I mean, I could just go round and use session musicians for every song, but I don't find that helps when it comes to setting up a band for live. Derrick has been with me for donkey's years.

An Old Donkey For Sale
'A donkey for sale' the old man cried
And the crowd went to see the donkey.
It was as old as he - the crowd felt.
'An old donkey for sale ' the old man still cried-
But no new crowd was there to see it.
An odd man came enquiring all the way
'Where can I get an old donkey for myself? '
Then he heard the old man cry 'An old donkey for sale'
And the odd man rushed to him and his donkey.
But he said to the old man, ' The donkey isn`t really old'.
The old man and his donkey are still treading the paths,
The crowds still find the donkey and the man old alike.
The odd man never stops his search for an old donkey.
But a world never emerges at all -
That one can understand the diametrical human minds.

Dancin round & round
(adam mitchell)
Im gonna go out tonight
Gonna feel alright
If it tears me right in two
cause I just cant stay feeling this way
With a heart thats full of you
Im gonna go right down
To a part of town
Where Ive never been before
And in some small place
Find a brand new face
And step out on the floor
And Ill be dancing round and round
And Ill be satisfied if I can just hold my ground
And if he helps me to keep your memory down
Ill be dancing round and round
Well you put some distance round you
I know I meant to see
Theres a space inside for someone
But I know it isnt me
So among the boys who are searching
And the girls who hope theyre found
If you look for me, Im the one youll see
Whos dancing round and round
And Ill be dancing round and round
And Ill be satisfied if I can just hold my ground
And if he helps me to keep your memory down
Ill be dancing round and round
Come on music, wash my tears away
Come on darkness, cover up the day
Dancing round and round
And Ill be satisfied if I can just hold my ground
And if he helps me to keep your memory down
Ill be dancing round and round
Ill be dancing round and round

Session Man
He never will forget at all
The day he played at the albert hall.
A million sessions ago it seems.
He is a session man,
A chord progression,
A top musician.
Rock n roll or vocal star[? ],
A philharmonic orchestra,
Everything comes the same to him.
He is a session man,
A chord progression,
A top musician.
Hes not paid to think, just play,
A session man
A session man
A session man
Playing at a different studio every day.
He reads the dots and plays each line,
And always finishes on time.
No overtime nor favors done.
He is a session man,
A chord progression,
A top musician.
Hes not paid to think, just play,
A session man
A session man
A session man

During the last regular session and the most recent special session, measures that I see as little more than Band-Aids were applied to three health programs in the state.

When God wants to please a poor man, He lets him lose his donkey and then helps him find it again.
Join Together
When you here this sound a-comin,
Hear the drummers drumming,
I want you to join together with the band,
We dont move in any ticular direction,
And we dont make no collections,
I want you to join together with the band.
Do you really think I care,
What you read or what you wear,
I want you to join together with the band,
Theres a million ways to laugh,
And every ones a path,
Come on and join together with the band.
Everybody join together, I want you to join together,
Come on and join together with the band,
We need you to join together, come on and join together,
Come on and join together with the band.
You dont have to play,
You can follow or lead the way,
I want you to join together with the band,
We dont know where were going,
But the seasons right for knowing,
I want you to join together with the band.
Its the singer not the song,
That makes the music move along,
I want you to join together with the band,
This is the biggest band youll find,
Its as deep as it is wide,
Come on and join together with the band,
Hey hey hey hey hey hey, well everybody come on.
Come on and join, join together with the band,
We need you to join together, everybody come on,
Hey hey hey, join together with the band.

Am An Arrogant Poet
in my last birth
i was all in all
a tagore...a bharathi
all in me...an all in all POET
the words used to queue
in front of me....and
only the one's i pick along
would go to make a song
the breeze
on hearing my song
would wait.there....
for me to call it to...
to dance along
for my song
which i would ignore
a donkey i would prefer
i would call a donkey
to dance along
for my song
and that's me
the arrogance in me

Time Now For The Donkey Dance
it’s time now
let’s all do the donkey dance
it’s time now
for intelligence to carry the donkey
that’s the way
each one of you carry a donkey
for the donkey is tired of its burden
and now it’s your turn
a throne for the donkeys
each intelligence must be
so now
carry the donkey
each one of you
and me - of course, me too
and let’s do the donkey dance
left right
left right
hee haw haw hee
and side and round
and turn
hee haw haw hee
come dance all intelligent beings
this is the dance ever since earth’s first been
the dance of the donkeys
borne on our backs
by you, me and every other human being
the ancient dance of the donkeys
left right
left right
hee haw haw hee
and side and round
and turn
hee haw haw hee

