Even now, after whatever gains feminism has made in involving fathers in the rearing of their children, I still think virtually all of us spend the most formative years of our lives very much in the presence of women.

Fathers Are The Men From Sky

Fathers, the men who are like a pen
We never can see whatever is going on inside them
But suddenly that pen is finished and then?

Fathers, the men who try hard for the pleasure of their family
They just want the less for themselves because of the comfort of their children
Looking forward to spend a day with his family in a place that is hilly

Fathers, the men who justify the wishes of their children to their own wishes
They just live to see the victory of their children and family
But their life sometimes is as short as the golden fishes

Fathers, the men who are noble, they leave their tired face out of the house's door
They came in with a happy face, but we know they are tired from inside
We know that they are sad from the core.

Fathers, the men who listen to the pain of family members
People who are powerful to solve the problems and hard conditions
But no one has the ear to understand them; they just talk with the embers

Fathers,
Warm and kind people who never bother

Fathers,
Who are unique in their way, after them there is no tother

Fathers,
Are the men who are like the kind brothers.

ADORABLE ARE WOMEN AS MOTHERS (A Mother’s Day Acrostic)

Adorable are women as mothers!
Detestable when they can kill children;
Obtainable when purchased for a sum;
Reputable when they can reach great heights;
Amicable are women as sisters;
Believable are women when good wives;
Lovable are women as grand-daughters;
Enviable are women as daughters.

Acceptable when pining for some love;
Remarkable when sacrificing lots;
Exaltable when rearing children fine.

Worshipable for keeping peace at home;
Observable when attention-seeking;
Manageable when husbands earn enough;
Excusable for love of ornaments;
Notable for patience exemplary.

Accessible to children in their needs;
Sensible when fathers become drunkards;

Memorable for timely good advice;
Objectionable when pride and lust engulfs;
Terrible when seeking revenge on one;
Horrible as cruel mothers-in-law;
Enjoyable in love-making / romance;
Reliable amidst all kinds of strife;
Salvageable when shown some kind of love!

Women Who Are Well-behaved

Women who are well-behaved
do not make history, and they
take second place to the depraved,
whom history gives right of way,
for though officially the word condemns
the women who’re considered lawless,
they’re given diamonds and gems
for being flexible, not flawless.

Kathryn Harrison reviews “Well-Behaved Women Seldom Make History” by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich (“We’re No Angels, ” NYT, September 30,2007) :
Ulrich, a Harvard historian whose “Midwife’s Tale” won the 1991 Pulitzer Prize for history, uses “three classic works in Western feminism” as a springboard for examining the theme of “bad” behavior. Could the popularity of her slogan, she wondered, be explained by “feminism, postfeminism or something much older? ” The answer emerges in Ulrich’s choice of texts: Christine de Pizan’s “Book of the City of Ladies, ” written in 1405; Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s “Eighty Years and More, ” published in 1898; and “A Room of One’s Own, ” based on two lectures Virginia Woolf gave in 1928 — all works by women who “turned to history as a way of making sense of their own lives.” History, Ulrich reminds us, “isn’t just what happens in the past, ” but what we choose to remember. As much invention as discovery, history attempts to make the chaotic present into a coherent picture by comparing it to images, equally artificial, fashioned from events long past. Pizan, Stanton, Woolf: three women with “intellectual fathers” and “domestic mothers, ” who were “raised in settings that simultaneously encouraged and thwarted their love of learning” and “married men who supported their intellectual ambitions.” For each, her “moment of illumination came through an encounter with an odious book” expressing man’s “disdain” for women. Pizan responded to a 15th- century satire containing “diatribes” against her sex, Stanton to law tomes that set forth the rights of husbands and fathers over their wives and daughters, Woolf to “The Mental, Moral and Physical Inferiority of the Female Sex, ” an imagined history representing what she discovered in the reading room of the British Museum.

Women Raising Their Boys

Women raising their boys,
And alone.
Do it with the expectation,
A teaching them to be fathers...
Will be different,
From the ones they've known.

