Looking for a place to belong,

Delicious Solitude
O' What a throbbing attitude,
For my delicious solitude.
For on the grass yet greenly still,
And in the gardens of the hill.
Shall I go about it all,
I'm neither tall nor am I small.
And with the same distrust in eyes,
I cannot even take long sighs.
I have to try and try again.
To make one shiny ray to ten.
Up the mountain of success,
I will go- whatever distress
To seek the glory of my might,
And burn a candle in the night.
To learn and rise no matter what,
To study and sense what nature taught.
Forget the shadows that decay,
To indicate the brightening day.
And then I'll tell the world I can
Be in the triumph out of this pan.
O' What a throbbing aptitude.
For my delicious solitude.

Maturity is often more absurd than youth and very frequently is most unjust to youth.

0007 Rilke on Solitude
If you notice that solitude is great,
rejoice because of this.
For what would solitude be
that had no greatness? There is
but one solitude, and that is great,
and not easy to bear,
and to almost everybody come hours
when they would gladly erxchange it for any sort of intercourse,
however banal and cheap; with the first comer,
with the unworthiest...
but perhaps those are the very hours
when solitude grows, for
its growing is as painful as the growing of boys
and sad as the beginning of springtimes.
To be solitary, the way one was solitary as a child,
when the grownups went around involved with things
that seemed important and big
because they themselves looked so busy
and because one comprehended nothing of their doings.
Be close to things; they will not desert you;
there are the nights still
and the winds that go through the trees
and across many lands;
among things and with the animals
everything is still full of happening
in which you may participate;
and children are still the way you were as a child,
sad like that and happy,
- and if you think of your childhood
you live among them again.

Age considers, youth ventures
Age considers, youth ventures
Age visualizes, youth dreams
Age makes theories, youth experiments
Age loves, youth longs
Age sees people, youth sees places
Age knows belongings, youth discovers them
Age pains to gain, youth gains to others' pain
Age has heart, youth has mind
Age is thoughtful, youth is tactful
Age ponders, youth wonders
Age recounts, youth counts
Age is experienced, youth is in experience
Age is cautious, youth dashes
Age floats, youth swims
Age lives, youth still making a living
Age is in touch with termination, youth with determination
Age is confident, youth is competent
Age adds years to living, youth adds life to living
Age is lost in past, youth is drowned in future
Age is grown, youth is crown
Ageless is youth, youthless is age

Solitude
How many times have you told me you love her
As many times as I've wanted to tell you the truth
How long have I stood here beside you
I live through you
You looked through me
Ooh, Solitude,
Still with me is only you
Ooh, Solitude,
I can't stay away from you
How many times have I done this to myself
How long will it take before I see
When will this hole in my heart be mended
Who now is left alone but me
Ooh, Solitude,
Forever me and forever you
Ooh, Solitude,
Only you, only true
Everyone leave me stranded
Forgotten, abandoned, left behind
I can't stay here another night
Your secret admirer
Who could it be
Ooh, Can't you see
All along it was me
How can you be so blind
As to see right through me
And Ooh, Solitude,
Still with me is only you
Ooh, Solitude,
I can't stay away from you
Ooh, Solitude,
Forever me and forever you
Ooh, Solitude,
Only you, only true

Life Is Not Great But Its Worth Living
it is painful to see the one you love,
love another
it is embarrasing to cast out your feelings
and be rejected in front of masses
it is sad to work and have
credit given to another
it brings despair when you are unappreciated
its dawnting to pretend or to live a lie
being pushed over, dropped
and picked up only to recieve the same treatment
its beyond me how a stranger can seperate those who have friends for years
in an instant
its horrifying how delinquents fluency is influencing the language spoken
and embedded on the youth
it is hope-draining to look at the youth now and think, is this our future?
but all of this negativity can be made into the opposite
with a push in the right direction
so don't dwell in despair, lift your head up for,
life is not great but its worth living

My Heart at Evening
Toward evening you hear the cry of the bats.
Two b l a c k h o r ses bound in the pasture,
The red maple rustles,
The walker along the road sees ahead the small
tavern.
Nuts and young wine taste delicious,
Delicious: to stagger drunk into the darkening woods.
Village bells, painful to hear, echo through the black
fir branches,
Dew forms on the face.

Sagittarian arrow
flew to true finality:
blue eyes opened, and the tree
of life fresh g[r]ain could sow.
Although the future none now know
‘make most of opportunity’
remains a motto all should see,
magnets success, so mark its glow.
Maturity? - Joy’s overflow!
Temptations base must always be
nipped in the bud when spirit free
defies authority, and so
maturity youth’s promise will
comfort, reinforce, instill.

