I equate fame towards people who know your work, people who will see your work. But all that stuff, like with the Genies and stuff like that, it was so much fun. It's so much fun and it's nice when it comes, but that's not what it's all about.

Downhill Stuff
This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the john denver album, and has also been released on the country classics album.
Blue river blues
Id rather be outside
Here I am inside
Watching it rain
Blue river blues
Id rather be somewhere
Here I am nowhere
Watching it rain
Some people like that downhill stuff
They like it fast and breezy
Some people walk on the other side
They like it slow and easy
Some people run on a mountain trail
Some like it wild and rough
Some like to fly and some like to sail
Some like the downhill stuff
Theres work in what we practice
Work in the things we say
Sometime we work just to try to make a livin
Or were workin just to make it pay
Sometimes were tryin to work our will
But that wont work anyway
I only know that Im workin still
Just to get another chance to play
Some people like that downhill stuff
They like it fast and breezy
Some people walk on the other side
They like it slow and easy
Some people run on a mountain trail
Some like it wild and rough
Some like to fly and some like to sail
Some like the downhill stuff
Keep a movin in a forward direction
Like a river rollin down to the sea
If you wanna make different selection
Honey let yourself go with gravity
Oh everybodys lookin for heaven
Everybodys lookin for hope
Everybody lookin for higher and higher
But nobody wants to be lookin alone
Everybodys tryin to get down to it
Everybodys tryin to sing
Whatever it is were all gonna do it
But whatever we do
We gotta do our own thing
Some people like that downhill stuff
They like it fast and breezy
Some people walk on the other side
They like it slow and easy
Some people run on a mountain trail
Some like it wild and rough
Some like to fly and some like to sail
Some like the downhill stuff

People go back to the stuff that doesn't cost a lot of money and the stuff that you don't have to hand money to over and over again. Stuff that you get for free, stuff that your older brother gives you, stuff that you can get out of the local library.

Stuff Like That
Stuff llike that
I get a feeling of melochany
Doing stuff like that
Brings back memories
Nostalgia
The way it used to be
The unity and promises
Made by other,
Regarding you and me
Stuff like was once so easy
Wonder people no longer do
Stuff lkke that

There is a lot of work just in terms of traveling and logistics and people and gear and all that kind of stuff. But I never really have problems playing music. That never seems like work.
Harrisburg
The empire rings
The umpires not laughing
The presidents resented,
The ambassadors a night club
You cannot get it out
Its stuff you cannot taste or see
Its stuff you cannot smell
Its stuff thats twenty times as hot
As the hottest stuff in hell
Harrisburg, oh harrisburg
The plant is melting down
The people out in harrisburg
Are getting out of town
And when the stuff gets in
You cannot get it out
The company said it would not blow
The government said it might
Harrisburg, oh harrisburg
I wonder who was right
Who can leave it behind,
The curtains are drawn
Theres something I must say to you
You cannot get it out

Where There's Smoke, There's Failure
So it goes like this,
Guy meets girl.
Guy buys flowers.
Girl puts them in a vase.
Guy buys a ring.
Girl says yes.
Guy goes to work.
Girl goes to work.
Guy meets girl.
Girl meets guy.
Guy and girl fight about girl and guy.
Guy leaves work for new work and gets an apartment by himself.
Girl moves over seas and doesn't have to work any more because she has a new guy and the old guy has to send her money from his new work.
Guy writes poems.
Guy writes about new girl and old girl and new guy and work and old friends.
Guy wants to stop working and sell poems about the stuff in his life so that he can do other stuff in his life without having to go to real work.
Guy does not yet have high selling collection of poems.
Guy goes to work.
Guy meets girl.
Guy buys flowers.

A sobering spirit in Lagen
Can be heard swearing 'Starving's a bargain!
But enough is enough
(Stuff, stuff, stuff, stuff, stuff) .'
Then retreats, hunting bargains again.

I would love to work more - I really would - but there is not a lot of stuff around and the stuff that is around is not very complicated; it tends to lie a little flat.