But can a women teach a boy,
To become the best man he can?
And within his mind,
Will that boy comprehend...
What it takes to treat a woman.
With a respectful understanding?
And this to a boy from a woman,
Is taught as a lesson to become understood?

Women raising their boys,
And alone.
Without a father around...
Can be beneficial,
If those lessons are solid and sound.

If women raising their boys,
And alone..
Seek to find more men around to be found,
Will their raising of boys to become men...
And not boys to be fathers,
Develop more men being fathers...
To their fatherless boys

And,
Will someday...
When those boys become men,
Will this make more women proud of them?
Will these boys grow into becoming,
Accountable men?
Understand it takes more,
Than just the act...
Than to produce the fathering of children?

Trouser Enthusiast

Feminism is my middle name,
For I fight for the right for female empowerment,
I don't like women being treated like second class citizens,
I want all women to have equal opportunities,
To live in the same community with the same rights,
I am glad women have the vote,
That there're female doctors, nurses, lawyers and the suchlike,
For I am a trouser enthusiast through and through,
But I am not butch, although I do wear lipstick,
For women shouldn't have to look like a girl,
Talk like a man and think like a woman,
Women should not have to change into something they're not,
But feminism has taken charge for the century just gone,
Women fighting for their social freedom and not allowing themselves,
To be treated like a sex object, for a woman isn't just a body:
A woman has a brain and deserves to be treated with respect,
Not to be treated in an inferior way,
And women have learnt to wear the trousers in the relationship,
And don't accept or tolerate abuse and won't allow themselves to be used,
For this is derogatory and the lowest of the low,
And all women, young and old, need to know,
That they deserve respect in any relationship and any violent man,
Needs to be kicked to the kerb and shown the door.

Singled

Hands are full, when left alone to care,
As the duties call them to the fighting fare,
To the oil rigs and to the distant blooms,
Responsibilities rest on these petite shoulders,
Apart from the own career, two's work,
As the father and the mother, one becomes,
Thought of inevitable along with fear and tears,
Children act differently in front of their fathers,
Mothers are their toys to play the emotion with,
Married, but singled as their fathers at work,
The Female friends keep comfortable distance,
The male friends may come closer for attendance,
as the dirty flies smell the sweet jack fruits,
As the clumsy full moon gains attention,
These women are so bright under clear vision,
But they stand erect with their respect intact,
Treasuring the welfare of the family in every breath,
These women are the pillars for universal brotherhood.

A centenarian, a curse.

A woman centenarian lives or struggles.
She witnessed many deaths
In her son, son-in-law and daughter-in-law,
Lost the love of her children,
Not to say children’s children,
Lost the awe of women at home,
And passes like an abject of neglect,
Amidst utter loneliness,
With no companion at all to talk to,
Without sleep and without engagement,
With weak limbs and weak mind,
Without teeth and with out sight.
All hail, she lives a hundred years!

We're In A Battle That Cannot Be Won

My children loved me till my wife cheated,
Our relationship was really strong,
Now from their lives I've been deleted,
Why, I never did anything wrong.

When I went to court to gain access,
I was made to feel I was to blame,
Why when I wasn't the one to transgress,
Should I be made to feel shame.

Children are better off with ther Mother,
That's what the experts say is the rule,
As parents they are like no other,
Whoever said that is a fool.

As a Father I know this is so untrue,
We love our children that is a fact,
But Mothers have rights no man will undo,
That's why so many Fathers have cracked.

No account was taken of her cheating,
Or that her marriage vows were a lie,
My appearance in court was quite fleeting,
It was over before I could ask why.

I've to pay for my kids I no longer see,
If it wasn't so sick it'd be funny,
I don't mind paying but between you and me,
My children won't see any money.

I've lost my children as well as my house,
Her cheating caused me such tension,
To add insult to injury the cheating louse,
Then demanded half of my personal pension.

