The British have slang words, as we do, but it was fun.

Slang
Sittin' Dark
Getting taken
'Cause I said
Something lewd in a
Low down accent
Yeah Yeah Yeah
Kinda love those eyes
I wanna get down honey
But I ain't your guy
I'll rap'n ruch
'N jam it up
But count me out
Cause all I ever wanna get is slang
Slang with me - I don't wanna get my hands dirty
Slang with me - I just wanna get soakin' wet
Slang with me - I don't wanna get my hands dirty
All I ever wanna get is slang
What's affectin' my condition
What's about to knock you down
Said wrapped 'n bound and a goddamn
I'd love to get connected
But it's outta my hands
[Repeat Bridge]
[Repeat Chorus]
It's my intention to be your obsession
It's my obsession to be your addiction
[Repeat Chorus]

Slang Of Ages
Let me put it this way doll
And I know it's getting late
I can tell from the planes of your face
That you're from out of state
But here in the Willows now here's the deal
Tomorrow's for squarestonight's for real
Drop me off in Groovetime
Do I hear the Slang of Ages
Show me how it's done
Now did you say you were from the Netherlands
Or was that Netherworld?
If you grew up in Amsterdam
Then I'm the Duke of Earl
These tabs look iffyyou say they're good
Let's roll with the homeysknock on wood
Drop me off in Groovetime
Soothe me with the slang of ages
Show me where I turn
You are part of the Dreaming
The end of my life so far?
Or something halfway in between
You ought to know
Heywhere'd you go?
Damnshe skipped dimensions
Was it something that I said?
Or something I was thinking
When she opened up my head?
Let me make it right babynever mind how
There's a crazy little place I know called Be There Now
Drop me off in Groovetime
Do I hear the Slang of Ages
Show me how it's done
Drop me off in Groovetime
Soothe me with the Slang of Ages
This is where I turn

Idiosyncrasy and Inferiority Complex
* Vanishing table manners of a deprived loner
I see you have 1212 poems (currently) on PH. I also see you comment regularly on other members' work (though I don't think you have commented on my own) . I wonder why you have sent this to me without any idea of what you want me to do about it. If you could explain what you want (just my thoughts on this piece of writing?) I might be able to help. Most people wanting a comment on a poem post it on the site and invite others to read it.
Paul Hansford
I belong to the small Island Sri Lanka
Once a British colony, I gathered few words from your mother tongue
And my vocabulary is too small, Sorry Sir and I try to improve myself.
A painter either famous or not his brush strikes on the canvas
And the bristles never refuse to absorb the different colors.
He himself has the freedom of choice.
But a poet? Why all these restrictions of adjectives and grammar?
If he tells of his mother tongue very few understand
But his slang English some try to realize?
Let him scribble as the trash bins never refuse him.

Indian Mutiniy
British infants who were nobly born
Were from their bleeding mother's bosom torn
And with the bayonet dashed upon the street
There left to lie for native dogs to eat.
But the British Lion he soon o'erthrew
Both the high and the low Hindoo ;
Now they respect the Christian laws
For fear of British Lion's paws.

Salmon Van As
On a night just as the moon is rising
a British officer comes by horse with a white flag
and the rifle barrels of the Boers follow him,
as they are on guard at the front post.
Evening after evening he comes
and sometimes rides past in a cloud of dust
where he is spying on their positions
and tries to lead them astray with his chattering.
With words that by now they know:
“No nation will win against us.
Surrender tonight,
as you have already lost the war.”
On a hillock Salmon van As is at the front post
and something creaks below him in the trees and bushes
where he is standing with his Mauser rifle at the ready
and he knows of the atrocities of this Englishman
where with a thunder clap he shoots at him.
Some black men run back to the British camp
to tell the story of the shot,
where a red headed major stamps his feet in anger
and swears to God to take revenge.
Convinced of his own innocence Salmon van As
stays openly on his own farm,
where he goes on with his life in Heidelberg
and just after the peace of Vereniging,
when it fits the British,
they insist on his arrest.
He is brought before a military court
where he is not given any chance to defend himself,
as probably he would have succeeded in his own defence
and the British officer says his final say.
At daylight the Lee Metford rifles of the British soldiers fire
and like Gideon Scheepers there’s a Boer that falls,
a Boer citizen is murdered by the British
and in the cliff a thorn tree on his grave still tells that story.

All I Want Is Everything
I don't know how to leave you
And I don't know how to stay
I've got things that I must tell you
That I don't know how to say
The man behind these empty words
Is crying out in shame
Holding on to this sinking ship
When nothing else remains
All I want is everything
Am I asking too much?
All I want is everything
Like the feel of your touch
But all I have are yesterdays
Tomorrow never comes
It's hard to hold your head up
When you're kneeling down to pray
And the talking dooesn't come easy now
When the words get in the way
And if you could see what's going on
Behind these private eyes
The truth would look so easy now
But I'm running out of lies
[Repeat Chorus]
[Guitar Solo]
You think the shadow of doubt
Is hangin' over my head
It's just an angel whose wings hide the sun
And it's myself I betray
I can not wish this away
Took my chance now the damage is done
All I want is everything
Am I asking too much?
All I want is everything
Like the feel
