If the individual is a unit in a corporate mass, his life is not merely brutish and short, but dull and mechanical.

Politics and institutions

The area marked becomes a unit.
The air captured becomes a unit.
The water canned becomes a unit.
Bound by the unit, the contents struggle.
Anything institutionalized,
Politics will creep in inevitably.

Mechanical Angel

The Mechanical Angel
Is made of tin
Put together with screws
And mixed with sin.

The Mechanical Angel's
Paint never fades.
Underneath her perfect fingers
Hide hidden blades.

The Mechanical Angel
Must constantly grease her joints.
Her nails are sharp
And her teeth filed to points.

The Mechanical Angel's
Head is dusty.
She is uncared for,
She's getting rusty.

The Mechanical Angel
Cannot feel.
She cannot hear, cannot understand,
Her wings are made of steel.

The Mechanical Angel
Is made of tin.
She shuts the world out
And locks herself in.

Nine To Five

The star is in normans office. his day
Of sweat and toil has begun.
Nine to five
Answering phones and dictating letters
Making decisions that affect no one.
Stuck in the office from nine until five
Life is so incredibly dull,
Working from nine to five.
Oh nine to five, nine to five,
Working from nine to five.
And time goes by
The hours tick away.
First seconds,
Then minutes,
Then hours into days.
Each day,
Each week,
Seems just like any other.
All work,
No play,
Its just another day.
Hes caught in a mass of computerised trivia,
Deciphering data for mechanical minds.
Hes lost in the paperwork and up to his eyes,
Hes checking a list thats been checked out before
And hes starting to lose his mind.
Oh nine to five, nine to five,
Working from nine to five.
(repeat).

There Is No Such Thing As An Individual

She looked at me
and asked.
'What is your answer? '

I was startled
and caught up short.

Simple question.

But I did not know
what the answer was.

'Who am I'?
I blurted out
vying for time;
I gave her my name
narrowing it to the millions
of Jim Jones in the world.

But am I my name?

She said

What else.?

'I am Hedi's Father
and Lisa's husband'

but before this response rolled away
into silence
I knew it wasn't enough.

So who else?

'I like hockey' I said
and knew even this
fell short.

How do I single out
the Me among millions?

What could I say
without out offering
fingerprints or DNA?

What would you say?

Maybe I should have given her
an address.
Only I live there.
But my address
is not my essence.

So who
in fact
is the I-
the me,
that I see-
as individual
and precious?

I really didn't
at that point
have an answer.

What about achievements?
.
How many individuals have
my job
and my name?

Fewer still.

This at least narrows it.

But then
the thought came;
I am not an individual.

I am the Me that
has a family and a history
a genealogy;
only me
has that.

I am not an individual
but a person
who can be identified
in the web of relationships
which surround me;
have surrounded me;

which in the end
have defined me.

I am not an individual.

I am all the people who
have influenced me-
nurtured me been kind to me or hurtful.

So there is then
this myth of the individual
which is not so.

But if this is not true
is it not so that much
of society and indeed Democracy itself
is premised

on the creating the conditions
for individual expression;
individual growth?

Is this premise correct
and the individual lives;
or is it that more real
is society and social relationships.?
So which is which?
But then again, one cannot touch society.

Confusing no?

Mechanical Bliss

Mechanical bliss is striking me for what I believe in
A ribbon on the line, and getting in and getting out
Huh, huh, huh ...... huh, huh huh
Was not like this
No, mechanical bliss was not like this at all
The ribbon on the line, and getting in and getting out was not like this
Was not like this, was not like this
Caruthers and smith said that they couldnt come at all
They said that their backs were up against the wall
And getting in and getting out was not like this
Was not like this, was not like this
But a flash of the list, the flick of a switch
A flick of a switch, you gave me a kiss, I couldnt resist
No ooooooooooooooo mechanical bliss
Now ponsonby-smith said he really didnt care
About neville and chippy who really wasent there
And getting in and getting out was not like this
Was not like this
Hes out in the sun, hes sucking his thumb
Hes talking to hum ahhhhhhhh mechanical bliss
Mechanical bliss will not like this, mechanical bliss was not like this at all
The ribbon on the line and getting in and getting out was not like this
Was never, never like this
I couldnt resist the flash of the list
A flick of the switch, the lisp
He talked in a lisp
You gave me a kiss,
You talked in a lisp
You talked in a liiiiiii eh eh eh sp
Mechanical bliss
Oh, no, no, no, no, no,
Nah, nah, nah, nah nah
Dah, da , dah, dah, dah, dah do
Scat!
Dah, da , dah, dah, dah, dah do
O.k. chaps, stiff upper lip!

Check out the Declaration of Independence You think it promises happiness No no no, it talks about the pursuit of happiness. The PURSUIT We've become a nation of wimps We think we're entitled to everything, we want to legislate ourselves into some cozy little cocoon. Well, forget it, Nature Boy. There are no guarantees. Life is nasty, brutish, and short.

Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder” (The Billion-Dollar Question)

We must all stay aware…..,
Of the Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder….,
It’s been increasing for years….,
The Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….! ! !

Can’t dare turn our backs….,
On the Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….,
It’ll sneak up and kill us…,
The Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….! ! !

It’s hard to believe and conceive….
The Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….,
That’s why so many are blind….,
To the Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder …! ! !

We’ve seen the bloody attacks…..,
Of the Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….,
So we must face the facts….,
On the Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….! ! !

Yes they’re after us all…,
The Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….,
Their radical religion condones it….,
The Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder ….! ! !

Can we control it or stop it….,
So it won’t go any further….? ? ?
That’s the billion-dollar question….,
On the Insane Culture Of Mass-Murder …! ! !
