you are like are brother to me
i know you are my mother's baby brother
but i decide that you are my brother
cause you have been there for me
since i was born

Unseen

something's wrong with mother always cleaning the house
and father complains for she does nothing but sweep and scrub
and dust and wipe and rub,
the floors are shiny and father does not like it
he may slide and the children too
and each may hurt the body, but mother cannot be stopped
and we complain like what father does, but mother does not
really mind, for she has become so hardheaded because father
slaps her and we make her deaf with our grumblings

until then when mother died and father cried and we felt we had all our
lives wasted, but there was one in the family who smiled
someone who thought that mother simply did what she liked best
clean the dirt, mop the floors, get all the spider's cobwebs

someone sees the beauty of mother, she's doing her chores still
but now unseen

My parents are two, grandparents four

I am known by my father, his father,
And his father and so on by male side.

Mother and father and so on are ignored.

My fathers’ mother and grandfather’s
Mother and so on go to oblivion.

All women from whom I have drawn
Their genes have been shut out.

Listen To Your Mother

'Wait till your Father get's home'
that was what my Mother would say
but he'd see me all well behaved
so I'd be off out again to play.
'Look at the state of your clothes'
that was what my Mother would say
but I'd tell her someone pushed me over
when really I'd played Football most of the day.
'Don't you forget to do your homework'
that was what my Mother would say
but instead of writing about Kings of England
I'd be reading about Footballers like Greaves and Pele.
'Your a right little cheeky Monkey '
that was what my Mother would say
but I'd tell her that she loved me really
which always seemed to make her day.
'I won't be around for ever you know'
that was what my mother used to say
'What do you mean of course you will
you'll be here in the house all old and Grey.'
'I really miss your Mother you know '
that was what my Father used to say
but I thought she'd be here forever
nobody told me that Mothers can pass away.
But we had a great Mother and Son relationship
and she knew I was just being a young lad
but when I'm down I just think of her
and those thoughts always make me feel glad.

Seek And 'Yea' Shall Find

Do what?
Validate my background and claims?
Who writes your material?
That's funny.
You have any tissue?
You are too much.
That's funny!
Stop it.
You're making me laugh too hard.
My stomach hurts.

First of all,
I am not the one in doubt.
Second of all,
I've already done the leg work.
And number three?
I am not about to do number two for you...
Again!
We are not that close.

I do have my private moments, you know?

If you are in need to prove,
I have done a number two...
I have also done a number one.
And I'm not in the mood to do either one.
However,
That's Mother Nature's department.

All my 'stuff' has been out in the open,
Enough.
And most of my lfe.
I am surprise you haven't smelled it by now.
Yes!
I've done some 'stinky' stuff.
I'm proud of it.
But it still 'stank'.
You catch my drift?

Seek and 'yea' shall find!
And you know where that's from?
At least I hope you do.
My mother introduced my sisters and me to church.
And...
Well,
I am not going to do anything to make it easier for you,
To prove I exist.
This I already know with certainty.

Remember...
Seek and 'yea' shall find.
The key word in use here is 'yea'.
Meaning 'you' gotta do what you've got to do.
I've already done it.

The Angry Young Man

He had so much anger, so much hate
To lash out at someone he couldn’t wait
An innocent bystander walking down the street
This was the one that he would beat.

If she had suspected what lied ahead
She would have turned her back and fled.
With fists flaring he knocked her to the ground
Her jaw broken - she couldn’t make a sound
They say they don’t know how she survived
With the extent of her injuries
they was sure she would die.

She gave a description of what he looked like
And before blacking out she started to fight
They caught him with the description she gave
They saw that he was full of anger and rage.

They say from his step father he had been abused
And fighting back was of no use.
His mother did not believe what he had said
And she turned - and sent him to bed.

He now blamed his mother for what
His step father had done
no one to turn to, no where to run.
She should have - defended her son.

He and his step father are both in jail
Because his mother had truly failed
To hold a man she did not watch her son
Now look at what he has gone and done.

Authorship

You say that father write a lot of books, but what he write I don't
understand.
He was reading to you all the evening, but could you really
make out what he meant?
What nice stores, mother, you can tell us! Why can't father
write like that, I wonder?
Did he never hear from his own mother stories of giants and
fairies and princesses?
Has he forgotten them all?
Often when he gets late for his bath you have to and call him
an hundred times.
You wait and keep his dishes warm for him, but he goes on
writing and forgets.
Father always plays at making books.
If ever I go to play in father's room, you come and call me,
"What a naughty child!"
If I make the slightest noise you say, "Don't you see that
father's at his work?"
What's the fun of always writing and writing?
When I take up father's pen or pencil and write upon his book
just as he does,-a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,-why do you get cross with me
then, mother?
You never say a word when father writes.
When my father wastes such heaps of paper, mother, you don't
seem to mind at all.
But if I take only one sheet to take a boat with, you say,
"Child, how troublesome you are!"
What do you think of father's spoiling sheets and sheets of
paper with black marks all over both sides?
