There are a lot of films that are drug dramas, and we didn't want to tell Scarface again.

The Perfect Drug
The perfect drug
I got my head, but my head is unraveling
Cant keep control, cant keep track of where its traveling
I got my heart but my heart is no good
And youre the only one thats understood
I come along but I dont know where youre taking me
I shouldnt go but youre reaching back and shaking me
Turn off the sun, pull the stars from the sky
The more I give to you, the more I die
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You make me hard, when Im all soft inside
I see the truth, when Im all stupid eyed
The arrow goes straight through my heart
Without you everything just falls apart
My blood wants to say hello to you
My feelings want to get inside of you
My soul is so afraid to realize
Every little word is a lack of me
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
And I want you
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
(whispering)
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the perfect drug, the perfect drug
You are the perfect drug, the drug, the perfect drug
Take me, with you
Take me, with you
Take me, with you
(continues in backround)
Without you, without you everything falls apart
Without you, its not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Without you, without you everything falls apart
Without you, its not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Its not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Its not as much fun to pick up the pieces
Without you, without you everything falls apart
Without you, its not as much fun to pick up the pieces

I've always been into films. I've been offered lots of films but they've always been these very stereotypical roles. They wanted me to play some gangster or street guy, or pimp, drug addict.

Beneath Your Feet
Everyday we go outside,
to enjoy the world out there,
but we never think about,
the world beneath our feet.
It maybe tiny and microscopic,
with creatures that make some shiver.
This world is in a way
similar to the one we live in.
There are dramas there
as each creature struggles to survive.
So the next time you go
out into the garden,
stop for a moment and wonder,
at all the dramas being played out there.
The dramas of life and death,
that is just beneath your feet.

Old Scarface
Old Scarface wasn't all that old
But lions tend to age
When grizzled hearts turn freezing cold
Yet burn with white-hot rage!
He stands there, staring, fuming mad!
His teeth like gnarly nails...
A gentle lion now turned bad,
Completely off the rails!
He's lost his friends, he walks alone,
He's always on his guard...
His reputation's so well known
That others call him hard.
He fights to win and always will
Until old age creeps near,
Like others, he has blood to spill,
From scars from ear-to-ear...
Old Scarface, how I pity you...
Not born a butterfly,
Not born a gentle dove, it's true,
Perhaps ashamed to cry...
Your days are filled with fury fights,
Until your days are done...
Then who will care of cold delights
And battles that you've won?

Some of these things I saw in foreign films - African films, Cuban films - long before I decided to really go on this course as an actor. I started to think about what values I saw in those films that I wanted to bring to my projects.

There were a lot of people dreaming about making films, and they would finance maybe 6 films a year. Because they were funded by the government, the films sort-of had to deal with serious social issues - and, as a result, nobody went to see those films.

Drug (It's Just A State Of Mind)
(lebon, rhodes, taylor)
Take me in the morning
Take me every night
Take me when you're feeling low
Take me when you want to stay
Take me,
Take me, take me, take me, take me
Take, take, take, take.
Before you slide into the wide
There's something i want you to know
(what you see is what you want)
In all your stretch of conciousness
You've still got a long way to go
(what you want its what you need)
Some make you spin,
Some make you sweat,
Its only here for you to choose (choose me)
And if you try, an alternative high
Then tell me what have you got to loose now..
Take me every morning
Take me every night
Take me when you're feeling low
Take me when you want to stay - up all night
Up all night
The hit, the hit
The hit to fit reality,
Its just a state of mind
(what you see is what you want)
And you'll admit its more than just an axe that you've got to grind
(what you want is what you need)
We'll make a spin
We'll make you sweat
All you've got to do is use me (use me)
Some like it hot
But i like it wet
So tell me what have we got to lose now..
(chorus)
A drug, its a drug
A drug, its a drug
A drug, its a drug
A drug, its a drug
(use me) (use me) (choose me) (choose me) (use me) (use me)
A drug, its a drug
A drug, its a drug
A drug, its a drug
A drug, its a drug
(chorus)
Take me every morning
Take me every night
Take me when you're feeling slow
Take me when the mood is right
(chorus)
Take me every morning
Take me every night
Take me when you're feeling slow
Take me when the mood is right
Up all night
(chorus) (mixed until fade..)

