Too Late To Say Sorry
“Let me in, ” said the man as he rattled the gates.
“Go away; ” said Peter, “you’re not welcome here.”
“Let me in I say, ” said the angry man once more.
“Move on you’re causing a queue, ” said someone near.
“Shut your mouth, ” said the man rattling the gates.
“Go away; ” said Peter, “you’re wasting my time.”
“Hey you, the one with the mouth holding up the queue
you belong in hell with the rest of your kind.”
“I’m not going to hell, ” said the man at the gate.
“You have no choice the gates aren’t open to you.”
“I admit I was evil once, but that was before I died
I’ve changed and I want to start anew.”
“Your fate’s been decided, ” said a voice from behind,
“You may as well accept what’s coming to you.
You have to pay the price for the evil you’ve done
and there’s no way to escape what’s due.”
“Why won’t you listen to a man that’s made mistakes?

When Hell Is Hell
if you keep on hiding
your skin gets too dark and like the night
it will be
accompanied by that unnecessary
coldness of
stone that knows what numb
what silence
tolerated
so many of them
those who have faced the harshness of opening
tell you, open up open up
since you are a closed gate
a locked door
a tight bud
they tell you
open up or you die
or you have no meaning at all
or you are
a brittle bread
a tick afraid of the light of the bulb
in that old
Persian carpet
and so you open up
to the grass to the sun to the clouds
and you are badly hurt
skin burning like paper
bones lighting up like firewood
you run like hell and hell is hell

Last night was so heavenly peaceful

Earthworm Descent
Love watching earthworms
at night, with a flash light
shining on them as
they make their descent
into the ground.
So slimy are they
but so fun to try
and catch them
before they make
their descent
into the ground.
As a child used
to go into backyard
in search of the
earthworm watching
as it burrows into
the soil,
tying so hard to
crab them as they
slip through my fingers
and make their
descent into the ground.
Would just try to
catch them for
fun, not fishing
putting them in
a jar and watching
them as they
would burrow into
the soil.
Later would let
them go without
harm and watching
as they made
their descent
into the ground.
