The baritone can serve functions that the alto and tenor cannot, in orchestral voicing.

The Perfect Song

If I wrote the perfect song,

Its notes and how the cords

Ought to be played-

The song would be one to

Describe our love's journey

All our highs, lows, ups, downs,

Laughs- our cries—

Its melody would be tailored by

Orchestral instruments;

A shed of electric guitars and drums,

Its beat, our heartbeat- beating as one,

Choir of two, we would sing this song

Lost in ourselves; alto, baritone, bass,

Soprano, tenor- oh! The jollity,

Singing our past, singing our present

And our future- the now

We would sing with our heart and voice

The perfect song would never end.

Sentimentality

Let us play music, any rhythm at hand.
Orchestral, some Jazz and a Rock'n'Roll Band.
Divas a-singing, their high notes so fine,
Love song and ballad... a poetical line.

Let there be romance with no sad goodbyes.
Just moonlight and roses and summertime skies.
Rich tenor and baritone, a sweet violin.
Sentimentality... 'Begin the Beguine'.

I don't know what I was trying to get out of a tenor - but it never really satisfied me until one day I picked up my alto and I said, ""Where have you been?"" and I said right here for now on!

Placido Domingo

When I was a young man, I was a baritone, very far from possessing the whole range of the tenor then.

Observations on Eloquence

precise speakers
don't coin metaphors
sloppy seakers,
for want of exact similies
create a new phrase

sometimes more colorful
originated for want of language
or poverty,
the test of a new phrase or metaphor
is time

if adopted or repeated
alas eloquence is the lilt
and cadence sonorus
baritone or tenor

Functions

Functions are held so that hosts are focused.
Functions are held so that guests are spotted.
Functions are extravagant meeting grounds.

Life Is An Adventure

Life is an adventure,
Made for an adventurer.
Made just for the boy who can,
Grow up strong and become a man.
Nothing will bother you,
You will do what you want to.
Laughes and loves and hopes and dreams,
Action will supply the means.
Living for something.
Foregiving nothing,
And youre forgiving, nothing,
Cause youre living for something.
Fast is fast, the sacred cow.
Life is in the here and now.
Got to dream and got to hope.
Broaden your horizon scope.
I told you once and I told you twice,
Japanese eat lots of rice.
You can be my assistant.
It could be to you detriment.
Ah were believing something.
Conceiving a great wealth.
Conceiving nothing
Believing in myself
Believing in myself
Life is an adventure,
Made for an adventurer.
Made just for the boy who can,
Grow up strong and become a man.

Sonnet: My Alto Car

My Alto looks superb and majestic,
From Maruti Udyog- ‘The talk of town! ”
With color, silky silver metallic;
My dignity will escalate on own.

Even the rich appear to go for it;
Five-geared, with mileage almost twenty-two;
And ample space for luggage; five can sit;
It is the car that every heart can woo!

It stands so splendidly in front of house,
And glows with beauty- all appreciate;
It is the car that’s loved by any spouse;
Perhaps, its cost can’t much depreciate!

With Alto, any distance, you can go;
No wonder ’tis India’s foremost car, oh!

The baritone singer

The magic.
Across the dreaming sky,

Memories and tears
Hanging down
Magnolias
In crying bouquets,

Illusions
Trying
To please the pleasant sound,

Certainties
Existent inside
Despite an indistinct understanding,

The sky having the same stars
Mixed with
The same dreams,

The stars having the same shine,

The baritone singer
Trying
To sound the pleasantness,
Trying
To please the soundness,

The baritone singer
Trying
To dream his star,
Trying
To star in his dream.

An Old High School Song

we used to sing:

'it seems we stood and talked like this before, the smile you were smiling
you were smiling there
but i can't remember where or when

some things that happen for the first time
seems to be happening again........'

sing it again, sing it again for me, i know you remember the song
from your heart where ever you are

many, many years ago, inside that old spanish church
we sang that song, we were not that far away,
i was the tenor then, and you were the alto
and our music teacher was so elated that
he closed his eyes, walked a little distance and listened so well
and he said we are singing like angels tha t his heart melted
on that warmest day

look at us now, tell me if you want to go back, so we will sing again
that same old song

the music teacher is still alive and he perhaps he wants to listen again
and be back on that glorious moment
of our youth
his apex too

tell me if you want to go back,
we will put on the same costumes of innocence
and sing the songs with all our open hearts

oh, how i wish to be inside that church again and be with you
alas!

you are too far away like the most distant star that i want to see even on
a stormy night

Few & Far Between

[ merchant ]
[ alto sax: maceo parker/tenor sax: alfred pee wee ellis/trombone: fred wesley (together: the jb horns) ]
Times are far between, and few I bet, when we can look upon our lives without regret.
Of all the things I have done, you think Im proud of everyone without exception?
till you make your peace with yesterday, youll never build a future.
I swear by what I say.
Whatever penance you do, decide what its worth to you and then respect it.
However long it will take to weather your mistakes, why not accept it?
My hands, for now, are tied.
Im a body frozen.
Im a will thats paralyzed.
When will you ever set aside your pain and misery?
No matter how I beg, no matter how I wish or plead, youll never be more than alive.
Youll never do more than survive until you expect it.
Do you want to build a world with our lives?
You better soon decide or you can forget it.
My hands, for now, are tied.
Im a body frozen.
Im a will thats paralyzed.
till you drop that heavy baggage youre dragging behind, there wont be room for us to both go this ride.

Jack Kerouac

Tenorman

Sweet sad young tenor
Horn slumped around neck
Bearded full of junk
Slouches waiting
For Apocalypse,
Listens to the new
Negro raw trumpet kid
Tell him the wooden news;
And the beat of the bass
The bass—drives in
Drummer drops a bomb
Piano tinkle tackles
Sweet tenor lifting
All American sorrows
Raises mouthpiece to mouth
And blows to finger
The iron sounds