Ramble On
Leaves are falling all around,
Its time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, Im much obliged
For such a pleasant stay.
But now its time for me to go,
The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain,
And with it pain,
And its headed my way.
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired,
But I know Ive got one thing I got to do,
Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
Im goin round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
Ive been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.
Got no time to for spreadin roots,
The time has come to be gone.
And tho our health we drank a thousand times,
Its time to ramble on.
Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
Im goin round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
Ive been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.
I aint tellin no lie.
Mines a tale that cant be told,
My freedom I hold dear;
How years ago in days of old
When magic filled the air,
Twas in the darkest depths of mordor
I met a girl so fair,
But gollum, and the evil one crept up
And slipped away with her.
Her, her....yea.
Aint nothing I can do, no.
Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
Im goin round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
Ive been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.
Gonna ramble on, sing my song
Gotta keep-a-searchin for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world
I cant stop this feelin in my heart
Gotta keep searchin for my baby
I cant find my bluebird!
Id listen to my bluebird sing but I cant find my blue bird
A-keep-a ramblin baby...

The shows are so different from each other, depending on whether I play with my band, Nine Stories, other musicians, an orchestra, only one or two members of my band.
Depression 2
depression
a state of agitated depression
now facing the depression
like a closed session
needing medical attention
making my agitated confession
depression my obsession
depression my only material possession
years of oppression before the recession
see the expression of my depression
depression leaving a facial impression
at it's own discretion
like a rapper at a rap session
and a singer in a jam session
or a poet at the blog talk radio session
you can't forget the internal impression
the repossession of my depression
it's a new life i'm now facing without question

It was by listening to Goodman's band, that I began to notice the guitarist Charlie Christian, who was one of the first musicians to play solos in a big band set-up.
Same Old Song
And the band starts playing
The same old song again
The monks start praying
To the same God again
But He has grown,
He's grown tired
Maybe its time
That he retired
He's grown selfish,
He's grown Greedy
Bless the homeless
And the needy
And the band start playing
The same old song again
The old are still aging
Its new years eve again
But they've grown stupid,
They've grown lazy
They've grown senile,
and gone crazy
They've grown new cancers,
And suffer old ulcers
There are new medicines,
which might be the answer
And the band start playing
The same old song again
And here I am sitting
Back in that same chair again
You were cold,
and you were hearltless
Still you insist
that you are faultless
You are selfish
and you were cruel
How long must you torture
this young fool
And the band start playing
The same old song again
And when it ends
I press rewind again
I am drunk, and feel so sleepy
And in this room I'm feeling creepy
Maybe we sat here too long
Maybe I should stop listening
To our Old Song

Love’s Lord
WHEN weight of all the garner’d years
Bows me, and praise must find relief
In harvest-song, and smiles and tears
Twist in the band that binds my sheaf;
Thou known Unknown, dark, radiant sea
In whom we live, in whom we move,
My spirit must lose itself in Thee,
Crying a name—Life, Light, or Love.

The Last Donkey
I am gathering laurels
to crown the last donkey
in my town
It is the only donkey which
thinks that soon i will be having
the heydays of my
writing career
I will have this donkey paraded in town
To be cheered by all the nitwits and nincompoops
And then the feast at home begins
All menu based on donkey meat.

Out of doing all that experimentation with sound I decided I wanted to do it with live musicians. To take repetition, take music fragments and make it live. Musicians would be able to play it and create this kind of abstract fabric of sound.

Boys In The Band
(brown)
With mr soul or king creole
You gotta go with the man in the band
Hell be your guide
Singing la la la la
But what makes mr politic
A lot of words another trick
Turn peace into war
Singing ha ha ha ha
Ooh its not the way we want it
Not the way at all
Not the way to change our minds
Our backs up against the wall
The boys in the band all live in harmony
For lifes a poem
And we can make it rhyme
The boys in the band all live in harmony
Lets get it together before we
Go down, down, down
I dont want to theorise it
Just hope people realise
The simple melody can free your soul
And let you be man what you are
And fly la la la
But every back street slum where
Pushers push and hookers hook
Just wont set you free with ha ha ha ha
Oooh its not the way we want it
Not the way at all
Not the way to change our minds
Our backs up against the wall
The boys in the band all live in harmony
For lifes a poem
And we can make it rhyme
The boys in the band all live in harmony
Lets get it together before we
Go down, down, down
Break
The boys in the band all live in harmony
The boys in the band all live in harmony
Oooh its not the way we want it
Not the way at all
Not the way to change our minds
Our backs up against the wall
The boys in the band all live in harmony
The boys in the band all live in harmony
The boys in the band all live in harmony
The boys in the band all live in harmony
The boys in the band all live in harmony
The boys in the band all live in harmony
