Dont Waste Your Time
Mary j blige & aretha franklin
[mary]
Lately Ive got this funny feeling
Something dont feel the same
But hes telling me Im the one to blame
Yes I know he still gives me good loving
But when hes deep inside
Theres somebody else on his mind
1 - [aretha]dont waste your time
[mary] but it gets so hard to know
[aretha]just walk away
[mary] you say that I got to let go
[both] seen it a millions times before
[aretha]you shouldnt take his stuff no more
[mary] cant waste my time
[aretha]girl its not hard to know
[mary] should walk away
[aretha]oh youve got to let it go
[both] seen it a millions times before
[mary] shouldnt take his sh** no more
[aretha]
Sister girl, sister girl
Its much deeper than what youre thinking
When something dont feel the same
Yeah you better believe his love has change
(and I have been telling you, telling you)
And what youre telling me
(its been hurting me, hurting me)
It aint, it aint complete
Hes got a sweetie on the side
Stop making truth, out of his lies
Repeat 1
[aretha & mary]
Whats the point of love
When you got no trust
Whats the point of staying
When you seen enough
Whats the point of giving
What he dont deserve
[mary]
He dont deserve it
No you dont deserve it
[aretha]
Oh whats the point of feeling
[aretha & mary]
Like theres nothing inside
Whats the point of saying
That you still got your pride
Whats the point of giving
What he dont deserve
This is the last time
Im gonna love you
Repeat 1

If a song's about something I've experienced or that could've happened to me it's good. But if it's alien to me, I couldn't lend anything to it. Because that's what soul is all about.

Respect's Disappearance
What troubles me
Is the lack of respect
Respect jumped off the bridge
10 years after Aretha Franklin's single
Hit the charts
It is almost as if
It was the last ditch effort
To keep it among us
Now it has vanished
With it
Our souls and patience
Everything that was once good
Is now just a distant memory
On a photograph

Franklins fishes
Franklin went fishing in his favorite dream
Franklin fishes to him never mean
thats why Franklin only fishes in his dreams
Franklin can fish as long as he likes
that is until his brain turns on his lights
no monsters here no time for such frights
cause the fishing good all Franklins nights
Franklin Franklin such a good boy
Franklins dream fishes his simple life joy

Mockingbird Franklin
Shes never known acceptance
Shes never known the world
She says I like to call myself m
But my real name is mockingbird
Mockingbird franklin
So how do you do
Mockingbird franklin
Im a lot like you
She says her mother is gone now
She says her mother got killed
I said Im sorry but is it true
Did she really name you mockingbird
Mockingbird franklin
Broke your heart in two
Mockingbird franklin
Im a lot like you
Mockingbird dont you change
Just because youre not like them
Oh mockingbird youre not the same
Alone along the sidewalk
Her steps are barely heard
Its kinda funny that its her name
cus shes nothing like a mockingbird
Nothing like a mockingbird
Mockingbird franklin
Dont it get to you
Mockingbird franklin
Im a lot like you
Im a lot like you
Its true

Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves
Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin
Now there was a time when they used to say
That behind every - "great man."
There had to be a - "great woman."
But in these times of change you know
That it's no longer true.
So we're comin' out of the kitchen
'Cause there's somethin' we forgot to say to you (we say)
Sisters are doin' it for themselves.
Standin' on their own two feet.
And ringin' on their own bells.
Sisters are doin' it for themselves.
Now this is a song to celebrate
The conscious liberation of the female state!
Mothers - daughters and their daughters too.
Woman to woman
We're singin' with you.
The "inferior sex" got a new exterior
We got doctors

Where Is My Family At?
I sit at home by myself,
I think of days gone by,
Of family members who left me,
Then I begin to cry.
I repent unto Jesus,
I'm not suppose to look back,
I feel so lonely now and then,
But where is my family at?
I hear a soft still voice,
My son Franklin try to understand,
Your family is not behind you,
But waiting in the promise land.
Behind you is a thing called past,
Where nothing exist at all,
You think of days gone from you,
Events in time do you recall.
Trust in me my little one,
Never let go of my hand,
I am leading you to your family,
Over in my promised land.
Never a tear in there eyes,
Happy smiles for ever more,
Hold my hand, it will not be long,
We will arrive on Heavens shore.

Does It Hurt? Or...Do You Get Use To It?
They say,
U b illin'
When U aint chilled!
Today's youth have their on views.
And language too.
With their own emphasis on what to like...
Dislike.
And for whatever the purpose.
'That needs to be kicked to the curb,
If it disturbs.'
And if it's thought to be 'sick'?
That's hip to them.
'Did you hear that?
That's SICK.
I love it! '
And those of us who have arrived to live,
To see 'dinosaur' years...
Are blessed!
Few of these kids pay us any attention.
And those who seek wisdom and approach...
Want to know...
'Don't you get tired of being SO old?
Does it hurt?
Or...
Do you get use to it?
My grandfather drinks.
He use to smoke pot!
But I made him stop!
Today's quality isn't as good as it use to be! '
Do you kids know 'anything' about respect?
At all?
'I like her music! '
Who's music?
'Aretha Franklin.'
