While listening, to things like western swing, for instance, I'd work something out in my head, then play it on my National; not the same song, but one that captured the feeling of the original tune.

Sing Me A Swing Song
Give me a song that's robust
Feeling the way I am
Any old band'll go bust
If it ain't got that jam
When a body needs a body
On the ballroom floor
Then a body asks a body
"What's a swing band for?"
Oh baby, I don't want you
To croon soft and mellow
Let me warn you in advance,
Sing me a swing song and let me dance
Oh baby, I don't want
Any moon, bright and yellow
You can have your sweet romance
Sing me a swing song and let me dance
Mr. Trombone, play some corn
I ain't carin' what notes
Mr. Trumpet, grab a horn
Brother, give me hot notes
Oh baby, I don't want
Any tune, on a cello
Give the rhythm men a chance
Sing me a swing song and let me dance
instrumental interlude
Let me warn you in advance,
Sing me a swing song and let me dance
You can have your sweet romance, just
Sing me a swing song and let me dance
Mr. Trombone, play some corn
I ain't carin' what notes
Mr. Trumpet, grab a horn
Brother, give me hot notes
Oh baby, I don't want
Any tune, on a cello
Give the rhythm men a chance
Sing me a swing song and let me dance
Ol' Chick Webb is beatin' it out
Makes me feel like I want to shout
All the boys are ready to prance, so
Sing me a swing song and let me dance

To tell something original.
She says, you are not original in what you are telling me
Any janitor in your office can always say that seeing that
It is different. I am original in this. I am feeling something.
I am original in this feeling and you do not feel it that way I see these things.
I am leaving you. It is the first time I am feeling this. It is this first time
That I am telling you. I am original. I have long searched what words to use
To tell something original.

Poparazzi
tune
tune for the poparazzi
tune for the poparazzi
this is a tune the poparazzi
the who's who and the so and so's
this is a tune for the graven images of marilyn monroe
we saw your face on the magazine
we heard the song on the mp3
you're stuck in my head
stuck in my head
stuck in my head
you can close your ears and your eyes
but the pop will never leave you alone
tune for the poparazzi
leave me alone
with your social lingo
you try so hard to stay on top
leave me alone
with your little jingle
with your picture perfect pop
we read the article in seventeen
we saw the video on mtv
you're stuck in my head
stuck in my head
stuck in my head
you can close your ears and your eyes
but the pop will never leave you alone
pop will never leave you alone
noooo
this is a tune for the late nirvana
the teen spirit rock and roll
this is a tune for the velvet elvis's
on the 90210
i thought my eyes were gonna get off clean
till i read your lips on the tv screen
you were busy saying what you didn't mean
now everyone is singing along with your ridiculous song
you got it stuck you
got it stuck in my head
stuck in my head
stuck in my head
you can close your ears and your eyes
you can close your ears and your eyes
but the pop will never leave you alone

Always On Cue
Life should be in tune with you,
A gentle song, always on cue,
Soft lingering smile, by pleasure kissed,
Sunbeams that pierce the early mist.
Listening to the chorus of birds at dawn,
Glimpsing blossom on a wild hawthorn,
Laughter pulsating through the veins,
Happiness filled with sweet refrains.
Feeling such balance and harmony,
When I'm with you, and you're with me.
Life should be in tune with you,
A gentle song, always on cue.

listening to a child singing
another innocence
preaches
In a sweet song
From tight lips
A song of love
She barely knows
perhaps
Only has the feel of
A world new to her eyes
Such a song
such fantasy
Good for children
Shall cure a little of this
Big wound that
keeps rotting
In poisonous odors
Such pains
that keep pinning
Hearts that curse
almost
Learning all
blasting blasphemy
Such song for us
all living
Every breakfast time
We dread to remember
we
Who are dumped
in a damp
Loveless locomotion
I hear her sing
to a world
That I already
misunderstood
My tired eyes are wanting
of escape-dreams
My dirty feet shiver
for these rough
Foundations
Ah, sweet song yet
only a child-song
Who can stop such
a short swing to eternity?
And forget
everything
everything
everything
… We can do noting for her
and for her song
we can do nothing too
so we just listen
and go back to our
work
work
work
and
work again.

