I think segregation is bad, I think it's wrong, it's immoral. I'd fight against it with every breath in my body, but you don't need to sit next to a white person to learn how to read and write. The NAACP needs to say that.

I Am My Poem

When you see me,
you see my poems.
For when i breath, i breath out ballads.
But vers libre express my heart.

Should i write in complicated
and rhythmic words to make
my poems deep and beautiful?
My life is complicated already.

Should i write in simple and
enticing words to make
my poems attractive?
My life is not that simple.

Like stream to the river
down to the sea,
so is my poems from my
soul to my spirit down to my body.

You may disapprove me
but come and take a walk
within my soul and see if
you can live there for a moment.

So when i write, must i
invite you to read.
Read if you want to.
I write because the chamber
of soul finds relieve.

The depth of reading

To know I read; to learn I read.
To teach I read; to write I read.
To praise or criticize I read.

Deeper than theists have known.

Multitasking, The Music And The Poem And Nothing

as i write this poem i am downloading music
copying them from the cd to
Windows Media Player for all these Bossa Nova Experience

Call me, A certain Sadness, The Trouble with Hello
The Shadow of Your Smile, Fly Me To the Moon,
NighT aND dAY, hEY lOOK aT tHE sun, HeRE'S a RAiny Day,
Put a LIttle Love Away,
Where is Love?

it takes time to choose the music to load and to check
if everything is proper and so

i also take a glance at poems
the First Fifty Famous Poems of this World
read some again
reviewing how does each word feel and fall and rebound in my
heart

i write some, well, i am not that really serious about what to write
i just write what comes to my head and when i think i ended
the making of this poem

i read what others write, not really admiring their wisdom
or style or what they write there as some trash
garbage, but just the same to while my hours away doing other things

i still read them, building this interest to know what this person who claims to
be a poet is driving at
some nails for hard wood, sounding like carpentry
well, i don't really believe that poetry can change this world
my world
of multitasking, hopping from one task to another, like

island hopping with my friends in this archepielago
from one white sand to another and taking some beers and
juices

these juices of the mind and of the body, lustily flowing from my thighs
as i wipe them and learn to live a pure life
from the perspective of the Holy Pope, oh well, i don't judge other people
and i simply forgive them

like myself, i am not so hard about myself, not even on poetry
since this is just fun
clean fun, writing

opps, another cd to copy now,
i will have

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Paper Mache, Make it Easy on Yourself,
vINCENT, . Breaking Up is Hard with You, All the THINGS you ARe,
LIGHT My FIRE, Love is STRONGER far than WE

and CHopin and bEETHOVEN, AND iL dIVO
AND

AND OF course,

I honestly lOVE you.

Unholy Philosophy or Unholy Mind!

Most often pages of history,
Fight between mighty,
Ended in bloodshed,
Emperors sat not on throne,
But they sat on heap of corpse,
Their coronation day or
mourning day
of Humanity!
With the blood stained hands
wore crown with immoral minds!
Who dared to oppose power of swords!
A few like Ashoka or Alexander,
tortured by own Conscience,
Moved by horror of blood shed,
Put their swords down, bowed before words!

Most often it's fight between egos,
or fight between right and wrong,
Nay both are wrong,
A fight between wrong and wrong!

What is the use in fighting here, power hungers should learn,
Men with corrupt mind can't be right,
And when their hands gain might,
They will always start fight!

Frustrations and fury, love and hate,
All has source indeterminate,
Unholy politics they say,
Unholy philosophy they cry,
Why can't they say,
Human mind is sporadic and stray?

Socrates made to drink Hemlock,
Always differences when ended in deadlock,
One wise should giveup and save life,
Someday will come, clouds disperse,
And earthshines with light of Truth,
Wise head should know, the creator,
Wants to create models here,
Each model is made to teach something,
And teach to evolving mind of humanity,
May be an emperor or a philosopher,
All has to end their story here,
Will have to go back bear handed there!

Super Hero

Chorus:
I will be your Super Hero
But U must understand
If I'm 2 be your Super Hero
U must give me half a chance
Listen 2 my band

I am born unto pverty and fear
I am scorned yet I hold back my tears
There's so much I can and
Will and want 2 do
But I cannot until I get through 2 U

Chorus

I am lucky if I learn 2 read and write
Where I live U must first learn 2 stand and fight
I'm the product of the system

Langston Hughes

Theme for English B

The instructor said,

Go home and write
a page tonight.
And let that page come out of you--
Then, it will be true.