It's A Drug
It's a drug
My goodness, is it really?
Yes, it is.
Wow, I'm impressed.
It's got magical powers
Has it really?
What can it do?
It can turn you into a complete slave.
Really, how does it do that?
Well it's a drug.
Really, it's a drug.
Yes it is.
And it's got magical powers
It's very, very powerful
It's incredibly powerful
It has so much power
You wouldn't even believe all the power that it has
Try to imagine how much power this drug has
Can you imagine it?
I'm trying to.
It has turned people into absolute slaves
How does it do that?
Because it's a drug.
Oh I see, it's a drug
Wow, that's impressive. It's a drug
Yes, and drugs have lots of power
Once you start taking a drug you have to keep taking it
For how long?
Forever
Why?
Because it's a drug.
Drugs have lots of power
Wow do they?
Yes, lots and lots of power and once you start taking a drug you must continue
Why is that again?
Because it's a drug. It's very, very powerful
What if you don't believe in the power of the drug?
Then it has no power.

All the great novels, all the great films, all the great dramas are fictions that actually tell us the truth about us or about human nature or about human situations without being tied into the minutia of documentary events. Otherwise we might as well just make documentaries.

Avoid Drama
There’s drama in everyone life
Everyone bring around a little baggage with them
The husband and the wife
Probably complaining about someone they don’t really like
It sort of weird you see
There’s so much wrong, and I could be right
Even I have a little drama about me
Baby daddy drama – I hate it all
Parents saying I didn’t do enough with my life
Second older sister took a fall
Oldest sister is now a wife
Youngest sister is not so well
Baby father is no where around
Only time can tell
He’s no where insight to be found
Avoiding drama may come easy for some, and others not
The struggles of life pops up in a while
It isn’t all that
Worries take over- not even a smile
There’s so much drama
I can’t even avoid it all
Baby daddy, ex- girlfriend drama
It’s all I use to think about
Why you have to leave your baby mama?
I find it hard to avoid drama
There are drama queens
The baby daddy and the baby mama
The adults and the ex-girlfriends in there teens
The husband cheating on his wife
He causing problem
And messing up his life
Dramas is all around us
It comes out
And hurt us
Dramas
Avoiding it
Dramas
Running away from it
It will come back in a way
And messes with our head
Avoiding drama, it couldn’t be okay

I've heard about brothers making films, but I've never heard about whole families making films like this. We didn't intend to do it; it wasn't something that we planned - it just gradually happened.

My Dearest Drug Friend
My dearest drug friend caught up in your trip,
Holding on tightly but still losing your grip.
My dearest drug friend passed out on the floor,
Full of insanity but still searching for more.
My dearest drug friend so messed in the mind,
Leaving the life you once had behind.
My dearest drug friend craving your coke,
Blinded by powder and chemical smoke.
My dearest drug friend you're slipping away,
If only you'd stop this damaging way.
My dearest drug friend hold on to your life,
Put down your gun and your blood-shedding knife.
My dearest drug friend stop selling your soul,
Stop playing with needles and paying the toll.
My dearest drug friend you're giving it all,
To drugs you'll bow down, to drugs you will fall.
My dearest drug friend you've chosen to die,
You gave drugs your life and that makes me cry.

Sex Type Drug
Just take it nice and slow
Like jelly in a mould (singin')
Dressed in a perfect skin
You're like a manequin
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're a sex type drug
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're the real thing
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're a sex type drug
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're the real thing
Just need to make you see
Perfection is a sin, yeah
Just feed you like a dog
Just wanna hear you come
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're a sex type drug
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're the real thing
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're a sex type drug
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're the real thing
Sex type thing
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
You feed me like a drug
I lick you up and swallow
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're a sex type drug
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're the real thing
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're a sex type drug
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're the real thing
Woo hoo, oo hoo, you're a sex type drug

You have to nail the right tone because sometimes when you just see his films cold, you're not quite sure. It's the same in - I'm trying to think of other directors with a similar sense - David Lynch's films, Tim's films, some of Cronenberg's stuff.
