Screenplays I didn't really care about, journalism, travel books, getting my writer friends to write about their dreams or something. I just determined to write the books I had to write.

I don't write down my experiences, but I have a very decent memory. I have tons of books in which I write down phrases as they occur to me. That's how I write songs. I'll need a line and I'll go through the books and find it, the right rhyme and everything.

School
Continually its progressions and rows,
the teacher is on patrol,
his cane sometimes swishes painfully,
there are theorems and more theorems
which are driving us nuts
with differentiation and other calculations,
and we are taught about Ballot and Christaller
and models are all around me,
one after the other they do pass
while there's no end to examination papers
and the girls are lovely
but continually I am caned
and this is why I find high school
somewhat bewitching.

Of all the ways of acquiring books, writing them oneself is regarded as the most praiseworthy method. Writers are really people who write books not because they are poor, but because they are dissatisfied with the books which they could buy but do not like.

I think the reason working-class people don't write books is because they are encouraged to believe that only certain people are permitted to write books.

We Wait And We Wonder
We stand, hang our heads disbelieving
then not knowing how could such a thing be wrong
we wonder just what must they be thinking
to take a life of one so young
So tell me when will it be over now, how soon?
how far must they go, to prove to you?
We wait and we wonder how this happened
killing the old, the innocent, the young
while sons follow in fathers footsteps not understanding
that what they do could somehow be so wrong
So tell me when will tit be over now, how soon?
how far must they go, to prove to you?
So we will wait and we'll wonder
No regrets, no forgiveness, no compassion
these brave heroes only know to hit and run
slowly my sadness turns to rage and we wonder
how can these scars ever heal, when all is said and done
So tell me when will it be over now, how soon?
how many tears must fall to prove to you?
please tell me, when will it be over now, how soon?
and how far must they go, to prove to you?
So we wait and we wonder

You Want Me To Prove…
You want me to prove
You that I love
You, jolly Lily
Every time I see
You, you turn me into
A docile dove
The serum of my body
Boils on the stove
Of your coup d’oeil
You woke me up
It is an instant réveil
Yes, I became your zombie
You pumped me up
Yes, you turned me into
Whatever is your desire
You injected the fire
In my veins, in my soul
And I became your fool.
You want me to prove
That I love
You, Lily flowers
This is a done deal
You know how I feel
About the countless hours
That I spent in your heaven
At this stage of the game
All theorems have been proven
We don’t need to be blême and tame
It is an eternal spring in your company
Even when, there is a blizzard outside
I am naturally happy by your side
You have enough honey
For my sweet tooth
You are my chalice and I, your bee
And everything is mellifluous and smooth.

On Books
Books are my first love, I’m so proud to read;
They give me knowledge and help life to lead;
Hours, days just pass by, by reading life-time;
Life would not be worth, if not for my rhyme.
Great are those people who write books all life;
Burning just candles, with Goose-quills in strife;
Tired of writing though day-long or night,
They keep on writing in such a bad light.
Books serve a great cause; their value can’t cease;
It takes years to write but reading is ease;
Book-makers struggle to print a few books;
And keep spending time to, improve their looks.
Some find their way to libraries in town;
Some remain untouched and nev’r taken down;
Silver-fish, Moths eat the books that are old;
Some are gone obsolete, some sold like gold.
Some are in tatters and must be rebound;
Books are Man’s best friends where solace is found;
Reading for long hours, does help you to learn;
Books give much knowledge and wisdom to men.
Read books with great care whose weight is in gold;
Serve generations though they may be old;
Source of much Info, deserving respect;
Books are life-partners whom you ne’er reject!

Sonnet For Homework
Okay, sonnet for homework.
I'm in the library, ready to write.
My notebook thick, pen poised to write on it.
My mind open, ready to get it right.
My view? The sky and billowing white clouds,
Tip of trees languidly blowing in the breeze.
I cherish the quiet, the lask of crowds
But the outdoor view is merely a tease.
Surrounded by stacks of books here I sit.
Slight noises of people, paper and books.
A constant motor's hum and bit by bit
I write this poem, concerned with how it looks.
Does it make sense, read well, and does it scan?
Or instead, perhaps some trash for the can?

