Albert Einstein

The most beautiful and most profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. So to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that which is impenetretrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms-this knowledge, this feeling is at the center of true religiousness.

Dead Man, Dead Man

Uttering idle words from a reprobate mind,
Clinging to strange promises, dying on the vine,
Never bein able to separate the good from the bad,
Ooh, I cant stand it, I cant stand it,
Its makin me feel so sad.
Dead man, dead man,
When will you arise?
Cobwebs in your mind,
Dust upon your eyes.
Satan got you by the heel, theres a birds nest in your hair.
Do you have any faith at all? do you have any love to share?
The way that you hold your head, cursin God with every move,
Ooh, I cant stand it, I cant stand it,
What are you tryin to prove?
Dead man, dead man,
When will you arise?
Cobwebs in your mind,
Dust upon your eyes.
The glamour and the bright lights and the politics of sin,
The ghetto that you build for me is the one you end up in,
The race of the engine that overrules your heart,
Ooh, I cant stand it, I cant stand it,
Pretending that youre so smart.
Dead man, dead man,
When will you arise?
Cobwebs in your mind,
Dust upon your eyes.
What are you tryin to overpower me with, the doctrine or the gun?
My back is already to the wall, where can I run?
The tuxedo that youre wearin, the flower in your lapel,
Ooh, I cant stand it, I cant stand it,
You wanna take me down to hell.
Dead man, dead man,
When will you arise?
Cobwebs in your mind,
Dust upon your eyes.

Eyes of Death

I looked into your eyes
Your Eyes of Death
I killed for those eyes to look into mine
Into my eyes of pain and guilt
I dared to walk into your path
I dared to take your hand into mine
And I dared to tell you my darkest secret
I stared into your Eyes of Death
And I lost my soul to them
When I looked into your Eyes of Death.
To this day, I am still dead
To this day, I can no longer live in the mortal world
To this day, we shall not die of fire, water, or love,
But of our Eyes of Death that rein our souls
I stare into your Eyes of Death and I cringe at the sight
I look into your Eyes of Death and I am no longer alive
I looked into your Eyes of Death
And I died again, before I could run from them
For I cannot stand to be around you to this very day again
I looked into your eyes
Your Eyes…of Death

Then They Shovel Dirt!

when you quit being
awed by living...
then you are already dead.
when you have no more to give,
then you've closed,
and bolted the door.
when your eyes no longer see beauty,
then you are forever blind!
when you are not touched
by the need of all living beings...
then they shovel dirt,
and mumble prayers!

On Pause

The stronger are my wishes,
My ambitions get...
Even stronger longer.
And with a longing hunger.

The stronger are my wishes,
I can taste success.
And my mind is not on sleeping,
To get a bit of rest.
'Cause I...
Live a life that isn't on pause.
Or stalling hesitated.
No I...
Do not live a life,
On pause.

The stronger are my wishes,
My ambitions get...
Even stronger longer.
And with a longing hunger.
'Cause I...
Live a life that isn't on pause.
To be in awe without a doing.
No I...
Do not live a life,
On pause.

But...
I wish to see,
My dreams...
Revealed to me!
Complete...
And real.

Time Stand Still

Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
I turn my back to the wind
To catch my breath,
Before I start off again
Driven on,
Without a moment to spend
To pass an evening
With a drink and a friend
I let my skin get too thin
Id like to pause,
No matter what I pretend
Like some pilgrim --
Who learns to transcend --
Learns to live
As if each step was the end
Time stand still --
Im not looking back
But I want to look around me now
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now
Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Experience slips away...
I turn my face to the sun
Close my eyes,
Let my defences down --
All those wounds
That I cant get unwound
I let my past go too fast
No time to pause --
If I could slow it all down
Like some captain,
Whose ship runs aground --
I can wait until the tide
Comes around
Make each impression
A little bit stronger
Freeze this motion
A little bit longer
The innocence slips away...
Summers going fast --
Nights growing colder
Children growing up --
Old friends growing older
Experience slips away...

And If I Could See

And if I could see
The emotions are turning
The sea no longer breaking
The scream no longer sounding
And if I could see

Take me home
I want to be alone
I can’t stand your sound no more
Take me home
Where I am alone
Your face I detest
Your movements are a test
Take me home

And if I was to run
Can’t stand here no more
Can’t live another’s dream
And if I was to disappear
No longer would I care
No longer would I share
And if I could see

Take me home
Where I can speak my dream
Take me home
Where my thoughts are my own
No longer would I prove
What others disapprove
Take me home

In The Late of Night

Always thought your promise was for life
I did not think that I
Would hear you say good-bye
And I always heard you led another life
I doubted every time
I guess my love was blind
Cause in my eyes
Love was always something magical
But the feeling is so tragical
And all I know is in love
The thing that I want most
I can't possess
There's only emptiness

