What Production Seeks to Achieve

Those of you who complain about the volume,
One produces that may reduce your sensibilities...
May or may not notice this,
The ones producing volume and sustaining such levels...
Of it.
Apparently have blocked out your complaints,
With the realization that even critics are giving attention.
And that is what production seeks to achieve,
N'est pas?

Shady and Quite Below Grade

In volume and off an assembly line,
Reproductions they can produce.
And from the outside they feel proud,
Of themselves.
To be able to accomplish what they do.

But a recall of defections,
To correct imperfections...
Has those efforts they have made,
Seem a bit shady and quite below grade.

But with a sticking to the volume,
They believe this brings them praise.
They believe they've achieved a name,
For themselves.
Although it is the quality attempted,
That has brought them much shame.

My Mother Said

one day
as i almost
died laughing my

mother said
not to laugh
out loud because

the volume
of my laughter
shall be
the same
volume
of sadness
and tears
that follows
after

take moderation
she said
do not howl
or wail

do not have
a brouhaha

take the
little giggle
and the smile
take
the little pinch
of pain

in happiness
and sadness
let there
be caution

like day
and night
not so glaring
not so gloomy

live in twilight
stay in dusk

Non-Fictionalized

They are looking for volume.
Something to validate...
What I've known since the age of eight.
And...
I appreciate volume.
If it doesn't carry the same aftertaste.
And gives me vivid variety of assorted flavor.

They are looking to uncover style and content.
And I deliver that with my own approach to facts.
All as 'is' with original innovation.
I'm in the midst of creating history.
Yes I am,
Aware of that.

And...
They are looking for escapades based upon fiction.

And I,
Well...
I seek longevity.
There is something about it that appeals to me.
The non-fictionalized kind!
One that will always be,
Timelessly up in somebody's face.
With the making of fresh declarations.
And never outdated.

Zoomers

When I write my children’s stories
looking through the eyes of a cat
I often wonder what names
he gives to the things he sees.
They certainly wouldn’t be
what we refer to them to be,
so I have fun thinking
of alternate names to call them.
In the first volume I have published,
I introduced everyone to
half dogs and flying grub.
Now in my second volume
everyone will meet the Zoomers.
Any guesses what they might be.
A clue: A Zoomer flies at night
quickly and silently.
There is no prize for getting it right,
just the fun of guessing
what Zoomers really are.

From a consideration of the immense volume of newly discovered facts in the field of physics, especially atomic physics, in recent years it might well appear to the layman that the main problems were already solved and that only more detailed work was necessary.

The Flower of Sorrow

Summer comes and summer goes,
But all months of all years
There is falling of tears;
Summer comes and summer goes,
All hours are grief's, and the sower sows:
To-day and to-morrow
The Flower of Sorrow
Buds and blows.

To......

(WITH A VOLUME OF EPIGRAMS)

Unto the Lady of The Nook
Fly, tiny book.
There thou hast lovers--even thou!
Fly thither now.

Seven years hast thou for honour yearned,
And scant praise earned;
But ah! to win, at last, _such_ friends,
Is full amends.

A Flower Of A Day

OLD friend, that with a pale and pensile grace
Climbest the lush hedgerows, art thou back again,
Marking the slow round of the wond'rous years?
Didst beckon me a moment, silent flower?

Silent? As silent is the archangel's pen
That day by day writes our life chronicle,
And turns the page,--the half-forgotten page,
Which all eternity will never blot.

Forgotten? No, we never do forget:
We let the years go: eash then clean with tears,
Leave them to bleach, out in the open day,
Or lock them careful by, like dead friends' clothes,
Till we shall dare unfold them without pain,--
But we forget not, never can forget.
Flower, thou and I a moment face to face--
My face as clear as thine, this July noon
Shining on both, on bee and butterfly
And golden geetle creeping in the sun--
Will pause, and, lifting up, page after page,
The many-colored history of life,
Look backwards, backwards.

So, the volume close!
This July day, with the sun high in heaven,
And the whole earth rejoicing,--let it close.

I think we need not sigh, complain, nor rave;
Nor blush,--our doings and misdoing all
Being more 'gainst heaven than man, heaven them does keep
With all its doings and undoings strange
Concerning us.--Ah, let the volume close:
I would not alter in it one poor line.

My dainty flower, my innocent white flower
With such a pure smile looking up to heaven,
With such a bright smile looking down on me--
(Nothing but smiles,--as if in all the world
Were no such things as thunder-storms or frosts,
Or broken petals trampled on the ground,
Or shivering leaveswhirled in the wintry air
Like ghosts of last years joys--my pretty flower,
I'll pluck thee--smiling too. Not one salt drop
Shall stain thee:--if these foolish eyes are dim,
That they behold such beauty and such peace,
Such wisdom and such sweetness, in God's world.

To a Friend

With a Volume of Verses.

TO you who dwell withdrawn, above
The world's tumultuous strife,
And, in an atmosphere of love,
Have triumphed over life;

To you whose heart has kept so young
Beneath the weight of years,
I give these passion flowers of song,
Still wet with undried tears.

You too have trod that stony path
Which steeply winds afar,
And seen, through nights of storm and wrath,
The bright and Morning Star;

Where, shining o'er the Alps of time
On valleys full of mist,
It beckons us to peaks sublime,
Oh, brave Idealist.

Years 1

For years I let the torment go on
Years I let you get in my head
Years I had to cry myself to sleep
your out now and last night
what you did to me replayed in my head again
I told myself i wasn't going to let it happen but it did
For years I have lived in scared quarters
For years I have looked for your face
For years I have never felt safe
For years I have remembered