Ruffled Up
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
This stuff that's got me ruffled up!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Because I'm tough enough.
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
This stuff that's got me ruffled up!
I'm gotta beat it.
Since I can't leave it.
To grieve over weeping.
And compare my pains.
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
This stuff that's got me ruffled up!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
This stuff that's got me ruffled up!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
That's got me ruffled up!
I've had it,
With this stuff.
Too many,
Suffer enough.
And too much stuff that corrupts...
Is,
Enough!
I've had it,
With this stuff.
Too many,
Suffer enough.
And too much stuff that corrupts...
Is,
Enough!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
That's got me ruffled up!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff.
Yes!
I'm gonna beat this stuff
That's got me ruffled up!

Out Of Love
I'm Out of love again
And I need anyone
I'm out of love again
And I need everyone
I'm out. I'm in again
And I need some love
I'm out of touch again
And I need you babe
I'm out of love again
But I got your stuff
I'm out of love again
But I got your love
I'm out of wack again
And I need soft heat
I'm down to far too bend
And I need something sweet
I'm out of love again
But I got your stuff
I'm out of love again
But I got your love
I'm out of love again
But I got your stuff
People in my life:you're the one
Of people in my life you're the one
I'm out of love again
But I got your love
I'm out of love again
But I got your stuff
I'm out of love again
But I got your love
I'm out of love again
Not while you're by my side

Everytime I get restless, I see my hand knockin on your door
And everytime Im in a fix baby, I start actin like I need you more
Well Ive been lookin for someone to talk to
And Ive been searchin for a better way
And Ive been runnin all over town, girl
Ive been lookin each and every way, yeah
But you got somethin special
And Im bein on the level with you
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), mmm, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), at five oclock in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), still cant get enough
(great stuff, luv your stuff)
Livin like a fool in flames
You know that I been usin you, girl
And Im the one to blame
But babe, I got my cupboards all stocked and ready
What you get girl, is what you see
And youve been lookin inside my head now
And you got your arms wrapped around me, mmm
I got no thing for our candy
Its your lovin girl, that gets me down
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), send the bill in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), get busy
I got no sense of reason, I know I gotta make a deal
Its all comin down to somethin baby, its tellin me I got to get real, huh
I got my senses in a tuft, Im all mixed up, my temperatures starting to rise
And I cant seem to stay away from you, girl, I think its more than we realized, yeah
Wont you look what its doin
Its your lovin girl, that gets me down
You got that thing that moves me, yeah
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff), Ill pay the price in the morning
(great stuff, luv your stuff), ooh, I luv your stuff
(great stuff, luv your stuff)

Nice Work If You Can Get It
The man who only lives for making money
Lives a life that isn't necessarily sunny
Likewise the man who works for fame
There's no guarantee that time won't erase his name
The fact is, the only work that really brings enjoyment
Is the kind that is girl and boy meant
Fall in love you won't regret it
That's the best work of all if you can get it
Holding hands at midnight
'Neath a starry sky
Nice work if you can get it
And you can get it if you try
Strolling with the one girl
Sighing sigh after sigh
Nice work if you can get it
And you can get it if you try
Just imagine someone
Waiting at the cottage door
Where two hearts become one
Who could ask for anything more?
Loving one who loves you
And then taking that vow
Nice work if you can get it
And if you get it
Oh won't you tell me how

Workplace Jingle
From the crammed crypt to the script
A new sun has shone on me
It is the Son from Sonzone
And He says come work with me
Be you Martha in the fore
Or that Mary wearing shawl
There’s new lease of life at work
And He says come work with me
Yet one King will have to reign
For all those who want a rain
On their apron or their scalpel
And He says come work with me
When He comes as C-E-O
And you stand up on your toes
Transformation is on us
For He says come work with me
No one jostles to see Him
He’s for one and He’s for all
The workplace is His workplace
And He says come work with me
You may have a piece of chalk
Or duster to wipe the stuff
Or that voice that pierces ears
He just says come work with me
Come stand with me in my stand
Come walk with me in my walk
Come sit with me in my seat
This is how you work with me