In the late of night
Just before I closed my eyes
You lied
As you kissed me goodnight
In the late of night
Just before I closed my eyes
I cried
As you kissed my lips good-bye

In my eyes
You will always be the lucky one
Cause you know you'll always have my love
For all times until I die
Through the end I gave to you my best
You gave

Fight The Good Fight

Pagans came to subjugate us with fables from there story books
Corrupt the mind of the innocent ones
Enslaved and took us to foreign lands
They took most of us abroad
They dropped some of us a yard
They said they saved us from a mundane life
Righteous people have to fight the good fight

So be though as it may
You can’t break the sanctified spirit
For God will help us on our way
So stand firm and fight the good fight

They claimed that they’re superior and the rest of us inferior
They sailed the seven seas
They spread there lies, sickness, and disease
They tried to handcuff our brains with there drug
Told us lies of there God above
The Holy Spirit has revealed himself to us
So go ahead with your evil lies

Removed the shackles but the scars stayed
Shot down and died where we laid
Gang violence blood washes the streets
Some go to bed with nothing to eat
One step forward two steps back we’ve strived
No longer royalty for loss of pride
Economic enslavement has been left for us
Gone tomorrow from dawn till dust

So be though as it may
You can’t break God’s people spirit
Arm in arm on our holy crusade
Engaged in battle for our survival
So be though as it may
You can’t break the sanctified spirit
The holy redeemer will help you on our way
So stand firm against the on slot of the missives’

All in all we’re all one blood
Blessed by one God that dwells above
It maters not where you came but where you’re going
The fruit of intellect most are starving
Battle scared people full of dissolutions
Full time we start to make the right decisions
A fool knows not that we’re in the same pot
The idiot knows not what he’s got
Closed eyes, closed heart from the truth
Closed mind so blindly he shoots
Dehumanized so it becomes easier to kill
Gangsters huddle to do as the will
Hooded clothing to hide there shame
Demanding we go back from where we came
Force exodus he just does not relate
Spewing his words of pure hate

For the fool now thinks he knows it all
Poisoned by there desire for his alcohol
Now he lives his life of vanity
Gone now are the days of his morality
The minorities now kicked to the curve
Opressor man says that is what they deserve

Blessed child of the sun
Wonders aimlessly in captivity
Brought to a place he feels he doesn’t belong
Kept under a thumb spirit no longer rises
Hopeless sinner strives for the better days
White picket fence no longer made
Trod the trodden on desolate shores
No longer the flag of pride flying no more
Walk we walk speaking a tongue not of his own
Broken language we speak; we’re nothing more than shadows
We hear no more the sweet songs of the sparrows

So be though as it may
Don’t let them break the sanctified spirit
For God will help us on our way
So stand firm and fight the good fight
Fight the good fight

The Ending

As you look and you see him dead
With no more worries upon his head
His lips are silenced and eyes are closed,
The way death is and the way GOD chose.
His deeds on Earth they now are done
With battles he lost and victories he had won
And now in Heaven his judging will begin
On the scales of judgement it will be good against sin.
His journey is finished his walk is completed
And like all man he has been tempted and has been greeted
And now he lies down and we see him dead
Now he will be judged by the life he led.

The Morning After

Awakened by the sun light
Victimized by last night
Memories flashin through my head
Was I just born or am I dead?
Yesterdays forgotten, the morning after
I can taste you, I can hear your laughter
Fading in the distance
Recollections drifting
Bloodstains on my tattered clothes
Each minute the fear grows
If I could just lay down to rest
Im tired of searching for myself
If I am dead, how can I feel such love?
If I am dead, why am I dreaming?
If I am dead, where do I go from here?
If I am dead, why does this pain feel so good?
Is this my blood dried upon my face?
Or is it the love of someone else?
It tastes so sweet, just like you used to
So rescue me my love, splice us together
I remember loving you so much
But where are you and wheres your fatal touch?
When I closed my eyes, was it my siesta?
Did I encounter a darkness stronger than sleep?
I am thirsty for my sleep
There are no answers anyway...

Edgar Lee Masters

Edith Conant

We stand about this place -- we, the memories;
And shade our eyes because we dread to read:
"June 17th, 1884, aged 21 years and 3 days."
And all things are changed.
And we -- we, the memories, stand here for ourselves alone,
For no eye marks us, or would know why we are here.
Your husband is dead, your sister lives far away,
Your father is bent with age;
He has forgotten you, he scarcely leaves the house
Any more.
No one remembers your exquisite face,
Your lyric voice!
How you sang, even on the morning you were stricken,
With piercing sweetness, with thrilling sorrow,
Before the advent of the child which died with you.
It is all forgotten, save by us, the memories,
Who are forgotten by the world.
All is changed, save the river and the hill --
Even they are changed.
Only the burning sun and the quiet stars are the same.
And we -- we, the memories, stand here in awe,
Our eyes closed with the weariness of tears --
In immeasurable weariness!

