There is a certain moment in the film when the son is in the nursing home and he goes to the television and turns it off because he sees himself in the image.

Nursing Home
The moat in my eyes never bring me no sleep
They just strap me inside with the demons I keep
Gotta leave me alone gotta let it be lone
Tired of living, too tired to die
Makes the sharks keep swimming when he dont know why
Gotta get the lean fin
Only thin that he wears
Nursing me to the movie that he shows
Nursing me to the bureau and the ?
Nursing me cant you leave me alone?
Nursing me in a nursing home
Sleeping and working and an old man
Come just to profit my feet with a broken old hose
Stop riding those rails
Stop setting those sails
He likes (boom boogie ? ? )
Hes got an old trombone
While hes laughing at the fires with a broken beat phone
Got a troubled soul
But hes not that cold
(chorus)
Ive been nursed ten years in a nursing home!
Stinking on water I could use me food
He needed big fat gravy on the wake of pot roast
Got a fire inside
Its gonna burn him alive
Talking and struggle till the roof is blown
Got a bed and three squares in a nursing home
Gonna say bye-bye
Hes gonna walk on by

Menaka Turned Lakshmi
In many a film in the past,
Did I see in you, Simran,
A Meneka, a Ramba,
A Urvesi and a Thilothma.
I took you {image} to my bed.
In this film only,
Did I see in you,
A goddess Lekshmi,
An avatar of Seeta.
I took you {image} to my shrine.

It is about this very abstract sense of displacement that he feels the moment he turns off the television.

Once the image was in the digital environment, one of the problems was, we had no means to reproduce the color spectrum, grey scale, and contrast that film produces, without converting the digital file to film, evaluating it, then going back and changing the digital image.

Nursing Home Blue
Nursing Home Blues
I sent mother to a nursing home, she didn´t want
to go but I ignored her wishes, we often do that
when concerning old people, we say it is for their
own good, but the truth is I didn´t know what
else to do. Mother became quite rebellious they
called me from the home she was throwing food
about and demanded, when she evacuated, that
an assistant come and dry her bum.
Wanted to go home, there was no home she had
lived in a rented flat and someone else lived there.
When she knew she she felt betrayed, her silence
was damning. She stopped eating, gaunt, a skeleton
before death came as a relief. Now that I´m old too
families telling me I should not ride on my scooter
in case I might fall off…like should I care.

And you know, we did it as an independent film, and we weren't expecting it to be on television, and Lifetime ended up buying it. And the viewers responded intensely to that film.

As with sound, images are subjective. You and I may not see the same color red as red, but we will probably agree that the image on the screen is a digital image or film image, based on contrast, bit depth, and refresh rate.

The thing that fascinates me is that the way I came to film and television is extinct. Then there were gatekeepers, it was prohibitively expensive to make a film, to be a director you had to be an entrepreneur to raise money.

It was the beginning of film for television. So we had all of these great opportunities. Northwestern was probably the only major film school of its kind at the time that was graduating anybody important.

Social Security Reform
They have found an answer for social security
Put them in a nursing home, no liability
Medicaid and medicare will probably have to pay
Then they'll only live a year or two and become their prey
The nursing home corporations, will get rich
And the social security payments, they can ditch
Who's powerful enough to point a finger at them
Some politicians is where it all will stem
The corporations make large contributions
Giving social security great solutions
Let's change the laws and cap health care liabilty
And hurt the care in nursing homes, supposed to be tranquilty
I guess when people get old, they don't need a voice
After all it's not their own, it's the goverments choice!

Because of the power of television, I was visible to everybody all over the world. But there are many things in the theater that are more fulfilling and that I look forward to doing more. But really, I love it all: theater, film, television.

I was mostly interested in it as a theatrical film. Personally, I am not so interested in television, simply because I don't watch television myself. I'm into movies.

Often times people complain about the lack of time in television, but I have to say, you don't have any more time to film in feature films then you do in television. It's just a question of how many scenes you'll be doing in the course of a day.

Living in fallacy
We fall under the spell of many women
With whom we had no contacts in person.
Film stars, singers and television stars.
Where are chemistries, magnetic pulls or
Corporal attraction? What is the cause?
Agreeable image is enough to spur.
Human brain learnt to live on fallacy and fantasy.

Vicarious Experience
(While Watching Coffee Prince*)
She feels love in just a touch, in every stare
Even in every thought of the woman and man
The pirated digital video disk gets stuck-
She ran it, ran it so many, many times-
The image of the lovers sharing a smile
Is frozen like a large colorful still picture
Slowly, she shuts her eyes, sees beyond
Derision has been disguising as laughter
The silence between has become too wide
Arresting the space for hope, second chances
Absence no longer makes the heart yearn
It gives breathing space a lease in solitude
The door opens, a figure dominates the room
She pushes the remote control’s power button
The television screen turns deathly black
He need not know that her hollow, prosaic life
Draws color and joy from a television screen.
She remembers how much they had and lost
These days, his baritone voice comes shadowed
On the air, overwhelmed by his betrayals
The lies in his words obscure his messages
Her memories of their good times mingle
Drearily with thick smoke masking his figure
As, like a tourist in a crowded shopping mall,
He passes her by nay a stare, nay a word
Till his figure disappears behind a narra door
Now a complete stranger in her pallid world
Like a weary traveler frantic for a dropp of water,
She pushes a button; the television comes to life
For some tangled moment, she loses herself
In a certain world once his and hers, once theirs
Secretly, she gaily basks in its luster and light
Hoping they will go back to that place
Hoping it will endure for others, at least.

But I think the image that's thrown out on television is a bad image. Because you see players who want to imitate hip-hop stars. And the NBA is taking advantage of the situation.

Sometimes There Is A Moment
Sometimes there's a moment,
That we don't want to change.
Sometimes there's a moment,
Where we are truly happy.
Sometimes there's a moment,
That you want to last forever.
Sometimes there's a moment,
That you look back on and smile.
Sometimes there's a moment,
When you see someone in a brilliant way.
But there's always a moment,
Where that person's changes.
There's always a moment,
Where that image fades.

We Just Have To Make The Best Of It...
these are the lines of
a 90 year-old widower just put in the nursing home
trying to put the pieces again
those past parts
no longer fit as she agrees with her son
that she does not serve
any purpose
at all in that old house
with a closed door never to be opened again
how she resigned from the usual cooking and baking
and putting the flowers in the vase
half watered
as she talks to another wrinkled woman sitting next to her
she mutters, 'Lady, we just have to make the best of what we are now'
Then the other quipped, 'Do i look ninety? '
Outside the nursing home,
the snow begins to fall.