I wonder if it's that simple?
I am twenty-two, colored, born in Winston-Salem.
I went to school there, then Durham, then here
to this college on the hill above Harlem.
I am the only colored student in my class.
The steps from the hill lead down into Harlem,
through a park, then I cross St. Nicholas,
Eighth Avenue, Seventh, and I come to the Y,
the Harlem Branch Y, where I take the elevator
up to my room, sit down, and write this page:

It's not easy to know what is true for you or me
at twenty-two, my age. But I guess I'm what
I feel and see and hear, Harlem, I hear you:
hear you, hear me--we two--you, me, talk on this page.
(I hear New York, too.) Me--who?
Well, I like to eat, sleep, drink, and be in love.
I like to work, read, learn, and understand life.
I like a pipe for a Christmas present,
or records--Bessie, bop, or Bach.
I guess being colored doesn't make me not like
the same things other folks like who are other races.
So will my page be colored that I write?

Being me, it will not be white.
But it will be
a part of you, instructor.
You are white--
yet a part of me, as I am a part of you.
That's American.
Sometimes perhaps you don't want to be a part of me.
Nor do I often want to be a part of you.
But we are, that's true!
As I learn from you,
I guess you learn from me--
although you're older--and white--
and somewhat more free.

This is my page for English B.

Wing Pages Of The Butterfly

at the nursery
while people
are at purchase
and at transactions
a blue butterfly
comes by
and opens its pages to me
swift and quick
and it says to me:
'Read! Read!
Read my pages! '

'I can’t read, '
I say,
amused
at this brash butterfly

'Read and write!
Read and write
about me,
and all flitting butterflies
Read
and write, you silly! '
it commands

And so I read
and I copy
and these are the words
the words from those
pages
the butterfly
holds up to me

Nobody Going Tell Me

Nobody going tell me
What to do or say
I'm strong and indepence person
I can turn whatever I want up as loud I want to
Nobody going tell me
Who I'm because that's up to me to decide
This is me
You have to learn to accept it
I'm just a teenager
I just want to have a great time and not stress out
If I want to go to party or football games I'm going to go
This is great things I'm going to miss out on
If I don't go
You need to trust me
I be safe and I'm enough to know what is
Difference between right and wrong
Nobody going tell me
It's my decision and future
To do what I want in life
If I need help I will come to you
I will listen to you and do what you want me not to do
Only if there good reason and important
I will make the best choice
If I don't I will learn from my mistakes and
Just don't be over protective of me
Nobody going tell me
What I can't or can eat
I'm adult now
It's my health and body
So don't worry too much
I'm responibility peson
I'm not person who make you mad or not believe in me anymore
You taught everything I need to know
Now I have to leave and start my life
Thank you for all you do for me
Nobody going tell me

Learn

when broken
learn
when happy
learn
when bored
learn
when you float and does not know what to do
learn just the same
when filled with idealism
learn
when fed with what you cannot swallow
learn again
when the times get rough and you want to kill yourself
learn, learn, learn
you still have many things to learn
faces of life
bodies of life
learn, learn, learn everything
do not surrender

for in truth, you do not do what you only want
you will also do what you are told to do
no questions asked
or you will be left out
or you will be not a part of the picture
this life
learn, learn, learn, always learn
do not surrender
live, learn, live, learn
you will soon do all that others will tell you
learn, learn and learn again

and sooner you will have learned everything
and then do what you want to do
with firm conviction
you know now what is right
and that is what you will do,

now without even being told
you have become yourself

but still learn, learn, and learn again
because

you might be wrong,
try thinking some more, learn
relearn, learn, learn, learn, forevermore....

Young Americans

There's something wrong and it's our government.
Is this the way that it has always been.
We're being led by used car lot salesman.
But what to do..
The time has come to fight my friends.
Don't patronize me as if my brain is shallow.
Put a price on my head i'll put a tag on your toe.
A scandal in the white house please say it ain't so.
You cannot lie to me because the american dream isn't as it seems.
I read the news another scandal, a lie.
I hear your speech i watch the bullshit fly.
When passed the day that mortality died but what to do.
The time has come to fight my friends.
The rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer the writing's on the wall.
All the president's men sit like fattened cats smoking cigars inside the white house walls.
A transient makes his bed from cardboard boxes.
His hotel the steps of capital hill. so what's the price of happiness for you my friend, a hundred grand or a five dollar bill?
There's something wrong and it's our government.
Is this the way that it has always been?
Can't sit and watch as our country descends.
But what to do..
The time has come to fight my friends 'cause we are young americans.

I learn when I listen
I learn when I read
I learn from children

I learn from animals
I learn from nature
I learn how to breathe

My Education

At school I sometimes read a book,
And learned a lot of lessons;
Some small amount of pains I took,
And showed much acquiescence
In what my masters said, good men!
Yet after all I quite
Forgot the most of it: but then
I learned to write.

At Lincoln's Inn I'd read a brief,
Abstract a title, study
Great paper-piles, beyond belief
Inelegant and muddy:
The whole of these as time went by
I soon forgot: indeed
I tried to: yes: but by and by
I learned to read.

By help of Latin, Greek and Law
I now can write and read too:
Then perish each forgotten saw,
Each fact I do not need too:
But still whichever way I turn
At one sad task I stick:
I fear that I shall never learn
Arithmetic.