Stars have eyes! !

Stars have eyes

Did anyone ever see the eyes on stars?
The eyes on stars full of soul
Look any longer they take control

Did anyone ever see the eyes on stars?
The eyes on stars behold the sight
Look any longer and glide free like a kite

Did anyone see the eyes on stars?
The eyes on stars oh what a smile
Look any longer they’ll lite your darkness for a mile

Did anyone see the eyes on stars?
The eyes on stars share the love
Look any longer you know it comes from above

Well now you’ve seen the eyes on stars
Shared the beautiful soul amazed by their wonder
Enchanted by the smile
And overwhelmed by the love

But look any longer you will see the pain
The pain on the eyes of stars
Never to be concealed by the rain

The eyes on stars cry
Never to be wiped dry
The eyes on stars cry
The eyes on stars cry blood tears
Permanently there reminding of fears

The eyes on stars cry
The eyes on stars cry

Stars eyes cry
Stars eyes cry
Stars eyes cry
They cry blood
Stars eyes cry

Stars eyes smile
Stars have eyes
Stars eyes.

You Enchant Me

Enchant me,
Even with my eyes closed...
You do.

Weaving a spell.
And I wish not to resist.
Will I get to see you again?
I wish.
With a wanting to approach,
Yet fearing to be rejected.

Enchant me,
Even with my eyes closed...
You do.
So brave am I with my wants.
So weak am I to get my needs met.

Enchant me you do.
And I can't seem to tell you of this.
So brave am I with my wants.
So weak am I to get my needs met.
Although with each step I take,
I promise myself I'll take another.

Enchant me,
Even with my eyes closed...
You do.
Do I wish you didn't?
I don't but if I did...
How would you know you enchant me?

How would you know I am weak to get my needs met?
Although I am brave to know my wants remain to stay.
Enchant me,
Even with my eyes closed...
You do.
And how and why you do this I still don't know.

Rest In Peace

WHO DARES TO DISTURB THE DEAD?
WHY THEN IS THE DEAD A GHOST?
THEY ARE ABROAD THAT OUGHT TO BE AT REST,
YEA, THE DEAD NO LONGER RESTS IN PEACE,
TELL YE THE TRUTH,
DOES THE DEAD LIVE ON IN CAPTIVITY?
WHY THEN DOES THE DEAD CRY FOR IT'S LOST INNOCENCE?
THOUGH I BE DEAD,
I LIVE ON IN TEARS,
I WEEP FOR MY LOST INNOCENCE,
YEA, THE DEAD NO LONGER REST IN PEACE,
THE THIEVES HAVE STOLEN MY LIFE AND MY DEATH,
YEA, NO ONE DEAD, EVER REST'S IN PEACE!

Old Comrades

Many of my old comrades in arms, are now long dead,
Names written in my memories and stories no longer said,
At association meetings where memories are fading fast,
And I sometimes wonder, how much longer these good times will last.

I'm sorry to even say this but soon enough I too will be dead,
And you will too and it might even be you first, instead,
We just don't know the score, the when, the where or the why,
But we have no death-with-dignity when we lie down to die.

But we do have democracy, they often announce,
While binding referendums is something else they denounce,
We just have no political influence where it should count,
And if we do, it's a small insignificant amount.

The Passing of the Elder Bards

THE MIGHTY Minstrel breathes no longer,
Mid mouldering ruins low he lies;
And death upon the braes of Yarrow
Has closed the Shepherd-poet’s eyes:

Nor has the rolling year twice measured,
From sign to sign, its steadfast course,
Since every mortal power of Coleridge
Was frozen at its marvellous source;

The ’rapt One, of the godlike forehead,
The heaven-eyed creature sleeps in earth:
And Lamb, the frolic and the gentle,
Has vanished from his lonely hearth.

Like clouds that rake the mountain-summits,
Or waves that own no curbing hand,
How fast has brother followed brother,
From sunshine to the sunless land!

Yet I, whose lids from infant slumber
Were earlier raised, remain to hear
A timid voice, that asks in whispers,
“Who next will drop and disappear?”

In Mind...Still

Evening it is
Everyone, in a hurry
Except you

The sun, so sleepy
The clouds, so gravid

You pass by and pause
I pause and look

Your luggage
On your back

I see

Your buggage
In your heart

I feel

Your eyes
White
And black
And grey
And Glassy

Betrayal, betrayal, betrayal

A drizzle...

In haste
I depart
I ponder

No Home
No Home
Poor you

A distance...

I look back
The pause
Still on

You are home
This kerb
Your home

Raindrops...

Not a pause
It's a stop
You are home

Torrents!
