring back at him
asking
why should a man raise his hands
even when asleep?
and why should he wound himself
unnecessarily?
why does he not care about
the possibility of the complexity of an infection
that may even
cause his death?
is this the kind of surrender
he had dreamed of inside his dream?
his way of finally giving up life
since it left him with nothing to offer?
he looks at himself closely
now, he becomes a strange man staring at
another man he thought
he knew too well.

Hypnos
In my sleep, my somber sleep,
My eyes opened wide my somber sleep,
Aside Lord Hypnos, god of silent sleep,
Alone in a cave where no sun shines,
In an alias, along with Zeus alongside the divine,
Forever asleep surround by poppies and hypnogogic plants.
Under the spell of Thánatos, and never wishing grants,
In my sleep, my somber sleep,
Around me Morpheous creeps,
To cast away sounds and never awake from sleep,
I dream under the dark skies of Nyx through the night,
In my dream I percieve Morpheous, Phobetor, and Phantasos as kings,
In my dreams escape and salvation is what they bring!
Through this cave flowed the river of Lethe,
The river of forgetfulness, the river in my mind I see,
My eyes opened wide I stare at the beauty of Salene,
Daughter of titans Hyperion and Theia beautiful is she,
In my somber sleep, Salene casts over me the moon,
Also the goddess of the moon, I fall asleep too soon,
Lord Hypnos god of silent sleep,
Keep me asleep and cast away the grief!
Keep me away from the sun that Helios brings,
Keep me asleep where poppies and hypnogogic plants sings!
Close the black curtains around me, let me sleep,
Let me swim in thoughts of epiphany, in the river of Lethe,
With Endymion forever I sleep under the moon of the lunar diety,
Forever asleep with Mythological Gods of different variety,
Lord Hypnos, forever keep my asleep,
Never more I was my hands in Lethe while I weep.

Opelwerk
Staring at the white walls
it feels good
when the sun don't shine
Two of a kind
but there are times
you're not listening to me
Nail you to the floor
your hands are going numb
put out the candles
plastered to your skin
It's only for tonight
when everyone's asleep
frustration comes to me
like talking to a machine
it's only in your dreams
Bring me down
Bring me down
My eyes adjust to the light
My eyes adjust to the night
Tonight
when everyone's asleep
frustration cuts to deep
like talking to a machine
it's only in your dreams
Tonight, if only it's allright
It's only for tonight

Your Hair Dreams
Your hair
(fine as a baby’s fine)
so soft
softly
your hair
falls asleep
before the rest
of you.
Your hair
dreams of being
stroked
caressed.
The rest of you
follows suit
& soon
all of you
is sleeping.
Your hair
dreaming of my hands.
Your body
dreaming of my hands.
Dream & Reality
merging.

The most beatiful hands
There are no more beautiful hands
than the hands that caressed you
and rocked you when you were little.
There are no more beautiful hands
than the hands that guided you
when you took your first steps in life.
There are no more beautiful hands
than the hands that bathed you,
clothed you and fed you,
during childhood.
There are no more beautiful hands
than the hands that hugged you
and wiped away all your tears
throughout your life.
There are no more beautiful hands
than your mother's hands...

A Little Life/Jedan Mali Zivot
a little life I write
under the fingertips
sharpening the rulers
opening the compasses
to draw on my own brow
universe geometry
jedan mali život
koji pod jagodicama ispisujem
oštrim lenjire
otvaram šestare
i na sopstvenom čelu ispisujem
geometriju svemira

Our Hands
My hands once warm,
And clothed in yours,
my hands once full,
and held in yours.
Empty hands,
Cold hands,
my hands have lost their,
Partner as you once were for me,
Your hands at once rough,
and soft,
Always gentle when in mine,
our hands would meet to fill the cold,
My hands now empty cover tears,
my hands once warm now with
a freezing touch,
your hands are gone,
the warmth they held has left,
these hands of mine.