Swing
(nick feldman)
Baby ben really likes to swing
Baby ben really feels like a king
As the wail of the horns make his body sway
Peggy sue likes to rock and roll
Peggy sue gonna lose control
As electric guitars play all her fears away
Chorus:
You gotta swing down tonight
Swing it real tight
Swing with your baby tonight
You gotta swing down tonight
Its gotta feel right
Swing with your baby tonight
Swing tight with your baby tonight
Swing down, swing down tonight, swing!
Baby ben knows just where its at
Baby ben wears a pork pie hat
Feeling so cool, he draws his baby in
Peggy sue dont care for no rules
coz peggy sue is his queen of cool
Locked in the groove they surrender to the swing
Repeat chorus
Swing, swing, swing, swing
Whether its rock or its swing
The groove is the thing
Gather the night around you
coz the world belongs to you
Swing with your baby tonight - swing tight
With your baby tonight

Play Me
Written by: neil diamond
She was morning
And I was night time
I one day woke up
To find her lying
Beside my bed
I softly said
Come take me
For Ive been lonely
In need of someone
As though Id done
Someone wrong somewhere
I dont know where
Come lately
You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me
Song she sang to me
Song she brang to me
Words that rang in me
Rhyme that sprang from me
Warmed the night
And what was right
Became me
You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me
And so it was
That I came to travel
Upon the road
That was thorned and narrow
Another place
Another grace
Would save me
You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me

The Listening Week
This is the listening week of the year
Listening-in.
A-cock and alert is the national ear
Listening-in.
All over the land in the country towns,
From the back of the Leeuwin to Darling Downs,
Layers of 'quids' or the odd half-crowns,
They are listening-in.
On the far-flung farms they are round each set,
Listening-in.
The work and the worry they all forget,
Listening-in.
Wherever an aerial soars in space
To the Cup, or the Oaks or the Steeplechase,
To the roar of the ring and the lure of the race
They are listening-in.
In the far outback there are sun-tanned men,
Listening-in.
Where the woolshed stands by the drafting pen
Listening-in.
Old Dad's come in from the Ninety Mile;
He scored on the Cup and he wears a smile,
And he 'reckons this game is well worth while'
So he's listening in.
To the edge of the desert the sound-waves go;
And, listening-in,
Ned of the Overland, Saltbush Joe
Listening-in
Recall the giants of years long past,
And the loneliness of these spaces vast;
But they reckon that life's worth living at last
With this listening-in.

Swing high and swing low
Swing high and swing low
While the breezes they blow -
It's off for a sailor thy father would go;
And it's here in the harbor, in sight of the sea,
He hath left his wee babe with my song and with me:
"Swing high and swing low
While the breezes they blow!"
Swing high and swing low
While the breezes they blow -
It's oh for the waiting as weary days go!
And it's oh for the heartache that smiteth me when
I sing my song over and over again:
"Swing high and swing low
While the breezes they blow!"
"Swing high and swing low " -
The sea singeth so,
And it waileth anon in its ebb and its flow;
And a sleeper sleeps on to that song of the sea
Nor recketh he ever of mine or of me!
"Swing high and swing low
While the breezes they blow -
'T was off for a sailor thy father would go!"

Play Jolly Music at My Funeral
I’ve taken in recent years to thinking about my funeral
and have decided to make one paramount request:
play jolly music at that ritual.
What good does it do to heap on dirges
or other mournful melodies?
I won’t be there to be gratified by the grieving
and if I could tune in
I’d be happier to see those present have some relief.
Dixieland would be nice.
Joplin would be fine.
Something by Fats Waller would certainly do.
Those early jazzmen knew what they were up to
when they set about making funeral marches swing.
So swing me away, please, with a rousing tune.

Ken Bruce
If ever you're feeling downcast
And thinking it's no use,
Tune in, you'll feel much better
When listening to Ken Bruce.
A jovial sort of chappie
And Scottish through and through;
Working for the B.B.C.
Each day on radio 2.
I used to think that Wogan
Was really very good;
But Kenneth is far better,
It must be in his blood.
He loves a sparring partner
On whom to hone his tongue;
And couldn't find a better one
Than good old Jimmy Young.
They go a round or two each day,
Before I have my dinner;
Jimmy gives it all he's got
But Ken comes out the winner.
Yes, if ever you're feeling downcast
And life just seems no use,
Tune in, you'll feel much better
When listening to Ken Bruce.