Ode To A Solitary Mind - 2
Oh mind what is that magnitude
attracting you always to solitude
without any sort of gratitude
for the goodness of the world.
with solitude when you campaign
with it's effects like the champagne
you fell and think of the orgies,
That teach you ungreatfulness
for the world with some goodness,
It, thus, dipicts your hollowness.
Solitude makes melancholy to you
Driving the mirth from you away
Deprieving you of the worldly joys
You get nothing though you grieve.
Lonely and binding yourself in a trance
Of solitude you forgo the chance
To give goodness & get it in return
From the world in your turn
from the society into spiteful
Aloofness which is too painful.

Involuntary Solitude
How is
Involuntary solitude, the abyss,
Different in temperament
From solitary confinement?
Involuntary solitude
Bothersome with certitude.
Solitary confinement
Painful with infinitude.
Involuntary solitude
Taken advantage of, by some.
Solitary confinement
Feared by all and one.

In The Solitude Of Prayer
In the solitude of prayer
deep
Lost in moments in between weep
and sleep
In the solitude of prayer
Lonliness finds a rest
Survived another test
Brings out our best
In the solitude of prayer
With nobody there
Except those far away
Reminded of their distant care
In the solitude of prayer
You pray for their smile
For their personal trial
Silently, all the while
In the solitude of prayer
Dreams seem more near
More hope than fear
Thoughts of those past those dear
In the solitude of prayer
Pray for their souls kind
Whose memory is still in your mind
And in your heart
In the solitude of prayer
Pray for your dear friends
Whose heart's you defend
As your own heart they mend
In the solitude of prayer
As for God's wisdom
And his love
As all love comes from above
In the solitude of prayer
Find grace to forgive
And to truely give
And to live
In the solitude of prayer
Recall how to dream
Of warm embraces of affection
And of love returned in your direction
In the solitude of prayer
Pray with conviction
Pray for the impossible
Without fear or restriction

Time Does Not Make Sadness Any Less Sad
TIME DOES NOT MAKE SADNESS ANY LESS SAD
Time does not make Sadness any less Sad
Life is a long going home
We live and are young for years
But then the dark days come
And it is hard to find joy in them-
We are all going home
But the end is more painful and difficult
Oh youth oh joy oh brightness oh life
Let me sing a happier song
Here in my old age.

Cloaks Of 23
I want you
but I know you
suspect this already
taking bites of it like
a ripe delicious apple
with those perfect teeth
looking at me
through the bedroom eyes
of nonchalant youth
feasting on admiration
and attention
from us over thirties
who crave in you
our last grasp at the youth
which was once ours;
now consoling ourselves
with work, money or security,
thinking just maybe
you'd swap the latters
for the true love of the
young men who surround you
in their twenties.
Youth never understands
that age
does not abandon its own youth
rather
our older faces relentlessly
cover its relentless
insurgencies smashing our illusions.
So it is not
just you we crave
but our own fading youth
you represent
as we find ourselves meandering down the years
our minds fixed on how we were
at 17 or 23.
The body defeats
ultimately our youthful sense of agelessness
but that is something that can never be explained
to young girls of 23.
In fact if you approached most of us
we would blush and flee
because it is not you we crave
but our own young selves
at 17 and 23-
selves which abandoned us
for the cheap price of fleeting years
leaving us as oarless dingys
floating on an aging seas.
So as we
console our sorrow
with money or power
which do not sate
we, too, gaze back longingly;
youthful pasts
represented by you
clad now in only our poor cloak
for what was once
our own youthful
youth.
So pass now
sweet sprite
by these older eyes-
apple core
to the ground-
because those seeds within
shall be rightfully
sewn
by other younger
youth's hands.

At that time, I had recently finished a book called Amazing Grace, which many people tell me is a very painful book to read. Well, if it was painful to read, it was also painful to write. I had pains in my chest for two years while I was writing that book.

A Prayer In The Summer Of My Life
Lord, I ask that you bless the days
where the summer of my life starts
that You pour out the blue-white thunder and rain
generous into my life.
Give that I in maturity win
against every resistance of my own will
and that I selflessly love my darling,
please cover the sin of my youth,
draw out the summer of my later years
and bring the two of us closer to each other.

Youth is a folly; maturity, a struggle; old age a remorse.

'Age' is the acceptance of a term of years. But maturity is the glory of years.