We Wait & We Wonder
to the outsider it seems that we in britain live daily under the cloud of terrorism. that familiarity sometimes makes you think of it as almost normal, then suddenly something will happen...
We stand, hang our heads disbelieving
Then not knowing how could such a thing be wrong
We wonder just what they must be thinking
To take a life of one so young
So tell me when will it be over now, how soon?
How far must we go, to prove to you?
We wait and we wonder how this happened
Killing the old, the innocent, the young
While sons follow in fathers footsteps not understanding
That what they do could somehow be so wrong
So tell me when will it be over now, how soon?
How far must we go, to prove to you?
So we will wait and well wonder
No regrets, no forgiveness, no compasssion
These brave heroes only know to hit and run
Slowly my sadness turns to rage and we wonder
How can these scars ever heal, when all is said and done
So tell me when will it be over now, how soon?
How many tears must fall to prove to you?
Please tell me, when will it be over now, how soon?
And how far must they go, to prove to you?
So we wait and we wonder

A Point To Prove
Every child knows its mother more than its father,
That is why i am crying in the wilderness of Africa!
I have a point to prove,
I have a mind to tell,
I have a poem to write,
In the wilderness of Africa to prove a point;
What about the plethora of Authors who do write?
What about they who write about Africa? ! !
Complex as it may be,
I am an African with a vision.
The obnoxious acts of slavery brought about,
The spread of the Africans worldwide;
Yesterday was the Slavery Days but,
Today is for you and me to tell the truth.
Every child knows its mother more than its father,
That is why i have a point to prove to you;
This world is our home but,
Why should some live and others starve?
Bombs with huge sums of money to invest on,
While many in this world have no food to eat;
Tomorrow comes and, what have you to say?

If the book we are reading does not wake us, as with a fist hammering on our skulls, then why do we read it Good God, we also would be happy if we had no books and such books that make us happy we could, if need be, write ourselves. What we must have are those books that come on us like ill fortune, like the death of one we love better than ourselves, like suicide. A book must be an ice axe to break the sea frozen inside us.

Sometimes I Wonder
at this moment, when i begin to write again
another set of poems
(i stop for a while, away from official matters
this business of the mind thinking
clearly and logically, setting aside premises
and dogmas and
theorems, not wanting any proof of my sanity
and reasonableness
i relax a bit, on some matters of the heart
the emotions all colored wildly like a dream
a wet dream, to be specific....
sometimes i ask, if i can still write about
libido, the wanton directionless cravings of the thighs
and the caprices of the fingers...
i get lost with reason and i become as firm as an
iron rod, shunning feelings, oh, how do i like to be a rock?
it is sad to be numb. I detest when this happens
as a matter of everyday business, and i become tense
if at all, i have ceased to be human, or if i have changed
myself suddenly to be nothing but a cabinet or a desk
or a mess in front of my eyes...
i daydream, once i was a young man, once i was so carefree
that was the time when poetry was vibrating like a
man's flesh between my legs...
i miss the river and the baths and the fish swimming under my belly.
i miss the songs of the frogs, how they prayed for rain and how
the celebrate when it comes.
i miss the summer months of April and May when love was as
abundant as bees.
I miss you. Your gaze burns me.
Your kiss makes me feel so alive.
thinking about you, yes, about love in abundance, and then
oh, the ecstasy of words.
i have written, i shall speak, when you return.
I have written the happy poem, tell me when
shall i write it again.

Books
The universe (which others call the library). . .
-Jorge Luis Borges
Books which are stitched up the center with coarse white thread
Books on the beach with sunglass-colored pages
Books about food with pictures of weeping grapefruits
Books about baking bread with browned corners
Books about long-haired Frenchmen with uncut pages
Books of erotic engravings with pages that stick
Books about inns whose stars have sputtered out
Books of illuminations surrounded by darkness
Books with blank pages & printed margins
Books with fanatical footnotes in no-point type
Books with book lice
Books with rice-paper pastings
Books with book fungus blooming over their pages
Books with pages of skin with flesh-colored bindings
Books by men in love with the letter O
Books which smell of earth whose pages turn

Go West
Safe on the interstate
New york is three thousand miles away
And Im not looking forward to following through
But its better than always running back into you
Ive closed my eyes and my bank account
And gone west, young man
Take off the parking brake
Go coasting into a different state and Im not looking forward to missing you
But I must have something better to do
Ive got to tear my life apart and go west, young man
And it feels like Ive got something to prove
But in some ways its just something to do
My friends turn me around and say, you go west, young man
Stepping down off my platform shoes
69 in the afternoon
And Im waiting for someone in the know
Like pirner tells me on the radio
Says take it from someone whos been there before
You go west, young man and Im looking for somebody to do my thinking for me till I come through
The state-line highway sign says you have gone west, young man
And it feels like Ive got something to prove
But in some ways its just something to do
The state-line highway sign says you have gone west, young man