Fathers are nothing but sperm banks,
In courts they are treated like dirt,
They are run by a bunch of inept cranks,
Who think Dads don't feel any hurt.

Some children are poisoned against their Dad,
The Mother will then change their name,
What really drives a Father mad,
Is to some Mothers it becomes a sick game.

They're then branded with the title of deadbeat,
Then into obscurity they will fade,
This is all caused by a lying cheat,
Who every week still expects to be paid.

The pressure then becomes so hard to bear,
He will lose the will to live on,
Society will say he just doesn't care,
No-one will notice when he's finally gone.

Friends say one day the truth will come out,
When they find out they'll come back to you,
Though they're trying to be kind I just want to shout,
Those missed years I can never undo.

Absent Fathers are not all uncaring scum,
They have feelings which are really strong,
Society's attitude is really dumb,
The way we are treated is so wrong.

To those children who think their Fathers don't care,
I would never make up a lie,
As a broken man please be aware,
I will love you till the day I die.

Decent Fathers are being attacked,
By social services and courts we're outdone,
We are treated like dirt that is a fact,

Feminism is dated? Yes, for privileged women like my daughter and all of us here today, but not for most of our sisters in the rest of the world who are still forced into premature marriage, prostitution, forced labor - they have children that they don't want or they cannot feed.

My Fathers Eyes

(by eric clapton)
Sailing down behind the sun,
Waiting for my prince to come.
Praying for the healing rain
To restore my soul again.
Just a toerag on the run.
How did I get here?
What have I done?
When will all my hopes arise?
How will I know him?
When I look in my fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
When I look in my fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
Then the light begins to shine
And I hear those ancient lullabies.
And as I watch this seedling grow,
Feel my heart start to overflow.
Where do I find the words to say?
How do I teach him?
What do we play?
Bit by bit, Ive realized
Thats when I need them,
Thats when I need my fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
Thats when I need my fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
Then the jagged edge appears
Through the distant clouds of tears.
Im like a bridge that was washed away;
My foundations were made of clay.
As my soul slides down to die.
How could I lose him?
What did I try?
Bit by bit, Ive realized
That he was here with me;
I looked into my fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
I looked into my fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.
I looked into my fathers eyes.
My fathers eyes.

None of Them Have Men In Their Lives

None of them have men in their lives.
The boys that were raised...
Stayed boys.
Encouraged to do what boys do.
To go outside and play.
Games they would do all day.

None of them have men in their lives.
They were taught to criticize the ones that tried.
They would mock their attempts.
To convince the efforts made...
Were not up to par.
And less than grade A.
Leaving children to be raised by women...
To degrade any man that came their way!

None of them have men in their lives.
Because they do not recognize what one is.
They seek an image...
Portrayed by society.
And they wait for society to create for them...
Men that society has diminished,
With false images.

And none of them will ever find,
A man who can duck bullets and flies!
Or escape criticism...
For the things he does and tries.
There will never be a man,
To be who he is in their eyes.
They have all been lied to!
And that's why...
None of them have men in their lives!

Not even the boys who too seek men...
To show the women they have found at least one.
One that had a mind...
And did no prison time!
Or played games,
Like boys who grow up to look like men do!

None of them have men in their lives.
Since the ones who know they are,
Men.
Have chosen not to have anything to do with them.
Believing they are just as rare as true women.
So...
They fly alone solo!

Mammy

I often wonder how
Life clicks because
They don't make women now
Like Mammy was.
When broods of two or three
Content most men,
How wonderful was she
With children ten!

Though sixty years have gone,
As I look back,
I see her rise at dawn,
Our boots to black;
Pull us from drowsy bed,
Wet sponge to pass,
And speed us porridge fed
To morning class.

Our duds to make and mend,
Far into night,
O'er needle she would spend
By bleary light.
Yet as her head drooped low,
With withered hair,
It seemed the candle glow
Made halo there.

And so with silvered pow
I sigh because
They don't make women now
Like Mammy was.
