Too Over Qualified

Look!
Simply put.
We are needing today,
To stop making reference to brilliance...
Power, strength and entitlements.
We need someone immediately,
That can masquerade an image of toughness.
All that brilliant stuff,
Did absolutely nothing to cover our incompetence.
We have become the laughing stock of our neighbors.

And frankly,
We have no one to date...
That can successfully charade this symbolic idol.
Although many adore our present leader,
He is making us all look like fools.
Even our objections to his correctness,
Has others mocking us better than any Shakespeare play.

Who else is out there we can blame,
Without exposing too much more of our own ignorance?
We need someone who can text, dance, rap...
Easy on the eye, drinks beer and can play basketball.

I saw you building castles on the beach

I saw you building castles on the beach
and mine were in my mind,
in dreams, in a world out of touch
still out of reach
but so near that I almost
could touch them

and when your eyes found mine
something there connected
with my thoughts, you smiled
and the sea brushed
all your castles away
but that was really ok
and the sky, the sun, the surf
and even the lacking wind
made it a perfect day

and together we walked
into the sea, splashed
and swam to the other side
of the crushing waves
and I wish that every day
could be as carefree as just then.

Summer fun is so grand
It's so fun too play in the sand

The introduction to his heartache began as a child
So its no wonder that he grew up to be so wild
So he protected his feelings in walls he imagined
But castles crumble exposing the frightened child