Silent Sunlight
Silent sunlight, welcome in
There is work I must now begin
All my dreams have blown away
And the children want to play
Theyll soon remember things to do
When the heart is young
And the night is done
And the sky is blue
Morning songbird, sing away
Lend a tune to another day
Bring your wings and choose a roof
Sing a song of love and truth
Well soon remember if you do
When all things were tall
And our friends were small
And the world was new
Sleepy horses, heave away
Put your backs to the golden hay
Dont ever look behind at the work youve done
For your work has just begun
Therell be the evening in the end
But till that time arrives
You can rest your eyes
And begin again

Solace From Strings
Tune up your strings.
Keep them tight.
Strum me a song
on this painful night.
Play, play
take my pain away.
Tune up your strings.
Let your fingers slide.
Help me forget
how I have cried.
Play, play
take my pain away.
The sound of your strings
make me weep
and as you strum
I can fall asleep.
Play, play
take my pain away.

There's Solace In Verse
A song's but a way of telling a story,
It can be about love even sadness or glory,
Whatever the lyrics you can guarantee,
By singing those words you can set yourself free.
While listening to music be it night or day,
The song takes you over you get carried away
Before you know it you are singing along,
You become that person, the singer of that song.
When you're writing the lyrics ensure they're kept terse,
For that's when you will find,
‘' There's Solace In Verse ''
That's the wonder of music regardless of type,
It makes you feel good you believe all the hype,
A song can lift you when you're feeling grief,
If you need cheering up it will bring you relief.
That's the wonder of music for like it or not,
It stirs up a feeling which just cannot be bought,
Next time you feel down if you just want to cry,
Put on some music go on give it a try.
Before you know it those thoughts will disperse,
Very soon you'll believe,
‘' There's Solace In Verse ''
So become a believer play your favourite song,
If you don't feel the vibes you can say I was wrong,
But that won't happen for I know that it's true,
When you play the right music it will happen to you.
From that special feeling you will not want to hide,
It will change your perspective; it can turn the tide,
Before you know it your life has unfurled,
You'll be back to your best, on top of the world.
In the lyrics and music you will soon immerse,
It's then you'll have learned,
‘‘ There's Solace In Verse ‘'
The First Extra
A Waltz Song.
O sway, and swing, and sway,
And swing, and sway, and swing!
Ah me, what bliss like unto this,
Can days and daylight bring?
A rose beneath your feet
Has fallen from my head;
Its odour rises sweet,
All crushed it lies, and dead.
O Love is like a rose,
Fair-hued, of fragrant breath;
A tender flow'r that lives an hour,
And is most sweet in death.
O swing, and sway, and swing,
And rise, and sink, and fall!
There is no bliss like unto this,
This is the best of all.
Do It For Your Love
Each single day I get up and make my way
And it all comes into view
Its like a part in a play
You can turn it around in so many different ways
But its still the part you play
And so to you I dedicate
This role they have handed me
And I will do it for your love
Down in the street you can win or lose
To that crazy beat
But youll never change the tune
cos the tune is the song
And song is the game of life, we just come and go
But we can laugh and we can bend
Together though, me and you
So I will do it for your love
Look around, see that you see
Theres no sense in being so blue
Now Ive got to have a reason for seeing this out
Other than seeing it through
So I will do it for your love

Pretty adorable
Cutest and sweetest voice I'm crushing on
My heart is set on you and I love you
Can't help but smile whenever I see you, I have such
a happy smile that I wouldn't ever hide
You're so adorable and I have a obsessive
crush on you
Do you have the same sensational emotions I'm feeling
for you, tell me cause I really want to know
Irresistible is the first thing I say when I picture you
I think you're pretty adorable and I'm lovestruck
whenever I'm around you
Getting lost in your eyes and stare at you wondering
if you are possibly crushing on me
Not trying to seem rude or creepy but you're just so cute
I love being with you because my heart sings when we're
together
Humming the song that both love to listen to
A romantic little song I keep humming because it makes
me think about you
That is my new favorite song that I'm constantly listening to
Replaying the song over again till it's stuck in my head
As the song starts I start to hear the slow romantic piano play
and then I smile

I captured a butterfly in a jar
I captured a butterfly in a jar
I danced around in the grass for hours
Chasing it down stumbling falling laughing
Making the chase the most rewarding
I captured a butterfly in a jar
There it was for me to hold and keep forever
Anytime I wanted to relish in the joy of life
There it was for me to look upon
I captured a butterfly in a jar
Time eroded on and all things change
The butterfly became just another bug
Trapped in a glass cage
I captured a butterfly in a jar
And saw how sad it truly was
A prisoner and I the jailer
I had to let it go
I captured a butterfly in a jar
I opened that lid and allowed it to go
And it flew away far from me
It left me yearning for that summer day
I captured a butterfly in a jar
But maybe it captured me
Because ever since that butterfly flew away
I have never again felt free
